macrobid

Avatar n tn There seems to be a connection with Crohn's pain and oral contraceptives, so the same might hold true with estrogen replacement. http://www.crohns.org.uk/Docs/5/The%20oral%20contraceptive%20pill%20and%20Inflammatory%20Bowel%20Disease.
Avatar m tn The decision about whether to use oral contraceptives is very complicated, and needs to be researched thoroughly and considered in the context of each woman's health history and risk factors for various types of cancer. The research on whether oral contraeptives raise the risk for breast cancer is inconclusive. Older studies, based on the early birth control pills that contained much higher levels of hormones than today's low-dose pills suggested there was an increased risk. esp.
Avatar n tn When a woman is taking oral contraceptives and has to also take antibiotics (such as Cipro) that could decrease the effectiveness of the oral contraceptives, it is recommended that she use a back up method of contraception (i.e. a condom) during the entire time she is on the antibiotics and for 7 days after she stops taking the antibiotics. For more information, you may want to consult with a health care provider or a pharmacist." I would still advise you to check with your doctor.
Avatar f tn However, a week or 2 later, my frequent urination and irritation came back, and he put me on macrobid. This seemed to work a little for my urethral problems, but it worked A LOT for my testicle, which started to feel a lot better after weeks of pain. However, I finished the meds and still have many symptoms. He has now put me on cipro for 3 WEEKS and has no clue what's wrong dispite bladder utrasounds and scans. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn Was in the ER weekend before last. Diagnosed me with a UTI, and put me on Macrobid 100mg BID. Got a call yesterday, they said my culture reads that the bacteria in my urine is resistant to Macrobid. So apparently they didn't do a Culture and Sensitivity test when I was in the ER like they should have. I had to pay $50 for the Macrobid that I took, that didn't and wouldn't do diddly-squat for my "UTI". I think I was misdiagnosed and mistrated with the Macrobid.
Avatar f tn I think that there are alot of options open to you besides birth contol pills or taking oral meds....like Brooke said almost all pills have such a risk of clots manifesting themselves especially if you have a family history of blood clots the % goes up for incidence. You may want to look at all other options out there for you besides taking "the pill" and i know there are many of them out there.
Avatar m tn Hi Dr's I'm hoping you can answer some questions for me, I made the mistake of reading some forums and wonder if I may have contracted NGU which I have never heard of until reading these forums. I had what I would think was a non risk exposure experimenting with another male. He performed protected oral sex on me and also spit on the head of my penis when the condom wasn't on me and rubbed it in. From everything I have read this is a non risk exposure.
Avatar f tn Breakthrough bleeding(bleeding while taking the active pills of combined oral contraceptives, or other hormonal contraceptives),spotting and changes in menstrual flow are common side effects after starting the oral contraceptives and they are frequent while taking the triphasic contraceptive(orthotricyclen). Breakthrough bleeding is most common when a woman first begins taking oral contraceptives, or changes from one particular oral contraceptive to another.

Avatar n tn After unprotected intercourse and oral sex with a new girlfriend I soon developed bleeding of the gums and an intermittent light burning in the prostate area. Is Staphylococcus considered an STD and will the antibiotic Microbid kill it? Thank you.
Avatar f tn acetaminophen for the pain is OK. hemangiomas are not caused by oral contraceptives nor are cysts. adenomas and FNH lesions in the liver are. If pain is due to the cyst or hemangioma then surgery is sometimes done. You should not have to wait months to see someone. What type of specialist are you to see/ Where do you live?
Avatar f tn I am 43 years old, I used oral contraceptives for more than 7 years. Now, I have this yellowish fluid discharges in my left breast nipple for about 4 years now. Does this fluid discharges have something to do with my prolonged used of oral contraceptives? Does this has something to do with "breast cancer"? I am so worried about it, please help me enlightened. What the best thing to do? Thank you and God Bless.
Avatar f tn If you have higher degree of damage, I would recommend avoiding all oral contraceptives. You are correct, they are hard on the liver and sometimes cause liver damage and elevated LFTs even in healthy women. Recommendation not to take them if you have liver disease is a very sensible one. Try other methods of birth control that don't involve hormones. They do work and work well when used correctly. Congratulations on completing your treatment and feeling so well.
Avatar f tn m kinda worried cuz I later got to find out that antibiotics affect the rate of effectiveness of oral contraceptives. Though after using the oral contraceptive I haven't used the antibiotic now for bout 24hours. Can I continue with the antibiotics? Would the postinor have worked? I need to be sure of whether I might need to take further actions and what actions please if that's the case.

Avatar f tn Hi.. has anyone else taken macrobid for uti?? Is it normal to feel horribly sick with it? How did you all deal with the nausea? My doc gave me reglan but it doesn't seem to be helping and I'm hardly half way with macrobid.. I've been non functional while taking it and it's getting worse every day. Any advise on dealing with it will be appreciated..
Avatar f tn However she warned me that continuous use of oral contraceptives without break is not at all safe and she advised me to stop them immediately. She also advised me to go for loop insertion and asked me to visit her again when the period comes. I stopped using Mala-D from the same day. During the intervening period from 1st July '09 to 1st August '09 I did not get periods but observed scanty bleeding at very frequent intervals which stopped within half or 1 day. Finally, since two days i.
525976 tn?1212467993 Oral contraceptives can most definitely cause or exacerbate anxiety. Whether that is what is going on with you...it's hard to tell. Discuss it with your doc...maybe he will decide to try a different BC pill. Have you ever taken any oral contraceptives before? I was going to say...if you had...and they worked for you with little problems....it may not be a bad idea to ask your doc about going back there again. Good luck.
Avatar f tn If you have the time I would be grateful if you let me know if you have been on oral contraceptives or Mirena coil, when you first started with them and are you still on them. Being newly diagnosed I am very frustrated with the idea that the disease is so far incurable. Many thanks for all your input.
Avatar f tn I am 16 wks. pregnant and my OB prescribed Macrobid for UTI, i had urinalysis and small amount of blood was noted. I told my OB that my urologist said that im always will have blood in my urine beacuse of hx. of cyst in my kidney so I requested to have urine culture prior to taking Macrobid, my OB is insistant to start the med. since it is going to take awhile for culture results to come back. so im already in my 4rt day of the meds.
Avatar f tn Micronor (noretindrone) is a Progestin-only birth control medication. One of the primary side-effects of progestin-only oral contraceptives is irregular menstrual bleeding. This can be spotting or breakthrough bleeding, shortened cycles, or amenorrhea. Amenorrhea is the absence of menstruation (one or more missed periods). This is a normal occurrence for some women taking birth control pills.
Avatar f tn Oh, and have you taken different oral contraceptives each time? If so, that might also be a factor. If things don't get back to normal within the next couple of months, you may want to just make an appointment with your doctor.
Avatar f tn Hi Kate, antibiotics can definitely effect 'oral' contraceptives but i am unaware of antibiotics being a reason for periods to come mid cycle.....if your talking about having one of the implant forms of contraceptives, i would suggest you consult with your doctor about your irregular cycle.
Avatar n tn Overall, however, the risks of endometrial and ovarian cancer appear to be reduced with the use of oral contraceptives, - whereas the risks of breast, cervical, and liver cancer appear to be increased. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor. Take care and keep us posted.
