Avatar m tn Anyway, I am almost totally cured today but I started having itching around my body , probably an allergic reaction from some of the medications. My worry is that I am going for a duo at july 31 and i am afraid that the allergic reaction might cause a false positive. Do you guys know what causes false positives and if allergic rections are among those thigs?
Avatar f tn Thank you, I did have the allergy testing and it showed that I have allergies to dust mites and some pollens. I also took that Spirometry test and showed that inhealed steriods helped. I will try what you suggested using the bronchodilator. I have been using the nasal steriods the last two days and some gets in my throat. I noticed my heart beat a bit faster when it went down my throat last night when I used this medication, but did sleep well through the night.

Avatar n tn What is the difference between the blood allergy tests and the skin testing? I was recently tested for allergies by a blood test and it came back I was allergic to cats and dogs, but I have heard this form of testing isn't always 100% and skin testing is still needed. Is this true? I have had asthma symptoms for two months now with shortness of breath & chest tightness.
329994 tn?1301663248 I have recently read up on the Butran patch and taking it makes me nervous. I am wondering which of the 3 medications (Talwin, Butran Patch, or Tramadol) would be best with the other medications that I take. I also take aspirin and Zyrtec OTC. Thank you for any help.
Avatar n tn Dr. Rajput brings up a good point. Many doctors do require their patients to go off H2 blockers (a specific type of antihistamine. H2 blockers inclue Zantac (ranitidine) and Pepcid. I cannot recall the chemical in Pepcid at the moment. Another questionable med is Elavil (amitriptyline). It is an antidepressant but has some antihistamine qualities. Every doctor is different on these meds. Many don't want to cause issues with going off of these meds.
Avatar n tn Homeopathy is helpful to some, and some chiropractors claim to be good at aiding allergy sufferers through muscle testing. Many medications aggravate or cause allergies either directly, or by impeding the immune system.

Avatar n tn Doctor prescribed medications for his eczema and ointment and has taking some antibiotics and some other medications orally but it seems nothing is working. His eyes and that general area is all swollen and has red rashes all over his forehead. Of course they ithcy like heck. We did blood test too just in case but nothing came up. He is as healthy as a normal teen age boy can be. He eats well, gets proper exercises and everything is normal. I need help, any help would be grateful.
Avatar m tn First food allergy testing was done with Intradermal and Scratch testing. Now I am taking *blood* for allergy testing. Should I: A. Retest foods to rule out false pos. -or- B. Test foods that showed up negative with skin testing? Not enough blood drawn to retest both. Please answer by 4pm Est time 8/22/08 Friday if possible to put on the order. Thanks.
Avatar m tn I started having anaphalatic reactions. I finally went to an immunologist and allergy specialist and he knew right off the bat that im allergic to my own hormones. Progesterone being the worst. But there's nothing they can due but treat the symptoms. Benadryl works best and I carry a double epi pen.
Avatar f tn I have been tested for parasites several times but the results came back negative. My doctor said this condition could be caused by allergies and put me on allergy medications, but I don't have any allergy related symptoms and the medications don't seem to do anything. I do have elevated thyroid antibodies (TPO Ab and Thyroglobulin) and a history of hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism and gastritis. Can these issues be related to Eosinophilia and IGE somehow?
Avatar m tn The allergen can be medications, food, extremes of temperature, exercise and viral infections to name a few. So, therapy lies in resolving the allergen and anti-histamines. So, Allergy testing may be worth looking into. If the present anti histamines are not very effective you can consult your doctor for long acting ones. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

975514 tn?1324997938 I was curious if certain medications could mess up the results of any thyroid antibodies testing? I know certain medications can cause your TSH and your Free T3 and Free T4 to go haywire. I was just wondering if they could do the same to interfere with antibody readings? Does anyone know?

Avatar m tn Not knowing for sure that ear rings are causing allergy I wore them once 4 months ago and the allergy is not going away. Nothing is helping at this point. Stopped all medications and just using cetaphil but that is not helping at all. Skin patch testing shows reaction to Metal gold.
