Avatar n tn Anti-seizure drugs are the conventional treatment for fibromyalgia. These include Neurontin and Lyrica. Nobody really knows how these medications treat the symptoms (particularly the aches and pains) of fibromyalgia. These medications can help some individuals with fibromyalgia. But these drugs also have serious side effects.
Avatar m tn I was given the medicine Lyrica, which is for fibromyalgia, which I do not have, and that medicine takes the low back pain away, as well as in my feet! I have been taking it for nearly a year now, and I am not only more comfortable, my mind is able to focus better because I'm not distracted by so much pain. So, I think you should ask your doctor to give it to you, and see if it helps.
Avatar m tn The Lyrica prevented those withdrawals. Lyrica is a miracle drug for me. It helps both my Fibromyalgia and anxiety. Lyrica even enhances my mood and clears my mind. I am up to 300 mg 2x a day. I strongly suggest it for anxiety. I am pleasantly surprised to hear it has been approved for anxiety in another country bc that usually means the United States will do the same eventually. I myself also suffer from addiction so be careful.
Avatar n tn Here are some of the treatment options - Lyrica, Cymbalta, and Savella are the only three drugs approved by the U.S. FDA for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Lyrica is an antiseizure medication, while Cymbalta and Savella are antidepressants. All three have been known to reduce the pain of fibromyalgia significantly.

Avatar f tn I have been on Lyrica for my fibromyalgia and after a year or so it caused my legs to swell. I stopped takng it the swelling never went away and my nerve pain is back with a vengence. Is there any other pain treatments for nerve pain n Lyrica and gabother theapenton?
Avatar m tn Hi, Lyrica shouldn't be addictive at the low doses used for neuropathy. My grandmothers been on it or the other derivative, gabapentin, for years. Just take it at low doses. It works wonders for treating nerve pain though.

Avatar m tn t handle the weight gain, tiredness and bloating that I felt while on Lyrica, although it helped me immensely with pain. Lyrica is an anti-seizure medication too. I switched to Topamax because it didn't cause weight gain and my insurance finally covered it and I was very curious about it. Topamax has helped me with my migraines and is more energizing than Lyrica, although my doctor has told me that many people get tired on it.
Avatar f tn com/threads/lyrica-lawsuit-D77155.htm or the Lyrica Survivors group on Facebook. There are a lot of stories about problems we've had with Lyrica.
Avatar m tn It was too expensive then but they now make a generic Lyrica. It really helped with my fibromyalgia before but it doesn't seem to be as effective now. How long were you on it?
Avatar m tn While Lyrica may sound good and may even make you feel a little better to start with, PLEASE be very suspect and careful with it. I am part of the Lyrica Survivors group on Facebook. There is a class-action lawsuit in development with this due to all of the horrors we have face as a result of Lyrica. I would advise you to check out the Facebook page if you are on or considering taking Lyrica.
10704670 tn?1412128715 ve been taking Lyrica for fibromyalgia for several years, and have been taking a low dosage of just 75 mg. once nightly. For over a month, now, I've been having achy joints in wrists, elbows, and feet -- along with ache behind my eyes, nervousness, and worst of all, "flu-like" feelings going throughout the body. I usually wake in the morning feeling much better, but by late afternoon or evening, all these sick feelings set in.
Avatar n tn Instead medications in the class of skeletal muscle relaxants, SNRI anti-depressants, Trazodone, Lyrica and Savella are the most common ones prescribed for fibromyalgia. And yes, the SNRIs are pain relievers. I suffer from both fibromyalgia and severe migraines. My pain medications for my migraines do nothing for my fibromyalgia pain. So you could look into it. Good luck.
Avatar m tn Does anyone take lyrica and if so, has it made a difference resting at night? Thanks.
Avatar n tn I have b een taking Lyrica for by back for several months. Lyrica is also for nerve damage. I have been 3 days without it(300mg a day) and I must say it truley does help.
299889 tn?1257339377 I am asking for a friend who suffers terribly from fibro, she doesn't do the computer thing. Lyrica didn't work for her as it caused lots of memory problems. She is at a loss, what are some medicines some of you take and the type of doctor you go to?
Avatar n tn I have saver headaches, jaw pain , and TMJ. I take Lyrica and it helps most times. I find that I need to increase the Lyrica medication very often. I take a large amount of Magnisium because my left part of my face is tight and hard to open. MY question is, I do not understand my pain, Do my pain originate in my jaw or my head? In the past I had symptoms of Try mingle Neuralgia. Could that contribute to my facial pain? Why does the Lyrica wont work all the time?
Avatar n tn I've been on Lyrica for seven years. It made a huge difference when I first started it, but my pain control has gone downhill over the past six months.
1252153 tn?1269094321 Lyrica works to control nerve pain and is approved to treat fibromyalgia. Lyrica is a trade name and Pregabalin is the actual name of the medication. Lyrica is a hybrid, so to speak, and similar to gabapentin or Neurontin. Neurontin is approved for use to treat seizures but was found to be helpful with individuals with fibromyalgia Savella is a dual reuptake inhibitor called a SNRI. Which means is it a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor.
