I had unprotected sex with a new partner...and a week or so later i noticed pelvic pain. Made an appt and get tested for stds (12 days after unprotected sex). The doc found a uti and rx'd macrobid. Std tests came back negative. Macrobid didn't help and i developed burning with urination...doc gave me cipro. After cipro burning and pelvic pain was worse, so i went to the er. They found cervicitis and swabbed the pus for a std test and rx'd doxycycline for 2 weeks.
She had a severe allergic reaction to levaquin back in september, but recent rash did not begin until feb. She was taking macrobid for kidney infection in jan. but rash did not begin until feb. she has seen primary care, infectious disease control and allergy doctos and none of them can tell her what it is or what causes it. Biopsy says bacterial fungus, but steroids and antibiotics not helping.
No change in bowel or bladder except he recently has been on levaquin for second episode of prostatitis (first episode 20 years ago).
Any ideas about what is going on?

I saw my urologist to day and he said the epidimydis is inflamed. He prescribed macrobid which he said is not as good an antibiotic, but that there is not much choice in my case because I am allergic to other medicines. I hope it works!
t know why he ordered Levaquin vs another ATB. Tinnitus and the being off balance are two different symptoms. One is not causing the other. Have you read the side effects from Levaquin? There are quite alot, and I believe this drug has been "black boxed" in the USA. However, I am not so sure this caused your problems or your problems are unrelated to the Levaquin.
However, I did have intensified gut and neuro symptoms as well as anxiety, all of which are attributed to Bartonella. I am still on Levaquin for it even though my anxiety is gone.
Hi, I am a 29 year old female - I have had UTIs since I was about 15yrs old continuously, once or twice a month. The urologist put me on macrobid as a prevenitive medicine to take before intercourse a few years ago. Following those instructions lessened my UTIs to no more than 4 times per year of getting UTIs (much more bearable). Then on Feb. 2nd 2010, I had what I will call an "episode".
I have an ear infection needing antibiotics (Levaquin. 500mg). The pharmacist said that these two meds are contraindicated. My cardiologist said to go off of Flecainide for 2 weeks while taking the Levaquin.
The bad news is that I am scared to go off on a med that I have been taking for a long time. The good news is that I will find out if the meds are causing my daily symptoms of nausea, extreme fatigue, sleepiness and I don't need anti arrhythmic agents for A-Fib.
My 21 yr. old daughter has become sexually active within the last 6 months and has suffered what we thought has been 2 UTI's.. Severe bladder pressure and frequent urination. She was cultured with no sign of infection and given macrobid..didn't work...and then given levaquin and prescribed 800 mg. of ibuprofen every 4 hours. This episode took 9 days and 2 different doctor visits to get better.
May any of this be side effects of lavoquin or his chest congestion, which now im questioning if it is a congestion anymore. How can you decipher chest pain from chest congestion vs.
QUESTIONS Since 1st post
ONE - Cold i had turned to Brochitus, Dr prescribed 750mg Levaquin 10 days. Can Levaquin interfere with RNA test?
TWO - Only symptoms I have are Bronchitus, nasuea that lasts 10 minutes comes & goes around dinner time, shooting nerve pain in abdomen, racing feeling & red face for a few days. No fever, swollen nodes as far as I can tell. Do not remember Levaquin causing me nausea when I have taken it before?
If you arent going to the doc, please drink plenty of fluids! But if its a true UTI, you need to get to the doc for some abx- most likely macrobid, septra, maybe even cipro or levaquin.
Then he has changd the prescription to Levaquin 500 for 10 days. It is the 4th day, bu there is no change. Actually the temprature shoots up after taking these medicines( both azi and leva). Please help.. What is it happening with him?
I'm a 31 female and have had 20 uti's in the past 2yr. Recently I had 3 uti's in one month. Each uti becomes more painful than the last (dysuria, pain in lower abd). I have cultures done on all UA's and all result in lacotbacilli growth only. I have tried a daily dose of macrobid, urination after sex, increase in fluid intake, cranberry tabs, and every thing else that my doctor has told me to do.
DOES MACROBID CAUSE BLEEDING OR MAKE YOUR MENSTRUAL CYCLE COME EARLY. I JUST FINISHED MACROBID 7 DAY TREATMENT. I INITIIALLY WASNT DUE FOR MY MENSTRUAL UNTIL YESTERDAY I'VE BEEN BLEEDING SINCE THE 3RD AND IM STILL BLEEDING BUT NOT ALOT LIKE I WAS YESTERDAY AND THE DAYS BEFORE BUT THE BLEEDING HAS LIGHTENED.
Therefore, a week after the followup, the doctor again prescribed a 7-day course of treatment with Macrobid. Although I saw a mild improvement mid-week, the symptoms never really went away, and at the end of the 7 days were just as bad. My urologist then prescribed Levaquin for 7 days. Again, the symptoms improved somewhat and then returned full-blast.
I have just finished the Levaquin and am at a loss what to do next.
I do know that the weakness and numbness in one side can be caused by the MS, but it did not occur until i took the macrobid. I was stopped from taking the macrobid and started on it 2 more times and each time the weakness returned. Is there anyway to fix this? It is getting rather annoying and saddens me cause it feels like i cant do anymore what i like to. If anyone has had the same thing happen, please let me know im not alone... How can the weakness and numbness be stopped.
I was told at this appointment that the culture did not grow anything. The urologist has switched antibiotics from macrobid to cephalexin to levaquin over the past three weeks. However, over the past 4 months I have been one cipro, keflex and levaquin one time before this medicine came from the PCP before an appointment was made with an urologist.

t think I should take antibiotics before I see a dr because if I have a yeast infection, the levaquin or macrobid will make it worse. I wonder if I never had a UTI to begin with and it was always just a yeast infection. The discharge is white but like clearish white not opaque and not thick and not a bad smell. Also antibiotics require eating, which I am not capable of that right now. I have reglan for the nausea. I asked for zofran but was told that it's really for cancer paitients.
Did anyone take macrobid for uti during third trimester?
Uti or bladder infection. My doctor proscribed me macrobid. Terrified to take it, anyone else had to use this while pregnant, I'm only 8 weeks!
