macrobid and uti

I took macrobid for a UTI as well and it didn't make me nauseated (although it may havr , but its hard to tell I'm always nauseated) however it did give loose stools. Antibiotics, while they kill the bad infection causing bacteria, also kill all the good bacteria in your GI tract. They are renowned for causing GI upset. Unfortunately in the case of a UTI stronger broad spectrum antibiotics are usually needed since the bacteria that causes them can be a bit more resistant.

Was in the ER weekend before last. Diagnosed me with a UTI, and put me on Macrobid 100mg BID. Got a call yesterday, they said my culture reads that the bacteria in my urine is resistant to Macrobid. So apparently they didn't do a Culture and Sensitivity test when I was in the ER like they should have. I had to pay $50 for the Macrobid that I took, that didn't and wouldn't do diddly-squat for my "UTI". I think I was misdiagnosed and mistrated with the Macrobid.

I went to my gyn I had a uti he gave me meds macrobid and said it will also help my throat . But I don't see how plus I don't feel comfortable taking meds while I'm pregnant Is there anything I can do without meds ?for UTI and Sore Throat if not did anybody take MACROBID while pregnant ?

s an inflammatory response. And it gets better when the uti is healed and enough time passes for normalization. The antibiotics kill off bacteria causing the uti which then reduces inflammation. So, I'd say this is a real possibility. I know you posted a link which I opened and read. I guess they are studying it but it does appear to be pretty rare. e,, The UTIs are probably contributing to a relapse and docs solution to the UTI is macrobid - aah, and then benadryl to try to quell the reaction to the macrobid! No wonder you are at your wits end. My suggestion is to look the doc dead in the eye and demand another antibiotic for the UTI. Tell he/she you are willing to take your chances on another med. How long does the numbness and loss of function last each time?

Uti or bladder infection. My doctor proscribed me macrobid. Terrified to take it, anyone else had to use this while pregnant, I'm only 8 weeks!

I posted on here earlier this week that I was having burning after urination but doc tested and no uti well it got worse and I ended up back at the doc and turns out it is a uti.. She prescribed me macrobid... Has anyone else taken this? Any complications with it?

I have chronic bladder infections and on long term Macrobid and still get frequent UTIs. I have had 3+ bacteria for the last 2 months despite Cipro and Levaquin. This morning the UTI is back with burning, frequency. They did not do a C&S before Cipro I think because it is always e-coli. What could be wrong with these 2 meds not working?....I am so tired of this pain and burning. I also have had lower back pain and groin pain for the last 2 mos.

I had 2 uti since pregnant and im 18 weeks today.***** you keeo running to the bathroom hardly anything coming out. But just give up juice and soda for a while and drink water. Thats my problem I love juice lol. Take your antibiotics until there gone an you will be back to normal you can drink some non sugar cranberry juice.

I have just gotten off of meds for a horrible uti. I finished the meds yesterday. They are not to be taken during pregnancy. They are macrobid and metronidazole. Just found out I'm pregnant today and I'm super worried.

Ok so I am now 9 weeks pregnant and I have a uti. My doc precribed me the antibiotic macrobid. She said it is safe during pregnancy but I have read so many post from woman online who say macrobid caused them problems nor even miscarriage. I have had 3 miscarriages and this pregnancy seems to be going really well. So im very nervous to take this med. Do any of you ladies know of any natural ways to get rid of a uti? Also if you have taken this med during pregnancy, what was the out come?

I've been told I have a UTI and was given Macrobid/Nitrofurantoin. I have taken 3 tablets but out of curiosity I looked them up on the internet and it said some women have lost their babies days after taking the tablets. Has anyone taken these and had a healthy pregnancy?!

Just tingling and pressure/pain in her bladder area.. So anyway she went to the doctor and they said she had a uti, and gave her macrobid. She said they were also doing a urine culture, but its been two weeks and she has not mentioned any results.. Well in less than 48 hours of being on macrobid she said all her symptoms were gone.. I do know that the weakness and numbness in one side can be caused by the MS, but it did not occur until i took the macrobid. I was stopped from taking the macrobid and started on it 2 more times and each time the weakness returned. Is there anyway to fix this? It is getting rather annoying and saddens me cause it feels like i cant do anymore what i like to. If anyone has had the same thing happen, please let me know im not alone... How can the weakness and numbness be stopped.

i know that he wouldnt give me something that would be harmful, and not treating it would be more harmful then taking medications .. i would just like to hear if anyone eles has taken this medication for a uti and if they had any side effects with it? i tryed to look for infromation on the net about it but there were to many mixed reviews on this... or is there any other safer drugs you've take for uti's?

I am 16 wks. pregnant and my OB prescribed Macrobid for UTI, i had urinalysis and small amount of blood was noted. I told my OB that my urologist said that im always will have blood in my urine beacuse of hx. of cyst in my kidney so I requested to have urine culture prior to taking Macrobid, my OB is insistant to start the med. since it is going to take awhile for culture results to come back. so im already in my 4rt day of the meds.

I was the same way with my 1st. I have 5 now though and have taken that and all my little ones were very healthy at birth. You will feel better after the 1st or 2nd pill.

Hey Jen, Macrobid (as they say the yellow and black pill) is also for UTI and is not harmful to baby unless you breast feed or you take the drug in the last 2-4 weeks of pregnancy. Its actually a class B drug. Bactrim is a class C drug, which means you would have a higher chance of harming the baby, although, there are many women who doctors prescribe bactrim to.

Is either proteus mirabilis or proteus vulgaris resistant to macrobid? I have a UTI that is resistant to macrobid and my doctor mentioned one of the above as the cause--I believe. I had to switch to another antibiotic. Just curious?

I had a recent UTI with staph, and they gave me macrobid. I was also on bactrim for a staph infection on my skin, and that wasn't helping the UTI, so they gave me macrobid along with the staph.
