Avatar f tn I was diagnosed way to many years ago and i'm tired I had my last baby in 86 and have been suffering since 1990. I have been on every drug they can think up and its always the same eventually you get to a point when they stop working and you hit the wall. I was taking Phentermine but they took it off the market it helped with the fatigue. Now I take Dexidrine, allertec and Strattera to get me through the day Rivitril to keep me asleep, I take Narcotics for pain Ocycontin and Lyrica.
Avatar f tn News top ten neurology hospitals in the country, which includes the Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Methodist Hospital in Houston, UCLA, and Boston Mass. Neurontin and Lyrica help nerve pain, I take the latter, but it's awfully potent.
7163794 tn?1457366813 In my n/a mtg I've met a woman (she was obviously loaded) and she says she takes lyrica. What is that...I thought it was non-narcotic but I have never seen someone behave like this. It was scary to see this, reminded me of where I didn't want to be for sure, but I'm not familiar with w/d off of this, so I don't really know what to tell her. I can pray for her, but she needs more than prayer. The "tics" are unreal???? Any info would be appreciated.

Avatar f tn Your insurance sounds whacked! Please tell its not an HMO ?! Lyrica is not an experimantal drug for this treatment the FDA approved it for the treatment of fibromyalgia. I took it for a few yrs. I gained a bunch of weight & still took ibuprofen by the handfuls for the pain. Ask your Dr about Savella. My dr switched me to this about 3 mnths ago & its amazing. I'm very happy with it.
Avatar f tn I have been prescribed Lyrica please can anyone tell me How soon should I expect to get relief. I'm in so much pain at the moment it doesnt seem to have made helped at all.
Avatar f tn His pain is so severe he cries. He has been placed on Lyrica, Neurontin and celebrex at different times. None seem to do much for the pain if anything relief at all. He also takes a muscle relaxer. Any suggestions.
1334998 tn?1300674856 But in any case, it may be that if you treat the hypothyroidism, the symptoms which are now being treated with Lyrica will go away. Unless you have other disorders which necessitate the treatment with Lyrica, if you start being treated for your hypothyroidism, you might consider going off the Lyrica so that you can better assess the thyroid medication's effect on your symptoms.
Avatar m tn But she said in Europe the FDA approved Lyrica for anxiety treatment. Its supposedly non addictive. However reviews i have read, users complain of weight gain and increased appetite which my weight is one of my anxieties. Has anyone else tried Lyrica before for anxiety? Its used here is in the US for fibromyalgia, but I took 2 and didn't feel anything so I'm not taking them.
Avatar n tn That is a common effect of Neurontin and Lyrica. Does the Lyrica work to relieve the pain? If so, you may be stuck, but have you talked to your doctor about this? Maybe you should get a regular blood workup to make sure hormones, etc., are okay, since there are other medical causes of weight gain. Could your treatment itself have caused it? Good for you for walking an hour a day. I hope you continue to get strong.
Avatar n tn I also was diagnosed for Fibro-and put on Lyrica-this was done by a pain management dr. The Lyrica caused edema in my feet, legs, hands, and face. Members on this forum asked if I had been to a Rheumatologist-I had not. I went to a Rheumatologist-diagnose: Not Fibromyalgia! My Neurologist also agreed with the Pain Management dr HE sent me to. So have you been to a Rheumatologist? Have you had the fifteen pressure points tested?
Avatar f tn t seem to be helping at all anymore. I have asked about Physical Therapy and Lyrica and was told that they only use those for really bad patients. I have a 1 year old little boy that I stay at home with and most days its all I can do to take care of him and keep up with him. I don't sleep but can't stay awake...I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. Also, for a year I have been having trouble with joint pain and severe swelling of my joints. They will turn black and blue.
Avatar f tn My eyes blureed before Lyrica. The headaches came after Lyrica. My dizziness left with Lyrica. The common denominator here is that I was taking Neurontin before changing to Lyrica. I found that when I took Nerontin regularly I put on weight, but the pain and flu like symptoms decreased enough to notice the difference.
Avatar m tn Due to age, ny doctor prefers passive treatment, i.e., periodic MRIs to determine further growth. My affected scalp area occasionally goes numb and tingles. I take Lyrica to help with nerve pain. Are there any other treatments besides surgery??
669241 tn?1236264344 I'am taking lyrica for the treatment of foot pain caused by class 2 diabetis. I Read all the info on it and it is addictive. This I have to agree with. I just started this [past week taking it and all I want to do is take more . You get a wicked buss from it . I can't explain how it feels, other than it makes you feel good inside with a nice little buzz which makes me want to take more of it than you should. Has anybody else experienced these feelings from Lyrica?
Avatar m tn s become an outdated treatment modality. NEURONTIN and gabapentin are the same thing. Lyrica is a similar drug (pregabalin) used for neuropathy and is a seizure med as well. Hotleo: Give the doctor's recommendation a try and not just one time. Then discuss other options if the side effects don't settle down. Are these meds helping you manage your pain at all?
Avatar m tn I was given lyrica for nerve pain in my legs about four years ago. I didn't take a lot of it, only about 50 mgs every other day. My pain got worse, so I asked the doctor if I could double the dose. Doubling just the first couple of times caused swelling in my mouth and around my eyes, so I dropped lyrica altogether. In no time I was hit with xanax type withdrawal symptoms: depersonalization, lack of concentration and dizziness being the most frightening.
419955 tn?1203011044 Hi kitty, Have you tried Lyrica...I have peripheral neuropathy...The lyrica gives me some relief ..I also take neurotin..I dont like the neurotn as much makes me feel weird...Both medicenes are expensive..keep in touch..
Avatar m tn I am to have a follow up appointment this week to discuss treatment options. My rheumo. has offered/recommended the following: Savella, Cymbalta, or Lyrica. I need some honest feedback from those with Fibro. that have tried these different treatments and which ones worked for you and which ones had extreme side effects, or did not help. Currently I am on Prozac, muscle relaxors (which don't help), and Tramadol (which also doesn't help).
Avatar n tn Sometimes I top off the the pain medication by vaporizing bud. Lyrica is used in the Treatment of neuropathic pain in adults. Cesamet is synthetic THC. It's a nasty thing to have. I believe that the problem is the pain. Kill the pain as much as possible so you can do physio and keep moving. The worse time for me is the morning and then very late at night.
Avatar m tn Maybe that is because we are not doctors, o hesitate to give facts out about medical treatment or prescriptions. I will say I looked Lyrica up on the internet and there are a number of sites to visit that can give you a better idea of what the interactions may be. From what I have read and from being an alcoholic NO medications are really safe when taken with alcohol.
97654 tn?1214348650 Hi Kim First I would like to say that I am so sorry that you're going through this in the first place..... I also wanted to chime in here because I've had a horrible experience with Solumedrol as well.....Back in March I had extreme leg and groin numbness and went on IV Solumedrol for 3 days....I had a nasty reaction to it, but it DID take away the numbness and vision problems almost immediately....Well, within 48 hours anyway.....
Avatar f tn Only one of the medications that I take is listed under treatment options - it is hard to document when I take my PRN meds, or even that I took my regular meds when they aren't listed. Meds like Abilify, Trileptal, Tegretol, Seroquel, Resperidol......I think those are some that should be added! Thanks!
Avatar n tn My daughter has been on multiple drugs over the last two years during diagnosis and treatment and is currently on Lyrica and Percocet. The Lyrica really seems to help her emotionally and physically but now I am worried about the continued use of drugs to alleviate her pain. She says she would just like to have her kidney removed in the hopes the pain will vanish. I, personally don't want this to be an option. Do you have an opinion or suggestions for me?
