Avatar n tn Hi... can anyone tell me what they use for medicines... I don't react well to the typical meds they prescribe for Chiari... My main pains are headaches,neck pain, hand pain. I've heard of people using excederin migraine.. I have been taking advil for several months and would like to stop taking it... if I could find a replacement. What anti depressants has anyone had success with? Also. how is everyone dealing with the medical bills?

Avatar f tn You need to be revaluated not for the cyst but if the cyst has undergone any change / increase in the size or hemorrhage in the recent past to cause these continuous headaches, any tumors stretching the pain sensitive dura, impending rupture or ruptured aneurysm, change of medicines for migraine, trial of otherpreventive medicines lie topamax, other drugs used to abort a migraine attack in triptans and ergots group. Rule out tension headaches by stress relieving measures and behavioral therapy.

Avatar f tn Sinus infections can cause one sided headaches also. Your headache is possibly a combination of sinusitis and migraine. I would suggest you to continue for the antibiotic for the prescribed duration. If there is no improvement, you may need an alternate antibiotic after culture and sensitivity test. Also you can take steam inhalation at least 3-4 times and once before bedtime. This will help in clearing the sinus’ by liquefying the phlegm and relieve the pressure headache.

Photophobia, pressure behind the right eye, is seen with migraine headaches. Keep a close watch if you can narrow down any triggering factors in diet or environment. Keep a record of the food items, which lead to an episode. Do you get an aura or a strange feeling, like getting weird smells or sensation that you are about to have a headache?

On the other hand, secondary headaches have underlying conditions present. If prescription medicines are not working, you can also try complementary and alternative medicine such as acupuncture or biofeedback therapy. Avatar m tn If he hasn't had an injury then many things can be going on. He needs to be evaluated. If it is migraine then there are very good and specific medicines that will help but it could be something else.

Avatar f tn I would definitely go to your doctor as there are many medicines that you may find great relief from! How much Tylenol and other OTC meds do you take? If you take a lot of those you can get what they call "medication overuse headaches". These can often be worse than the headaches that you started off with in the beginning. My old headache doc said that I could take ibuprofen 3X a week. My new doc said that is way too much.

Avatar m tn The pain is so sharp and severe that sometimes she starts crying because of it.Earlier normal head pain medicines used to do the job but these days they are in vein and do not have an effect on the pain.The pain would last for a long time and she would feel as if someone is hammering her head.Due to this reason she gets angry very soon and starts yelling like never before and gets upset soon on certain small things which usually wouldnt upset her or anyone for that matter.

Avatar f tn ve ever had- and I get migraines occassionally. So far, none of my migraine or tylenol or natural medicines have touched this thing. Caffeine helps a little bit, but so far I haven't found the cure. Guess I just have to wait until this round is over.

Avatar m tn excedrin is 250mg asprin 250mg of tylenol in each tablet plus 65mg caffeine. perhaps a suggestion is that you could slowly substitute a dose of just regular asprin/tylenol in place of an excedrin that contains caffeine. then slowly reduce this dose. i should clarify what i said before. caffeine causes rebound headaches...as many are well aware. NSAIDs also cause rebound headaches when used daily...
