I agree with the plan of doing a repeat biopsy, hysteroscopy guided or dilatation and curettage. This will help determine the cause of the endometrial thickening.
Avatar f tn The contraceptive regimen consists of 1 dose every 3 months. Efficacy DMPA is an extremely effective contraceptive option. Neither varying weight nor use of concurrent medications has been noted to alter efficacy. Within the first year of use, the failure rate is 0.3%. Advantages DMPA does not produce the serious adverse effects of estrogen, such as thromboembolism. Diminished anemia occurs. Dysmenorrhea is decreased. The risks of endometrial and ovarian cancer are decreased.
Avatar f tn The causes of abnormal uterine bleeding include endometrial cancer, myoma uteri, functioning ovarian tumor, adenomyosis, or secondary to oral contraceptive pills intake or depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (dmpa) injection. Avatar f tn Other forms of medroxyprogesterone, such as Depo-Provera, are used as a contraceptive injection and prescribed in the treatment of endometrial cancer. Some doctors prescribe Provera to treat endometriosis, menopausal symptoms, premenstrual tension, sexual aggressive behavior in men, and sleep apnea (temporary failure to breathe while sleeping). Avatar n tn Look it up on Wikipedia, there is a lot of information there. Depo-Provera does not have progesterone in it. It is a Contraceptive Injection (medroxyprogesterone acetate) manufactured by Pfizer Inc.
Avatar f tn Medroxyprogesterone acetate Polyethylene glycol 3350 Polysorbate 80 Sodium chloride Methylparaben Propylparaben Water for injection some of which are actually ingredients in the foods we eat every day. the ones that aren't are either hormones or non-thermisolic preservatives, such as methylparaben or propylparaben. So I would say that there's almost no chance the shot is the cause. have you spoken with a geneticist?
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed w/ endo last November and had a lap right after Christmas and was then started on Depo Lupron. I was under the impression that Lupron was a contraceptive (note to others...its NOT!!) so my fiancee and I didn't bother with any form of birth control. My last Lupron injection was in mid May and by June I was beginning to wonder if I was pregnant. Of course I don't have a period to go on due to the Lupron treatments, so the easy way to find out is not an option.
Avatar n tn I have been prescribed many pills , taken the injection, none of which have had any effect.I have taken blood tests which do not show any worries, docotors have said the bleeding is not causing you a problem its jus an unwanted problem. i have had an internal check up and now have been booked in to have a IUS - hormonal intrauterine system.
Avatar n tn I've also been on the mini-pill and Provera, and both of them contained norethisterone/norethinderone acetate and medroxyprogesterone acetate, which were HORRID progesterones...they made me gain 10 lbs, my boobs were constantly sore, I felt depressed, etc. But not with Yaz! Maybe younger women should wait until they hit perimenopause to go on the pill. In any event, Yaz has been a total blessing in every way.
