Avatar m tn Wolff Parkinson White syndrome (WPW) is a congenital condition of the heart where, in addition to its normal electrical pathways, there is an accessory pathway (Kent Bundle) that connects between the upper and lower chambers of the heart. Accessory pathways can be single or multiple.
Avatar n tn My teenage friend had recently been diagnosed with Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome. He has to have an operation to help fix this problem. What will be done during the operation? What are the risks of having this operation? How will he be affected by the operation, positive and negative?
Avatar f tn I wasn't finished before the above was posted to continue, QUOTE: " How do you know if the short PR interval is a normal one or whether it is dangerous. I might add that 6 months ago I had an ECG done and the short PR interval was not there then. Do you know if it can rectify itself without an ablation". For good electrical conduction (passage of impulses to activate chamber contraction is a timely manner), requires a balance of electrolytes in the blood stream.
Avatar m tn Hi ive just recently been diagnosed with Wolf PArkinson White syndrome but im a bit confused as i thought thhis was when you get a rapid heart rate but havent noticed that except under exertion which is natural.. i do get quite a few skipped beats (or extra beats) and if i get up quickly my heart rate becomes very forceful and slow and i get dizzy. acan anyone give me any information such as when wolf parkinson white syndrome becomes dangerous?? thanks.
Avatar f tn This is a long shot. I know it is. But do any mommies on here have wolff Parkinson white syndrome? I just would like yo know if your symptoms have gotten worse or returned. If so, what are they? I feel so crummy with this one cuz it has come back strong and is making pregnancy harder.
Avatar m tn I'm not familiar with WPW, but this SVT tutorial may help you out: http://www.blaufuss.
Avatar f tn SVT can be associated with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome which is genetic. Just goggle WPW syndrome for information. SVT can, of course, have other triggers. Your cardiologist should be able to answer this question based on your medical history.
454421 tn?1208838088 Hi! I'm dealing with a new diagnosis of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) a couple months after having an ablation for Wolff-Parkinson-White. I'm still constantly having PVCs, chest pain, lightheadedness, shortness of breath, and right-side numbness/weakness.
Avatar m tn hi im 18 years old i have wolff parkinson white since i found out that the doctor asked me to stop doin sports and im having an operation this week and i need to know if i can do sports again after the operation ?
Avatar m tn In my case, it in no way affected my libido. AVRT like Wolff Parkinson White is an electrical condition, and should not affect libido. I would look atnthe medication used to control the tachycardia. They can and often do supress the libido. How deep of an investigation have you done on your condition? Perhaps we can offer some suggestions.
Avatar f tn Wolffe-Parkinson-White is a syndrome where there is an accessory electrical tract in the heart usually in the area of the Kent Bundles. You can end up with the normal electrical impulses 'jumping over to and back from, the normal electrical pathway. Unless you are having a lot of very high heart rates which lasts over a long period of time, CHF isn't really an issue. I would not be thinking about being in heart failure, as kenkeith said.
Avatar n tn My little 2 week old child was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome after presenting with SVT at 275 bpm. It was brought under control with digoxin and propranolol, but when they realized it was WPW, they took her off the digoxin. She has had a couple of episodes since we left the hospital, but we were able to stop them with an ice bag on the face. Has anyone else dealt with WPW in an infant? Got any observations or suggestions?
Avatar n tn A friend of mine just told me that her brother who had svt's caused by wolff-parkinson-white syndrome had an ablation which cured it and he is now in the army.
1019152 tn?1336074292 Mine was for a form of SVT called Circus Movement Tachycardia; a funny name for a circular or looping pathway that the electrical activity took. It's a type of AVRT. I was first thought to have had Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome and it's closely associated to it. But they discovered the CMT during the electrophysiology study. I hope it goes well for you, and that you'll leave B&W a new person!
Avatar n tn An artificially-short PR interval occurs when the QRS complex begins early, as happens with an extra conducting bundle — Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome (WPW)...do you have arrhythmia? To support myocardial infarction (heart attack and damaged heart cells) there is marked ST elevation in the same area is consistent with a recent MI. If it persists and is present in an older infarction, it is associated with a wall motion abnormality or an aneurysm.
Avatar f tn I have Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. It causes tachycardia and palpitations. It was completely under control without meds until I started thyroid medication. My first year on thyroid meds was difficult, but since I've gotten my meds adjusted properly and been on a stable dose for a long time, my WPW is the best it's been since I was a kid. It takes some getting used to, and I now take a beta blocker.
454421 tn?1208838088 I had an EP study on March 28 during which they discovered I had Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. The doc was able to ablate thankfully. Both before and after though, I've been dealing with frequent PVCs (and possibly PACs...not sure). I've gone through the major work-ups over the past 7 months or so...EKGs, Holters, event monitors, stress echo, stress test, CTA coronary...all ok except for frequent PVCs and PACs.
Avatar n tn re dealing with humans, so mistakes will happen, and yes, you have to get all your test results yourself. I was just referred to a specialist by my PCP. I have Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (a congenital heart defect). The referral form said I had Parkinson's disease! There's just no excuse for that.
967168 tn?1477584489 •Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. A condition in which the normal electrical signals in the heart travel along an extra, abnormal electrical pathway. This can cause an abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmia). The condition is believed to be present from birth (a congenital heart defect). In certain cases, physicians might recommend ablation for young adults who have Wolff-Parkinson-White, but do not experience symptoms.
