Side effects of Maxalt is pressure in your chest & throat. I did ok the times I've only needed it once. But, today I had to take it twice. After that second dose...omg, the pressure is HORRIBLE!!!!!!! I honestly think it is worse than a migraine. There are no words to describe it. You can't breathe & you can barely swallow just your saliva! I'm wondering if it is side effects that get better the more you take it? And if it does...

It has been the only antidepressant that I have found to be successful without side effects. I also take lithium (it helps with the migraines), and that is sort of an antidepressant but not really. As for triptans, my regular triptan is Zomig Nasal Spray. On average, I use Zomig Nasal Spray every other day. But, there are times where I will go 3 or 4 days without needing to use it. And there are also times where I will use it every day for sometimes up to a week.

It would help knowing exactly what you have tried so that I could suggest medications that you have not tried. Also, how many migraines do you get per month? Yes, most migraine medications do work well for most people. But, not everyone has the same success with all medications. For acute treatment of migraine headaches, first line treatment is triptans.

I find this impossible to believe that it would knock her out and turn her blue. Sadly, the police & EMT's didn't have just cause to bring her to the hospital. I'm at my wits end. I was reading up on it first and of course it states that it has side effects. Has anyone taken this medication for headaches and is it habit forming? What kind of side effects did you have? Any feed back would be great.

At the 50mg dose we did notice a decrease in total number of monthly migraines after discounting for weather from the 25mg dose. This is a subjective/objective measure. There was no measurable increase in side effects like tingling just like you have. 2) Maxalt also comes in a Melt formulation (atleast in the 10mg form). Treximet is another formulation that contains naproxen sodium. 3) Now is a good time to start tracking your migraines.

I have no side effects with the Maxalt. When I take the Maxalt, it will stop the migraine an instant about an hour after taking the medicine. The maxalt has been a miracle drug for my headaches and I normally only have to take one in a day. This is one of the very few medicines that my body will tolerate without any problems. The Maxalt must still be working because I'm still very sick to my stomach. I bet I'd still have the migraine if I didn't take the medicine.

So today my Celexa dose was upped from half a pill to 1 whole pill and the side effects are coming back like when I first started... Sweaty, can't sleep, headache, stiff neck, clenching teeth... Etc. I don't know what to do. I tried taking stuff for it, including an Oxy but still no change. What can I take to make these side effects not so bad? I don't see the dr till Thursday, so I can't ask her... If anyone has any suggestions?

Have him talk to his doctor about changing his dose, breaking down the dose over the course of the day or maybe even changing the med to some other.

I really can't say that the Topamax is helping yet. I have been slowly increasing the dosage. I guess maybe if I stretch the positive a little I was at the point of getting migraines that were lasting at least 3 days sometimes 4 with only a few days break before getting another. Now I have been having a full week in between but some pretty good headaches that others still might consider a migraine. So, he did increase from 100mg to 125mg today. So, I'm not sure yet.

I have used trileptal. It is also a antiseizure med, and worked better than the topomax. The issue for me was that even at the absolute lowest effective dosage it was too sedating.

To Krissynzoey, Celtiad and anyone else who has migraines at least 15 days a month, you should try Botox injections. Especially if the daily preventatives haven't worked, then the Botox has a very chance of helping you. It certainly helped me! It has made a terrific difference. Also you might be helped by nerve block and trigger point injections which have also helped me tremendously. There are other treatments as well, but those injections made the most difference.

Like... they said at 10mg there are very few side-effects and at 20mg there are noticeable side-effects. But, you obviously don't want to change the dose on your own, as this can be extremely dangerous! But, it would be worth talking to your doctor about if the side-effects don't go away fast enough. Although... most of the time... with SSRIs in general I find, it can take 2 to 4 weeks for side-effects to go away and then they're gone for good.

Carefull with that one, take only the amount prescribed. That one I found to have the least amount of side effects out of all the antidepressants-tricyclis, but can be sedating as well.

I will do that it seems the higher dose has created this and I'm not on anything else.

Hi.....I have both migraines and depression. My neuro doc put me on Topamax (I take it daily) for migraine management and when I do get "breakthrough" migraines I take Maxalt. The Topamax has worked wonders!!! But it isn't without some nasty side effects. Initially it causes your feet, hands and face to tingle (that goes away)....but it plays hell with your memory (not everyone gets this, but I did). It takes away your appetite (at least it did for me).

I had many side effects. Headaches, severe heartburn accompanied with hiccups. Blisters and discoloration all over my tongue and back of my throat. By day 6 my feet and ankles were badly swollen and it was getting difficult to swallow. My doc said I was having a systemic reaction and to quit immediately. We are going to try Subutex now and I hope it works. On all the info I found, the only side effect I had that was listed was headache.

I have been able to feel them since my 4th day on Clomid (not like literally) sometimes there will be a super sharp pain on one or both of them too... I have a lot of the other side effects too... So, I asked my sister if she'd had any of the side effects when she was on Clomid.. she said she never had any. She also never O'd with clomid...

I currently use zomig nasal spray. I give it two thumbs up! In the past I have also used Maxalt (the dissolving kind) and Axert. I like zomig. The taste of the nasal spray isn't great (okay, it's TERRIBLE), but it works better than the tablets (in my personal experience and also this is true in terms of the chemical interaction of the medication in the various forms as they've found via scientific trials...

Hi tia1977! I think it's great that the Lyrica is working so well for you!!! I have never tried Lyrica before and the only person that I know of personally that took it had to stop due to unwanted side-effects BUT side-effects are usually rare and don't effect all people. So, if you are not experiencing side-effects and this medication is working well for you, then I wouldn't let other people's bad experiences with the medication make you worry about taking the medication.

This is the first medication they suggested to us. She seems to be doing really well in school but the side effects at home are becoming hard for us to handle. SHe has become very nonaffectionate, emotional, withdrawn, and seems to be uninterested in life. She also will not eat at all. She is eating maybe one meal a day. I am wondering if we switch medications, will the side effects be the same/as bad?

i take a small dose of zoloft but before i took a larger dose and it would make my mind race so i take a smaller dose :)
