maxalt

Avatar m tn Talk to your doctor about antimigraine medications such as Imitrex, Maxalt, Zomig, etc., that are meant to acute migraine attacks. Until you see your doctor, you have over the counter options such as aspirin, Tylenol, ibuprofen, or Excedrin.
Avatar m tn I hear Excedrin Migraine is good...I have migraines also, I'm going to pick some up for next time I have one.
Avatar m tn I cahnged my vivelle dot yesterday afternoona nd went to a party last night. I ate during the evening and drank alcohol. I woke up around 3 a.m. with an unbeleivable migraine as well as the most extreme nausea that I have ever had. Then, I began throwing up avey 15-20 minutes for several hours. My maxalt didn't help my migraine. I finally removed the patch, took some migraine Excedrin and slept most of the day. My vomiting did stop late in the morning but I still ahve a pretty bad headache.
Avatar n tn Hi all, I am an 18 year old female (155lbs, 5'8"). I am currently embarking on my journey through my first year of college. Three weeks ago I had a migraine headache that woke me up in the middle of the night. It felt like someone was stabbing me in the right eye with an ice pick. The migraine was located on the right side of my head and remained unilateral (in terms of pain). This lasted for 3-4 hours.
456049 tn?1382678124 Hi and welcome! You will find lots of advice and support here. That's great that you are down to 40-40 mgs. Are you doing this with a doctors help? As far as Prozac, that is an antidepressant right? I would definately wait until you are completely off the Oxy and through withdrawals before quitting the Prozac. You should also do that under a doctors care. Are you prescribed these medications? Feel free to share your story and provide some more information.
Avatar f tn I was on midrin for a long while but I got used to it and started to max out and had the aide of other pills. I was put on Maxalt and it stopped working in a couple of months and I often time had to mix it with other pills. Between appt I took excedrin extra strength, I was taking 3 or 4 pills for two hours. The new pills they had put me on was a "pre migraine pill" imitrex and a once you get a migraine pill" Fioricet. But the Fioricet is beggining to stop working.
Avatar m tn The best OTC meds that I have found that works is Excedrin. It is a combo of Aspirin, Tylenol and Caffeine and that happens to be an excellent combo for migraines. 5. I mentioned caffeine before...well, drink coffee, Mt Dew, take Vivirin...sometimes a mega dose of caffeine will stop it in its tracks. 6. If you get nauseous or dizzy get some Meclizine from the pharmacy (the stuff behind the counter) you can take 25mg three times a day as needed. Yes it works on both.
Avatar f tn Migraines are not unusual during detox. It's a rebound problem that has to do not only with the elimination of an opiate but the Tylenol contained in it. I don't know what you generally take for a migraine but I've always had very good luck with Excedrin and/or Maxalt. I hope you feel better...
Avatar f tn it becomes a race btw the Maxalt and the migraine, I have had anywhere from 15-18 per month, also have to use strong coffee and ice pack or it's just a waste of the Maxalt and sometimes it takes another tab to get rid of it completely. So, you can answer me or not, just thought i'd toss the Maxalt out there in case you hadn't tried those yet.
673746 tn?1226010997 I then visited a neurologist who put me on Topamax twice daily and gave me Maxalt in case I have a very bad Migraine. She then sent me for a brain MRI with and without contrast. I have an aunt that was diagnosed recently with MS and my doctor informed me that some people with MS might suffer early in the condition with something called Optic Neuritis. Can somebody weight in on this for me? Is MS genetic? Is it possible to have it and not have any other type of symptoms, should I be concerned?
Avatar m tn I have seen multiple neurologists, had numerous MRI scans, and am currently taking injectible imitrex, with little relief. I have found that taking 3-4 excedrin migraine pills as soon as I first feel pain, or the tingling sensation, prevents an attack from beginning. However, nothing I have tried, including morphine, excedrin, codeine, etc., has stopped an attack once it has actually begun. Any help/advice/suggestions would be extremely appreciated.
Avatar f tn s Maxalt and many other triptans that may help you when you get a migraine. But once the Fioricet clears out, even Advil can help (at least for me!). By the second month, I felt like a new person. I went to some women's AA meetings for support (quiet and listened), and that got me through those early times. You are on the right path--you will feel so much better once that horrible med is out of your system. You will become yourself again and feel real feelings--and that is GOOD!!
Avatar n tn In addition, many medications used to treat migraine headache (Excedrin Migraine Pain Reliever/Pain Reliever Aid, oxygen, prednisone [Deltasone]) can also be used for cluster headache. You should consult a neurologist regarding these treatment options. Apart from this avoid stressful events, develop a regular sleep patterna d do daily exercises. Refer http://www.emedicinehealth.com/cluster_headache/page7_em.
Avatar f tn That was one of the migraine meds I took for about four days and it was crazy expensive. I don't recall that it did anything for me except motivate me to seek another doctor. I think I still have some under the bathroom sink...
Avatar n tn i took 2 maxalt on saturday for a migraine, it didnt help at all, actually made it worse making me vomit for 3 days and today is friday, 6 days later and i still feel like, tired, weak, foggy, not hungry, cant really go to the bathroom even though i feel like i have to. is this gonna go away?
Avatar f tn Maxalt rocks. I love it and carry it everywhere with me. www.maxalt.com Another new med www.relpax.com (I have some, just not had a headache lately to use them) because I take my magnesium :0-). Here is a good site with migraine info. http://www.achenet.org/ And you need to get your migraine "bible" I got mine off of half.com cheap. This book helped me a lot in understanding my headaches and lots of good info.
768044 tn?1294223436 I currently use zomig nasal spray. I give it two thumbs up! In the past I have also used Maxalt (the dissolving kind) and Axert. I like zomig. The taste of the nasal spray isn't great (okay, it's TERRIBLE), but it works better than the tablets (in my personal experience and also this is true in terms of the chemical interaction of the medication in the various forms as they've found via scientific trials...
Avatar f tn I usually see zig zags or get a blind spot 10minutes before the migraine starts and then the throbbing pain behind my eyes and on one side of my head will start, my body will go numb on one side, my tongue will also go numb which will result in me being unable to speak constructively or make any sense.I will get nauseous and eventually end up vomiting. I lose my appetite and become very weak and I'm unable to get any sleep because the pain increases when I lay down.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your response. When I first started having them, my doctor at that time (the one who ordered the original EEG when I was a child) gave me shots of demeral and phenagren for the headaches. I basically slept through them for a day or two. I was having them a couple of times a month. After several years of this I knew I could not spend the rest of my life sleeping through a week a month.
Avatar f tn I was getting regular migraines too. My doctor said I could take excedrin migraine as it was safe, only the migraine tabs, not just basic excedrin.
1125820 tn?1265284446 Opiates are another analgesic that is sometimes prescribed for migraines, although these too do not work for the vast majority of migraine headaches and also can have high side-effect profiles and high-dependency profiles. If an opiate is prescribed, it is important that it is not an opiate with a high side-effect profile, as such a medication will only worsen the migraine symptoms of nausea and vomiting.
655875 tn?1295695107 Yesterday I woke up with a pretty bad headache and I knew it was going to turn into a migraine. I had ran out of migraine medicine a few days before and never got around to have it picked up for me. I will never do that again. By afternoon I was getting the full body sweats, then chills, then sweats, to chills again. Meanwhile I'm vomiting and dry heaving what wasn't coming up. It was absolutely horrible and my head was pounding severely. I had ice packs all over my head and neck.
Avatar m tn it can easily turn into a HUGE migraine...and then what? then instead of taking the 2 excedrin you would have taken in the morning...you take about 8 just to get rid of the migraine. hence the reason you might consider a taper of the NSAIDs. but to each their own. while the addiction factor isn't high on this med, discontinuing them can produce some very painful migraines.
Avatar f tn I get these terrible headaches usually to one side of my head but they usually only come the week before my menstral and last a couple days with taking some meds like excedrin...well now it has come back before this time and along with it I cant focus on anything I feel dizzy lightheaded and extremely tired but try to lay down and cant sleep the goes from my temple to the side of my neck...Help any ideas of what is causing this...I called dr cant get an appt till thurs....but im worrried...
Avatar f tn When I was having frequent migraines and my insurance would only pay for one refill of Maxalt each month, I obtained prescriptions for both Maxalt and Relpax and filled both each month. They worked equally well for me.
