I wondered if anyone had done this and what there experience of the drugs are?

Even though pregabalin is approved for The results are still out on whether or not people suffer neurological dependance on this medication. People using high doses of pregabalin (> 1000 mg/day) report problems stopping this medication. 1039200 tn?1314912008 Has anyone heard of Pregabalin (lyrica) for bipolar or anxiety? - my doctor wants me to try, but I have not heard about it before and would like to know if anyone here has tried it or knows anyone who has. Is it used as a mood stabiliser? - I can't find it on the web site ILADVOCATE recomended me a long time ago, does this mean it's not a mood stabiliser or just a new brand?
Avatar f tn I have been taking Lyrica for over 15 years. It helped with chronic and diabetic nerve pain. I have gone from 500 a day down to 200 a day. I cannot sleep at night, gained weight and have severe itching and may have suicide ideology. If there is another drug you can take, take it.
Avatar n tn However i read that they were treating cancer patients with lyrica for their joint and bine pain ....Could you please let me know if it is safe for her to take lyrica for her fibromyalgia !!! Thank you so much for your time in this matter !!!
Avatar n tn Other people have listed Trileptal (Oxcarbazepine), Neurontin (Gabepentin), Elavil (Amitriptyline) and Lyrica (Pregabalin) as some alternatives. I am currently on Lyrica + Cymbalta. I can't say that it's working but still playing with dosages. Anyone reading, please feel free to add your own choices and/or experiences.
Avatar n tn Currently, the 2 most effective medications for peripheral neuropathy that we have available are gabapentin (Neurontin) and pregabalin (Lyrica). The latter is a newer drug and is more expensive than the first. I generally tend to start with gabapentin and will switch to pregabalin if the gabapentin isn't doing the trick. The mediactions may not take away all of your symptoms, although ideally, they will dampen them considerably.
Avatar m tn Hello Papagarv1, Welcome. Sorry I am late in responding to your question. You've asked for no judgement - you won't get that from me. Very sadly ppl in chronic pain have been driven to all kinds sources to treat it. I don't condone buying opiates off the street, especially such a complex med like Methadone. Her risks are very very high! Please do your research. My concern is for her physical safety. Now I'll shut up and answer your question.
Avatar n tn I have had the symptoms since March 09. I am taking Lyrica (Pregabalin). and Cesamet. They seem to be working more or less. Sometimes I top off the the pain medication by vaporizing bud. Lyrica is used in the Treatment of neuropathic pain in adults. Cesamet is synthetic THC. It's a nasty thing to have. I believe that the problem is the pain. Kill the pain as much as possible so you can do physio and keep moving. The worse time for me is the morning and then very late at night.
Avatar f tn It does help some individuals but for others it is simply not effective. Lyrica (Pregabalin) is generally effective in treating nerve pain. I assume with the reduced blood supply to your wrist it is effecting all the tissues and bones including your nerves. I also suggest that you see another orthopedic surgeon or specialist. If treatments is not providing you good pain relief than at the very least you deserve to be comfortable. There are more potent medications that can bring that comfort.
Avatar f tn Prozac (fluoxetine) and Lyrica (pregabalin) (Moderate Drug-Drug) MONITOR: Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. MANAGEMENT: During concomitant use of these drugs, patients should be monitored for potentially excessive or prolonged CNS and respiratory depression.
2107676 tn?1388973859 Your explanation of pregabalin vs. name brand Lyrica makes perfect sense, Pat, from what I've read. Seems as if Pfizer's patent is pretty much "locked in" until late 2018 which means only the ingredient "pregabalin" can be generically produced....NOT a generic likeness of the EXACT same drug. This may interest you: 'Is Pregabalin a Generic Lyrica?" "No, it isn't. Pregabalin is the active ingredient in Lyrica, not a generic version of the drug.
1218873 tn?1300091216 Ask your dr if this is necessary. I switched last winter cold turkey. Both my neuro and my GP said this was fine. I was also told that the equivalent dose of Lyrica to 1800 mg of gabapentin (which is what I was taking) was 150 mg. So instead of taking 300 mg of gabapentin 6 times a day, I switched (all at once) to 50 mg of pregabalin.
Avatar f tn Muscle weakness, pain ,burning pain and fatigue are few of the common symptoms of fibromyalgia. Medications like Duloxetione, pregabalin and Milnacipram have been approved for treating fibromyalgia.Duloxetine, Lyrica, and milnacipran are medications that are approved specifically for treating fibromyalgia. The goal of treatment in this condition is to improve sleep and pain tolerance. Medicines should always be used along with exercise and behavior therapy.
Avatar m tn s become an outdated treatment modality. NEURONTIN and gabapentin are the same thing. Lyrica is a similar drug (pregabalin) used for neuropathy and is a seizure med as well. Hotleo: Give the doctor's recommendation a try and not just one time. Then discuss other options if the side effects don't settle down. Are these meds helping you manage your pain at all?
Avatar m tn The pain is all from inflamed nerve endings and the only pain killer that I have been given from the doc that works is one called LYRICA (pregabalin) as it works specifically on nerve ending pain. Sex is definately a no no as it inflames the whole thing.
