yes I have been to the doctor and told that they are UTI's...and my husband has good hygiene so I don't think that's the problem...perhaps I am just more prone to getting them! And I'm not familiar with a macrobid...what is that?
So anyway she went to the doctor and they said she had a uti, and gave her macrobid. She said they were also doing a urine culture, but its been two weeks and she has not mentioned any results.. Well in less than 48 hours of being on macrobid she said all her symptoms were gone.. MY question is.. Could her bladder infection have been caused by an std (chlamydia, gonorrhea), and if it was would the macrobid have gotten rid of her symptoms or cured it?
Fast forward a couple weeks and I noticed pelvic pain and symptoms similar to a mild UTI. I started to take macrobid and it did not seem to work that well (usually, my symptoms disappear within a day if it's a UTI on macrobid), so I went back to the nurse practitioner. She said to give it more time. I had an annual with my gyn at the end of that week (week of 10/20/14) so figured I would discuss more with him then if it still persisted.
Turns out I have chlamydia.
My symptoms were uti Symptoms and a bit of yellowish discharge. I took 1000 mg of azithromycin, but it seemed to do nothing. I called and got sent macrobid thinking it was a lingering uti caused by the chlamydia. This also did nothing. I went back to a clinic and got retested positive for chlamydia again 2 weeks later. Took azithromycin again with no relief.
Since then i have been on 5 rounds of antibitoics and tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea 6 times...all negative. What are the chances that all of these are false negatives? 4 out of 6 tests i was on a round of antibiotics. The docs all claim that if there are symptoms, the infection will show if its there...but my head keeps telling me i have gonorrhea. HELP!

Here is the background information:
I have suffered from recurrent uti's for about two years. I am female, 30 years old. Primary symptom will be a burning when I urinate and back pain. I have been tested many times at the doctor, I think at least 5 times for trichomonias- mostly with the doctor looking under the microscope and once about 3 weeks ago with a DNA test. Also have been tested for gonherrea and chlymadia many times both with the urine test and pelvic swab.
It is not very common for her to get these so I was just wondering if this was a sign of chlamydia. I just think that it is strange for her to have uti and eye infection in two days. If I tested negative for gonorrhea does that also mean a negative result for chlamydia?? Is eye infection common std symptom??

My tests came back negative for HIV, Sphillis, HEP A,B and C as well as oral and penile Gonnorhea and Clamydia (urine test and oral swab). I am now in a committed relationship with a woman. We had unprotected sex a week ago and she developed some buring after unprotected sex. Do you believe that this is just a UTI or could I actually have an STD from the experiences described above that was not picked up through my STD testing? Please share your thoughts, I am stressed out.
Hi.. has anyone else taken macrobid for uti?? Is it normal to feel horribly sick with it? How did you all deal with the nausea? My doc gave me reglan but it doesn't seem to be helping and I'm hardly half way with macrobid.. I've been non functional while taking it and it's getting worse every day.
Any advise on dealing with it will be appreciated..
It is possible to have more than one process. Your findings and their timing are consistent with a UTI, followed by a yeast infection. Your negative tests for STDs indicate that you did not have STDs. The UTI treatment might have inadvertently treated an STD but it is not particularly likely. Bottom line, the differentiation is derrived first and formost by test results, interpreted in the contect of the time course of exposure and, if present symptoms.
I am 16 wks. pregnant and my OB prescribed Macrobid for UTI, i had urinalysis and small amount of blood was noted. I told my OB that my urologist said that im always will have blood in my urine beacuse of hx. of cyst in my kidney so I requested to have urine culture prior to taking Macrobid, my OB is insistant to start the med. since it is going to take awhile for culture results to come back. so im already in my 4rt day of the meds.
They put me on Macrobid, which seemed to help for a couple of days before the frequent urge to urinate returned. I went back to the doctor and they put me on Cipro 500MG 2x daily. Same thing: felt relief from my symptoms for 2-3 days, then felt a relapse. I have 2 days left on the Cipro.
About halfway through my initial treatment of Macrobid, I felt a burning/itching that seemed consistent with a yeast infection, which I'd gotten before because of antibiotic use.
I went back again with same symptoms and they again saw the bacteria and white blood cells and gave me cephlex. Took all the pills and 9 days later i went back. They said because i had three in a short period that I needed to go to a Urologist. The uti test came negative. I got tested for ghonnorea and chlamydia and every thing came negative. I asked could it be trich?She said no. But i had trich in the past with these same symptoms.
I JUST FINISHED MACROBID 7 DAY TREATMENT. MY MENSTRUAL CAME 3 DAYS EARLY AND THERE IS BRIGHT RED BLOOD AND USUALLY MY MENSTRUAL BLOOD IS NOT THAT BRIGHT. I INITIIALLY WASNT DUE FOR MY MENSTRUAL UNTIL YESTERDAY I'VE BEEN BLEEDING SINCE THE 3RD AND IM STILL BLEEDING BUT NOT ALOT LIKE I WAS YESTERDAY AND THE DAYS BEFORE BUT THE BLEEDING HAS LIGHTENED. THE BLEEDING WILL COME OUT IN MY URINE I WANT TO KNOW WILL THE BLEEDING STOP?
I took Macrobid that I already had at home assuming it was a UTI. The symptoms seemed to come and go. They worsened around April, and I was diagnosed with chlamydia. I'm not sure when I contracted, but I believe it's possible I had it for a few months before being diagnosed.
My partner and I were both treated at the time with azithromycin in the drink form and abstained from sex for 8 days. The symptoms I had subsided significantly and I assumed I was cured.
I and my husband received IV continous infusion Clindamycin treatment times 7 days and the followup testing showed we were both positive with clamydia. I still have pain in my right kidney that I usually have with chronic UTI. I am taking Cipro now for E. facelis but infection will not go away. It is too the point I don't want to have intercourse with my husband. Also did two months of oral macrobid and clarithomycin both I and my husband. Don't know what to do please advise.

Was in the ER weekend before last. Diagnosed me with a UTI, and put me on Macrobid 100mg BID. Got a call yesterday, they said my culture reads that the bacteria in my urine is resistant to Macrobid. So apparently they didn't do a Culture and Sensitivity test when I was in the ER like they should have. I had to pay $50 for the Macrobid that I took, that didn't and wouldn't do diddly-squat for my "UTI". I think I was misdiagnosed and mistrated with the Macrobid.
I do know that the weakness and numbness in one side can be caused by the MS, but it did not occur until i took the macrobid. I was stopped from taking the macrobid and started on it 2 more times and each time the weakness returned. Is there anyway to fix this? It is getting rather annoying and saddens me cause it feels like i cant do anymore what i like to. If anyone has had the same thing happen, please let me know im not alone... How can the weakness and numbness be stopped.
t take it but went back for a second set of std results on Dec 31 and she gave me meds for chlamydia, Gonorrhea, BV and yeast. I took them all plus the macrobid and felt better some, no discharge and nor swollen anymore but still had the pain on the left groin and slight uti symptoms. I've taken all the meds plus valtrex 100mg 3 times during this time to avoid cold sores just in case. Jan 8 the uti symptoms came back again and my clitoris feels swollen or uncomfortable.

I was proscribed it. I habe two different drs and im.being induced monday. And it DIRECTLY states dont use it 37 weeks or later or close to delivery. .. im scared and this pregnancy is so freaking hard on me. Im getting to the point of giving up. And i dont want to cause my boy and family need me to fight.
I just got done taking mine on sunday and everything was fine.

s an inflammatory response. And it gets better when the uti is healed and enough time passes for normalization. The antibiotics kill off bacteria causing the uti which then reduces inflammation. So, I'd say this is a real possibility. I know you posted a link which I opened and read. I guess they are studying it but it does appear to be pretty rare. If you look at that data, it's like 2 patients being looked at in one study and 20 out of 7,500 patients in another for .
around the 5th day I noticed I had hightened anxiety in the middle of the day and night where I just started to panic and thinking about my future and just kind of feeling hopeless out of the blue. Then last night and today I have been struggling with the worst anxiety and depression at random moments, unlike anything I have ever had. Luckily I am finished with it at this point but is this normal to have these strange anxiety/panic moments while on an antibiotic?
