Maxalt second dose

Common Questions and Answers about Maxalt second dose

maxalt

Avatar f tn After that second dose...omg, the pressure is HORRIBLE!!!!!!! I honestly think it is worse than a migraine. There are no words to describe it. You can't breathe & you can barely swallow just your saliva! I'm wondering if it is side effects that get better the more you take it? And if it does...does it get better if you don't need to take it every day???
Avatar f tn I also get migraines. have you paid attention to any of the known migraine "triggers" like red wiine & chocolate, hard cheeses etc. You probably have but I thought I'd mention it. Like the others, I take Maxalt for mine & it always works. Maxalt is from the migraine interrupter family & also includes imetrix & Zomig. Good luck - it sounds very difficult.
1334481 tn?1276697078 Hello Everyone, I'm 22 and just graduated University. I have been having migraines since I was about 7 years old now. However, over the years they have seemed to get much worse. I thought that the higher frequency could have been from my lack of sleep and bad diet that I had throughout high school and college. Now that I have been out of college for over a month now the migraines haven't seemed to subside.
Avatar f tn Maxalt rocks. I love it and carry it everywhere with me. www.maxalt.com Another new med www.relpax.com (I have some, just not had a headache lately to use them) because I take my magnesium :0-). Here is a good site with migraine info. http://www.achenet.org/ And you need to get your migraine "bible" I got mine off of half.com cheap. This book helped me a lot in understanding my headaches and lots of good info.
Avatar n tn Hi Chloe, Such a beautiful name! I am sorry to hear about your migraines and the nausea and exhaustion that they are causing. Excedrine Migraine is great for occassional migraines or headaches but long term use causes the medicine to trigger more migraines, which is the exact opposite goal of the medicine in the first place. The hydrocodone is quite a bit stronger than the Excedrine and I am surprised it is not working and not even making a dent in the pain.
Avatar m tn She proclaims that she diluted and injected her migraine medicine (Maxalt) because she keeps throwing it up. Her symptoms, however, where those of an opiate overdose....blue hands and face, low respiration, eyes rolling backwards, staggering, tremoring arms upon waking up, disorientation, etc. Does anyone know what the side effects would be of injecting maxalt? I find this impossible to believe that it would knock her out and turn her blue.
1088430 tn?1259159773 Maxalt! Maxalt is a great triptan! I think that the fast acting triptans like Maxalt-MLTs are some of the best. Fast acting triptans are any triptans that are orally disintegrating tablets (like the Maxalt-MLTs) or Nasal Sprays or Injections. I use Zomig Nasal Spray which is another type of fast acting triptan, but Maxalt-MLTs work amazingly too... out of all of the triptans I've tried I think that Maxalt-MLTs and Zomig Nasal Spray have worked much faster than any of the other triptans.
220917 tn?1309784481 m on the Neurology floor of the hospital I work for ina private room, of course (it pays to work in bed management!). I am awaiting my second 1 gram dose of Solu-Medrol no thanks to my (now former) neuro, but rather to my favorite ER doc whom Icalled ahead to make sure he'd see me and would still be working after my afternoon shift. AFter my fave doc started the Solu-Medrol in EC, he made sure it was oredered on the floor. So, here I wait, getting better and better.
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
655875 tn?1295695107 My question is, are these rebound headaches from the Maxalt? I use the Maxalt no more then once to twice a week. This could also be sinus headaches too, I'm not 100% sure as I feel pressure in my head also. Is it okay to take the Maxalt 1-2 times a week? I also have a spinal cord nerve injury and I do take the long acting oxycontin every 8 hours for the pain.
Avatar n tn ve been getting the headaches/migraines about once every two weeks. I take maxalt and fiorinal and the maxalt works much better. The fiorinal does not make a huge difference, so I rarely take it.
Avatar n tn They have been increasing in quantity and severity until about a year and a half ago I had to stop working completely. I am on a combination of darvacet, tramadol, topomax and maxalt. The combination leaves me in bed about 18 hours a day. I have had two MRIs. One with contrast and one without. Neither shows any good reason for my pain. The headache never goes away and I have no idea what makes it hit so hard every few days (room blacked out and crawling to the bathroom). Am I the only one.
655875 tn?1295695107 My friend had called me and I told her that I was too sick to talk and that I had run out of my Maxalt. My friend is a life saver! When she got off of work, she picked up my Maxalt and brought it to me. She also brought me some hot dogs, chips and pop because I had nothing to eat in the house. Hubby left on Wednsday and took the kids up to the cabin, so I've been here alone. I thought that was extremely nice of my friend to go and do that for me.
Avatar f tn I'm in the same boat- the drs don't want to prescribe it anymore because the FDA reclassified WHAT it can be used for and migraine headaches is not on their list! They actually told the drs that Ibuprophen or advil works JUST as good and to take all patients off fiorinal and fioricet and put them on high dose ibuprophen!!! well, Ibuprophen NEVER worked for my migraines.
Avatar f tn When I was having frequent migraines and my insurance would only pay for one refill of Maxalt each month, I obtained prescriptions for both Maxalt and Relpax and filled both each month. They worked equally well for me.
Avatar n tn i took 2 maxalt on saturday for a migraine, it didnt help at all, actually made it worse making me vomit for 3 days and today is friday, 6 days later and i still feel like, tired, weak, foggy, not hungry, cant really go to the bathroom even though i feel like i have to. is this gonna go away?
1030950 tn?1261010513 Hey there, Maxalt shouldn't cause rebound headaches, BUT it is true that you can only take 2 doses every 24 hours. So, never take more than two doses in 24 hours and never take more then 2 doses for the SAME migraine. OTC medications such as Ibuprofen (advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) are much more likely to cause rebound headaches than triptans such as Maxalt.
Avatar f tn My first 2pregnacys they also gave me vicoden for when migranes were unbearable. This pregnancy my Dr told me I could also take maxalt( I was told w my first 2 that maxalt was not safe AT ALL) after doing some research I decided against maxalt but am continuing firocet.
4980051 tn?1361868778 I started at 150 and after receiving some benefit, decided along w/ my neurologist to increase the dose to 300 mg 2x/day. This dose has significantly reduced my # of h/a days per month as well as reducing the number of intractable h/z per month. (the kind that does not respond to treatment). Although I have experienced a few SE's such as decreased appetite and nervousness, they have lessened over time and neither were nearly as incapacitating as having a mad migraine.
Avatar m tn I am not on Coumadin 5mg a day, and i have to go every week for my PR-INR. I also have horrable migraine headaches all the time. I am currently taking Maxalt-MLT for the migraines, the only way that i can take the medication is if i take it and go to sleep. Most of the time i will wake up for with a headaches that is worse then the one that i had when i went to bed. I just don't know why my headaches are worse now then what they were before.
Avatar m tn gave me a full course of triple dose (1500mg) of amoxacilin to cure any infections. Later I went to several ENT specialists. One ordered a CAT scan thinking my sinuses may be causing this. After the scan result, he said the sinuses seems to be cleared. Another ordered a MRI covering front and back of head. At the end of her diagnosis, she said nothing was found. She prescribed Flonase for my stuffed nose.
Avatar f tn So yes it does have a different medication in it. You would want to start on the lowest dose of 5 mcg and then work up to 10 mcg if you need more help which I needed. Good luck.
1102283 tn?1257817472 maximum of 8 extra-strength or 12 regular-strength pills a day. Make sure you tell your doctor about any OTC medications you take regularly. If the pain persists, you may need to consult your doctor and have a prescription medicine. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I have been taking 10-15 per day as I had migraines, the prescribed dose quit working & I kept upping the dose for relief. I do understand the migraines were probably rebound migraines. What was your taper schedule? I quit cold turkey & had a seizure (tonic-clonic). My doc put me on Depakote & subsequently gained 20 lbs, then I relapsed. Short story, I cannot afford $250 per visit. So I want to try tapering. I am SO very done with these evil pills.
