However, a week or 2 later, my frequent urination and irritation came back, and he put me on macrobid. This seemed to work a little for my urethral problems,but it worked A LOT for my testicle, which started to feel a lot better after weeks of pain. However, I finished the meds and still have many symptoms. He has now put me on cipro for 3 WEEKS and has no clue what's wrong dispite bladder utrasounds and scans. Any ideas?
I suffer from incontinence somewhat so figure I am the source of my e-coli UTIs. I am currently on prophylaxis treatment of bactrim. They are hoping this will stop them. Anyone else suffer from this or have any suggestions?

Had 2 negative cultures but many WBC and RBC’s. Finally did a cathed sample and came back e-Coli over 100,000. Put on Cipro and symptoms disappeared but have returned 2 more times since. Both times testing positive for e-Coli. Had KUB (negative) and kidney ultrasound ( negative but a cyst on both kidneys Dr says no concern). Urine is clear now except the Trace/small blood on dipstick. I check it daily at home. (Maybe a little excessive haha).
I went to a urologist and he told me I had E Coli in my urine (I believe he did a urine test of some kind). There is something strange though. Besides the urinary symptoms, I'm experiencing premature ejaculation (not sure if it's because I laid off the masturbation for a while) and another symptom that freaks me out: Sometimes when I ejaculate, I can't urinate for over an hour.
Did you ever resolve this? I am going through the same thing right now. On my 3rd course of antibiotics in 6 weeks. This time, the culture came back as both e-coli and GBS, so I'm on two different antibiotics but they don't seem to be helping yet with the pain. I have an apointment with a urologist in a couple weeks, but I'm really worried. I don't want to wait to find out why this keeps coming back!
I recently was diagnose with a bladder infection cause by E. coli on , and i didn't get it through sexual intercourse, you know how you usually get it from back to front. I been under treatment. Do I need to treat my husband??. I was wondering what can be the cause of it. And also wonder why it feels like my vagina feel so hot sensation and also burns and itches. Well, you have no need to worry. You shouldn't have E. coli unless you got poop and not a fart on the towel etc. Here is a link to the composition of farts. They are mostly gases as you can tell by the smell methane is one of the components or sometimes hydrogen sulfide. Mostly they are made up of hydrogen and nitrogen. Some sugar breakdown may be in there too. So, despite their smell and that they do come from the breakdown of bacteria and food you should be A-OK.

My wife asked me to make my 20 month old sons milk... so i got his sippy cup filled it with water and formula and mixed it by putting my finger over the mouth opening. I am so scared i passed bacteria (especially e.coli) from the meat to my son. What are the chances? When would symptoms appear? When I got home 6 days later my symptoms were still present so I went to doctor. Urine culture was positive for E. Coli and entercoccus. I was put on Macrobid for 5 days didn’t help at all, was then switched to Cipro for 5 days. After 24hrs on Cipro all my symptoms went away. One week later my symptoms of a UTI retuned. Back to the doctors I went culture this time showed bacteria count less then 10,000. My doctor felt the infection was gone but I could be having bladder spasms.
After the entire course of amoxicillan I was still having symptoms. So another urine culture and THAT one found E-coli. I was put on Cipro and the culture report has a list of 11 antibiotics and how helpful each is for this type of infection. Amoxicillan isn't even on the list for E-coli. I would call you doctor again and ask what antibiotic WOULD help. I can't believe your doctor would just let this go! And always ask for copies of your test results. Good luck to you!

I have suffered from recurrent uti's for about two years. I am female, 30 years old. Primary symptom will be a burning when I urinate and back pain. I have been tested many times at the doctor, I think at least 5 times for trichomonias- mostly with the doctor looking under the microscope and once about 3 weeks ago with a DNA test. Also have been tested for gonherrea and chlymadia many times both with the urine test and pelvic swab.
Well at the midwifes shes test my wee again and still found odd things so she rung for my results which discovered i had an E Coli UTI!!! I am allergic to penicillin and they gave me something else to combact it.. But my doctor rang after taking my first dose, making me aware that there is a high chance of me having an allergic reaction to this too and made me aware of side affects.

The pain has been brutal over the past couple of weeks, but I was sure my urine was clean because I had it checked about 3 weeks ago and doc put me on Macrobid. Today she put me on Keflex, which I guess is more narrow spectrum for E. Coli. I hate utis! They are very debilitating for me. Anyway, take care.
You could have a persistent UTI or it could be chlamydia or even a bacterial vaginosis that is not responsive to the antibiotics prescribed. It is important to know that STDs, yeast, or e coli are the most common causes of UTIs. The culture will let your physician know what antibiotics to prescribe based on the results. Sorry I am not of more help!
