macrobid treatment for uti

I JUST FINISHED MACROBID 7 DAY TREATMENT. MY MENSTRUAL CAME 3 DAYS EARLY AND THERE IS BRIGHT RED BLOOD AND USUALLY MY MENSTRUAL BLOOD IS NOT THAT BRIGHT. I INITIIALLY WASNT DUE FOR MY MENSTRUAL UNTIL YESTERDAY I'VE BEEN BLEEDING SINCE THE 3RD AND IM STILL BLEEDING BUT NOT ALOT LIKE I WAS YESTERDAY AND THE DAYS BEFORE BUT THE BLEEDING HAS LIGHTENED. THE BLEEDING WILL COME OUT IN MY URINE I WANT TO KNOW WILL THE BLEEDING STOP?

Yea they put me on it for a while for a uti. I'm resistant to it, but other than that its totally safe for pregnant women.

Hello, I went to the doctor 7 days ago after experiencing symptoms of a UTI (pain, blood in urine, frequent urination). The doctor said I had a UTI, and prescribed 100mg Macrobid, 2x a day for 7 days. I just finished my last dose. I no longer have pain, burning, or blood when going to the bathroom, however I do have a general discomfort in my lower abdomen. What does this mean?

I took Bactrim for my UTI recently. The nurse said the anti-biotic wouldn't have any effects on the baby but if they UTI stayed around it would cause pre-term labor. I'm assuming the benefits out-weight the negatives. I don't think your doctor would have prescribed you something unsafe for your baby.

i know that he wouldnt give me something that would be harmful, and not treating it would be more harmful then taking medications .. i would just like to hear if anyone eles has taken this medication for a uti and if they had any side effects with it? i tryed to look for infromation on the net about it but there were to many mixed reviews on this... or is there any other safer drugs you've take for uti's?

I was perscribed Macrobid today for a UTI however I cannot swallow pills, therefore I opened up two capsules that I have taken so far and simply put them in apple sauce is this okay?

They put me on Macrobid, which seemed to help for a couple of days before the frequent urge to urinate returned. I went back to the doctor and they put me on Cipro 500MG 2x daily. Same thing: felt relief from my symptoms for 2-3 days, then felt a relapse. I have 2 days left on the Cipro. About halfway through my initial treatment of Macrobid, I felt a burning/itching that seemed consistent with a yeast infection, which I'd gotten before because of antibiotic use.

I am 23 years old. I have relapsing-remitting MS and was given Macrobid for a UTI. After my first day of Macrobid, my entire left side has gone numb and i have lost function in it. I do know that the weakness and numbness in one side can be caused by the MS, but it did not occur until i took the macrobid. I was stopped from taking the macrobid and started on it 2 more times and each time the weakness returned. Is there anyway to fix this?

UTIs are common during pregnancy but can cause serious problems if not treated immediately. I had UTI during my first trimester, was prescribed Macrobid, and it was gone in a couple days. Best wishes!

After repeated treatments, it is common for the bacteria causing UTI to become resistant. Given the delayed response to treatment, most likely you were infected with a strain resistant to nitrofurantoin -- which these days is not the usual drug used for UTIs anyway. You might talk to your doctor about other possible treatments in the future. Second, if your UTIs regularly are triggered by sex, you might take a single dose of antibiotic after intercourse.

I got a uti January 31st I did a 10 day round of macrobid then went back to the doc still had it when I went back Feb 22nd so did another 7 days of macrobid still didn't get rid of it finally March 25th I got a shot of rocephin which cleared it up.

Ever since I have requested macrobid as the others still have failed to work. Now it appears as if macrobid no longer works. Also, for two years I have had blood in my urine (even when I don't have a UTI). Ok so I am now 9 weeks pregnant and I have a uti. My doc precribed me the antibiotic macrobid. She said it is safe during pregnancy but I have read so many post from woman online who say macrobid caused them problems nor even miscarriage. I have had 3 miscarriages and this pregnancy seems to be going really well. So im very nervous to take this med. Do any of you ladies know of any natural ways to get rid of a uti? Also if you have taken this med during pregnancy, what was the out come?

I was given macrobid at 20 weeks for a uti my dr said it was safe to take while pregnant. Im now almost 32 weeks and baby is fine. Although i think she said yeast infections were common with it I never got one. These sites online may not be the most reputable so I wouldn't listen much. Plus if you dont take meds you could end up with bladder or kidney infection.

Hi.. has anyone else taken macrobid for uti?? Is it normal to feel horribly sick with it? How did you all deal with the nausea? My doc gave me reglan but it doesn't seem to be helping and I'm hardly half way with macrobid.. I've been non functional while taking it and it's getting worse every day. I had UTI and treated with Ciprofloxin ,after my family doctor changed the medicine to Macrobid 100 ( 2 times/day) for ten days.2 Urine tests are done and still the symptons fo Nitrofuratoin are available ,Dr says we have to continue .Internal physical rectal examination said right enlarge ment of prostrate. I am 44.PSA test shows high 62 .Doctor is still taking this as Prostitis.I have been asked to get another PSA after 10 days of Microbid course.

I've had 3 UTIs this pregnancy and everytime the doctor had prescribed macrobid, but it doesnt seem to do anything. I drink alot of water and cranberry juice, but nothing is seeming to help. Anyone have this problem or suggestions?
