lyrica

10704670 tn?1412128715 ve been taking Lyrica for fibromyalgia for several years, and have been taking a low dosage of just 75 mg. once nightly. For over a month, now, I've been having achy joints in wrists, elbows, and feet -- along with ache behind my eyes, nervousness, and worst of all, "flu-like" feelings going throughout the body. I usually wake in the morning feeling much better, but by late afternoon or evening, all these sick feelings set in.
Avatar f tn I have been on Lyrica for fibromyalgia for years now and dosage have been increasing ever since. It doesn't help me at all despite the increase in strength and now, with a concoction of pain candies and patches. The withdrawals and side effects are way worse so I al getting off them now.
Avatar f tn This is a common issue with fibromyalgia. When I started on Lyrica it went right away. If you do decide to try Lyrica be aware you will feel very sedated for the first couple of weeks but that goes away. Insist on starting on the lowest dosage possible and gradually increasing. Good luck!
Avatar m tn I have had GREAT SUCCESS using Lyrica for anxiety. It was prescribed to me for Fibromyalgia, and I was talking klonopin for anxiety. The 2 mixed together made me nod out. I stopped taking klonopin and had no withdrawals or depression from stopping cold turkey after taking anxiety medicine for years. The Lyrica prevented those withdrawals. Lyrica is a miracle drug for me. It helps both my Fibromyalgia and anxiety. Lyrica even enhances my mood and clears my mind. I am up to 300 mg 2x a day.
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi guys, I'm investigating Lyrica, and a switch over maybe, I'm almost at the max of Gabapentin, so am looking into other options. I have heard though that so many people GAIN lots of weight with Lyrica..... have you folks found that to be a problem?? My mother is 79 and was put on Lyrica..( not to sure why), but apparently gained 40 pounds in 7 weeks, and I for soure don't want that. Extra weight is also hard on us with MS........
735919 tn?1236444549 I am 30yrs old and i am taking Cymbalta for my Fibromyalgia pain but i have to stop it do to my insurance. It works REALLY well for my pain. I wanted to know if anyone is taking Lyrica for their pain and if it works.
5333788 tn?1366569346 Was taking Lyrica since Jan/Feb 2013 for fibromyalgia. Dosage went to 50mg 3x a day to 200mg 1x in the morning, 1x in the evening. Then, in this month was seen by a doctor who increased the dosage from 200mg to 400mg, 200 in the morning, 200 in the evening. Started to feel "high." Reduced medicine to 300mg, 100mg 1x in the morning, 200mg in the evening. Still felt "high." Cried all day through out the day.
Avatar f tn at one point I was wondering if I had MS. Anyway, I just started taking Lyrica for the Fibromyalgia and while it helps with pain, it really leaves me in a MAJOR fog. I was wondering if anyone else was having the same kind of problems with the drug.
394774 tn?1235070839 You can get addicted to lyrica, it is a controlled substance. but if they work for you and take away the pain and you know you are gonna have to take them the rest of your life, who care.
Avatar f tn Has anyone been prescribed lyrica? I have, and have had great results with it for nerve pain in my right arm and hand. Opinions, please. My two other posts with more description vanished, so I will leave with this lol.
602504 tn?1219984096 I take Lyrica for nerve pain, and it is prescribed for fibromyalgia. It works in good synergy with the opiate you are on, too. Give it a try, I take 200mg daily, but you have to start with half of that, it's very strong. Also, you should have them check your lymph glands where your armpits are, to make sure that your arm strength hasn't been affected by infection or cancer spreading to that location.
Avatar f tn Print it out for your doctor. I knew I had read it somewhere. I have battled sever phantom pain for 13 years, had 68 operations, 23 broken bones so I have learned alot over the years. Let me know what you are gonna do about maybe asking your doctor to prescribe a real pain pill www.aboutlawsuits.
5333788 tn?1366569346 All I can say is that I was diagnosed with having fibromyalgia in October 2012. Started taking Lyrica at a very low dose 50mg 3x a day via my primary care physician. Within the 4 months that I've taken it, it has been increased to 400mg~200mg morning, 200mg bedtime. Began feeling "high" and wanted to get off of it. So, with the last doctor's with permission, was told that I could stop taking it. Been having crying spells a lot. Been off of it for 9 days.
Avatar n tn Anti-seizure drugs are the conventional treatment for fibromyalgia. These include Neurontin and Lyrica. Nobody really knows how these medications treat the symptoms (particularly the aches and pains) of fibromyalgia. These medications can help some individuals with fibromyalgia. But these drugs also have serious side effects.
1565420 tn?1304572548 I take Remeron for depression along with a low dose of Lyrica and Trazadone for sleeping. I do know that once the depression was under control that I could handle the pain and issues much better. I'm thinking of getting off of it but scared to mix things up since I've got the fibro managing pretty good right now.
Avatar n tn I had chemo for Hep C and got FM. I don't think there are any Chemo's out there for fibromyalgia. The only thing that is supposed to be the FM drug is Lyrica. It works for me. I have been off chemo for a year and have terrible flares of FM, but the Lyrica does help a lot!
Avatar f tn I have been on Lyrica for nerve pain and muscle spasms and fibromyalgia. Personally I cannot recommend it. Makes me loopier than Neurontin and actually makes the spasms worse. It does help for the nerve pain though. Another thing, its very hard to stop taking. I would look for something else. Some one else chime in, please. If you find something that works, Linda, please let us all know.
Avatar f tn My previous readings were alot lower. My doctor says I have fibromyalgia and has given me Lyrica and Betaloc as my blood pressure is quite high. He hasnt changed my thyroxine dosage which is strange if the results are alot different than normal. I had hyperthyroidism but was given radioactive iodine which made me under active.
299889 tn?1257339377 I am asking for a friend who suffers terribly from fibro, she doesn't do the computer thing. Lyrica didn't work for her as it caused lots of memory problems. She is at a loss, what are some medicines some of you take and the type of doctor you go to?

Avatar f tn Sometimes, the pain goes away in my legs, but comes as soon as the lyrica wears off (which is about 3 hours, I take 75mg x 3 daily). I have not worked for over 3 years and am desperate to get better and return to work. I have tried B12 injections, vits and minerals, acupuncture (and even spiritual healing) - nothing helps.
Avatar f tn I've been on gabapentin for a few years to manage pain from multiple spinal fusions (I've have 5 total fusions and I am totally fused from C2 down to T2), chronic pain & fibromyalgia. It used to help with the pain and excruciating neuropathy from all the damaged nerves but like most meds it lost its effectiveness over time. It kept getting increased and for at least the last 6 months my dosage has been 800mg/3x a day.
1577364 tn?1296689784 I was diagnosed with fibro and degenerative arthritis 6 yrs ago. I also found out recently that I have obstructive sleep apnea, which only serves to complicate matters even further. I was on Lyrica, but have stopped taking it because of the weight gain. As of now, I am taking Klonopin and and benadryl at bedtime so I can sleep. I am going to ask my primary to help me get off the Klonopin because I just don't like being drug dependent.
Avatar n tn Here are some of the treatment options - Lyrica, Cymbalta, and Savella are the only three drugs approved by the U.S. FDA for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Lyrica is an antiseizure medication, while Cymbalta and Savella are antidepressants. All three have been known to reduce the pain of fibromyalgia significantly.
