2051102 tn?1330321233 I went back on the medication Medroxyprogesterone this month. I was on it in March and started my period as normal but instead of lasting 14 days it lasted 12. Last month I forgot that I was suppose to take the medication and as normal I started but one day early and again it lasted 12 days. I started on the 2nd of this month and my period was suppose to start on the 7th of this month, I am now 5 days late.

Avatar n tn I accidentally took a medroxyprogesterone pill...I thought I was taking my folic acid. Is this harmful in any way? I was on cycle day 4 when I took the pill by accident. We have been trying for a year to get pregnant, so I am very nervous.
Avatar f tn I am 63 years old and 8 Years ago I stopped having periods and haven't had any problems with hot flashes or anything that goes along with menopause. I have never taken any hormones, but just this week my GYN prescrivbed Medroxyprogesterone 2.5 mgs to help keep something "down there" (uterus, endometrium???) from thickening. Do you know how much this would raise my chances of getting breast cancer?
Avatar f tn Hello, I am taking Medroxyprogesterone also. I took it for 10 days and 3-4 days later spotting occured, then 2 days after AF arrived. The way I took it was before I went to bed. I've heard it has some bad effects, which was the case the first round. I did see my doctor during the first round of taking (for other reasons) and casually said that "yesterday was the last day" and she had mentioned that AF would come within 10 days.
1855970 tn?1325827213 I'm kind of glad she didn't do one, but I feel like she should have. She prescribed me provera (medroxyprogesterone) to take the 16th through the 26th of each month. Within a week of stopping the hormone, I should get my period. Here's my problem, yesterday was my first dose... Then last night I woke up around 3am with lower abdominal pressure. I went to the bathroom (pee) and felt a little better. But this morning I still feel a little discomfort.
1906894 tn?1321877167 Ive been on medroxyprogesterone for a wk already to hopefully regulate my period but my breast are very sore. I havent felt this soreness since i was pregnant. I know the soreness is normal but I also feel like my breast feel n look bigger. I barely fit a size 34b for over 3 yrs or so n now it fits a lil tight. Is this normal? Are my breast getting bigger? Does my age have something to do with it (20years old).

Avatar f tn I noticed that none of the pills I have tried here were comfortable to use as far as side effects, which I did not experience in Brazil. Weather transitions, geographic location and some environment influence might as well be considered, because I have noticed that none of my Latin-American friends have kept the same health situation as they would in their origin place of birth, etc etc.
Avatar n tn Hello~ My OBGYN suggested to take 5 mg Medroxyprogesterone 5 mg x 7 days to induce menstruation. I am 49 years old in pre-menopause. I have not had a period and am starting my 7th month of no period. I really dislike any type of pills, but my doctor said, I should take this med every three months if I do not have a period, to shed my uterine lining, until I am through with menopause. I do smoke sometimes, otherwise very healthy, and am afraid of the side effects.
Avatar f tn Now, as someone who suffers from panic attacks, I'm staring at the bottle, scared out of my mind that all of the bad side effects are going to happen to me. This may seem extreme, but it's my cycle of thinking. I also have had a build up of PMS, therefore am experiencing some hormone imbalance, which I confirmed with my doctor is NOT the same as clinical or post partum depression. Does anyone have some advice for me?
237300 tn?1231458318 http://www.medicinenet.com/medroxyprogesterone/article.htm She may be hesitant because its just been 6 weeks, may want to wait a bit to see if your period comes naturally. I waited just over 7 weeks post D&C to start the Provera. Dose can be 10mg provera for 5-10 days (I took mine for 10). You should have a period 3-7 days after the last provera dose, although many drs may want you to wait up to 14 days before doing further testing and/or trying the provera again.
Avatar n tn (not this one) Okay, now, my concern is the effcts after STOPPING yasmin. I understand that all bc pills are different and so are we women as far as side effects go. I have read postings about women who stopped taking yasmin and have experienced the following: - anxiety, panic attacks, heart palpitations and fluttering - depression - excessive weight gain - hair loss *I already have a prob. with depression, anxiety and panic attacks, so I am currently on medication.
Avatar f tn Is the 5mg provera stronger than the 10mg provera and what are the side effects of the pill?
Avatar f tn My GYN put me on a 10 day course of 10 mg Medroxyprogesterone. After starting the 10 day course I started spotting dark brown blood on day 4, then I started spotting again after 3-3 1/2 weeks but it was still spotting but not like a regular cycle. The doctor thinks that I passed the progesterone challenge and said that my hormones look fine. About five days ago my nipples started getting really sore which is something I haven't experienced in quite a while.
1855970 tn?1325827213 Hi, How are you? Side effects of medroxyprogesterone may include spotting or breakthrough bleeding, changes in menstrual periods; breast tenderness or discharge, mild itching or skin rash;, sleep problems, changes in appetite or weight, and mild stomach pain, bloating, nausea. (ref: http://www.drugs.com/sfx/medroxyprogesterone-side-effects.html) If it persists, it is best that you have this checked by your gynecologist for proper evaluation. Additional diagnostic tests may also be done.
Avatar f tn I got prescribed medroxyprogesterone 10mg to stop my bleeding of 2months. how long does it take to work? I been taking it for 3days and still heavy bleeding.
Avatar m tn Hello, Unfortunately there are no 'remedies' (herbal) or otherwise which will safely reduce a man's sexual desire. Antiandrogen drugs such as cyproterone or medroxyprogesterone can be used but they have plenty of side effects. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn By any chance did you ask the farmacist if medroxyprogesterone had any effects with plan B sometimes certain hormones or medicines may conteract and perhaphs you are pregnant or perhaphs its just plan B side effect. Any how any time u have intercoarse you have 20% getting pregnant. When did you have sex?
1557930 tn?1294636149 If your periods are irregular or have stopped completely and your doctor can find no obvious cause, it may be that something has upset your natural hormone levels. Medroxyprogesterone can help to restore your natural hormone levels, because it mimics the effects of your natural progesterone. Normally the level of progesterone in your blood increases about a week before your period.
Avatar f tn I have pcos and I dont get my period unless I am on some type of medication. My doctor started me in medroxyprogesterone to induce my period then clomid for ovulation today is my last day on it. Just wondering how many women actually get pregnant from this and how long it took. Im pretty new to all this so any helpful insight would be greatly appreciated!
Avatar f tn He told me that I will have a number of options (birth control, mirena, ablation, or hysterectomy) he told me that I may want to seriously consider a hysterectomy because over time the fibroid will grow and cause discomfort and I already have serious side effects from the heavy bleeding. He took a sample of the uterine lining, told me not to panic and wait for the results to see if it showed polyps.
Avatar f tn My obs/gynae dr has put on pregnyl injections twice weekly, asprin and vitamins and has recommend I start provera medroxyprogesterone acetatae oral tabs 20mg x3 a day from week 5. Avatar f tn consult your doctor now..so that she can give you the right contraceptives method...
Avatar n tn Hello again, I just asked her and she said she takes them seperately. EQUIN 0.625MG (estrogen) and MEDROXYPROGESTERONE 5 (5mg). She also reminded me to tell you that she is menopausal and that her ovaries do not produce hormones anymore. Please tell me if you have any suggestions with regard to the information I have given you. Thank you.

Avatar f tn My mom really doesn't want me on that or the stronger birth control. The Metforum apparently makes my aunt really sick (I knew she was on it, but not the side-effects) and my mom took the same pill they're going to want me on if Provera doesn't work, but it made her crazy. I don't usually have weird drug reactions like that, so I am still open to trying it if these two months don't go the way they're supposed to. I'm putting my foot down this time around.
