Had 2 negative cultures but many WBC and RBC’s. Finally did a cathed sample and came back e-Coli over 100,000. Put on Cipro and symptoms disappeared but have returned 2 more times since. Both times testing positive for e-Coli. Had KUB (negative) and kidney ultrasound ( negative but a cyst on both kidneys Dr says no concern). Urine is clear now except the Trace/small blood on dipstick. I check it daily at home. (Maybe a little excessive haha).
However, a week or 2 later, my frequent urination and irritation came back, and he put me on macrobid. This seemed to work a little for my urethral problems,but it worked A LOT for my testicle, which started to feel a lot better after weeks of pain. However, I finished the meds and still have many symptoms. He has now put me on cipro for 3 WEEKS and has no clue what's wrong dispite bladder utrasounds and scans. Any ideas?
I suffer from incontinence somewhat so figure I am the source of my e-coli UTIs. I am currently on prophylaxis treatment of bactrim. They are hoping this will stop them. Anyone else suffer from this or have any suggestions?
On another note, there are some rumors that copays for MS drugs could rise dramatically come Jan 1st in some states. In order to make health ins affordable, and because no one can be denied health ins anymore, there are rumblings that our medication copays will go up.
I saw a different doctor a few weeks later and this time in the doctors office it showed WBC so he put me on Macrobid and it made me feel better for like 2 days then not so much. When it was sent out it again came back group b. He put me on amox again for 10 days and then to come back in for another test. It showed no WBC at the office. When sent out it came back with some real low counts of bacteria I guess. He said it would read as a negative? But I still had the symptoms I always had.
I recently was diagnose with a bladder infection cause by E. coli on , and i didn't get it through sexual intercourse, you know how you usually get it from back to front. I been under treatment. Do I need to treat my husband??. I was wondering what can be the cause of it. And also wonder why it feels like my vagina feel so hot sensation and also burns and itches. Any answer would be really appreciated .
When I got home 6 days later my symptoms were still present so I went to doctor. Urine culture was positive for E. Coli and entercoccus. I was put on Macrobid for 5 days didn’t help at all, was then switched to Cipro for 5 days. After 24hrs on Cipro all my symptoms went away. One week later my symptoms of a UTI retuned. Back to the doctors I went culture this time showed bacteria count less then 10,000. My doctor felt the infection was gone but I could be having bladder spasms.
Well, you have no need to worry. You shouldn't have E. coli unless you got poop and not a fart on the towel etc. Here is a link to the composition of farts. They are mostly gases as you can tell by the smell methane is one of the components or sometimes hydrogen sulfide. Mostly they are made up of hydrogen and nitrogen. Some sugar breakdown may be in there too. So, despite their smell and that they do come from the breakdown of bacteria and food you should be A-OK.

I recently have been struggling with a persistent UTI. The first test was positive for Enterococcus Species. Not E-coli. I was prescribed amoxicillan. So just because you don't have E-coli doesn't mean you don't have an infection. After the entire course of amoxicillan I was still having symptoms. So another urine culture and THAT one found E-coli. I was put on Cipro and the culture report has a list of 11 antibiotics and how helpful each is for this type of infection.
3. If so since I have bascially been on macrobid for almost two weeks how long should I wait before I take the gonherrea/chlymadia urine test? When will the results be accurate?
4. Is there some other cause even std related I should be exlporing with my doctor? I have grown tired of just going in for the same tests with no real improvement other than just a couple of weeks here and there with relief.

I went to a urologist and he told me I had E Coli in my urine (I believe he did a urine test of some kind). There is something strange though. Besides the urinary symptoms, I'm experiencing premature ejaculation (not sure if it's because I laid off the masturbation for a while) and another symptom that freaks me out: Sometimes when I ejaculate, I can't urinate for over an hour.
You could have a persistent UTI or it could be chlamydia or even a bacterial vaginosis that is not responsive to the antibiotics prescribed. It is important to know that STDs, yeast, or e coli are the most common causes of UTIs. The culture will let your physician know what antibiotics to prescribe based on the results. Sorry I am not of more help!
The pain has been brutal over the past couple of weeks, but I was sure my urine was clean because I had it checked about 3 weeks ago and doc put me on Macrobid. Today she put me on Keflex, which I guess is more narrow spectrum for E. Coli. I hate utis! They are very debilitating for me. Anyway, take care.
If you are truly having infections this frequently the cultures should grow a true bladder bacteria like E Coli. Lactobacillis is a normal organism found the healthy vagina, and is not a bladder infection. As you void, the urine can pick up vaginal bacteria that grown in the culture. If these episodes are not a bacterial infection, and don't respond to antobiotics, then what are they?
It sounds to me you have a chronic E. coli infection which is surprising to me. How were you diagnosed with the E. coli? Where is it in your body? E. coli is an Enterococcus and this is what the major food borne infections are. They can be quite serious therefore I would not put off going back to your doctor and getting checked out again...and I mean pronto.
Im 5 foot tall weigh 115 and ride just about any motorcycle you put me on..But here dec. 4th I ended up with e-coli. I was layed up 4 9 days before I called an ambulance, stayed in the hospital for 5 more, came hoem to be on antibiotics for 21 more. Thats 35 days total I had this toxin posining in my system. But that was 6 months ago & I went from riding motorcycles to not being able to hardly bath myself. Im having serizes were I go blind..Im week ALL the time.
