lyrica

Avatar n tn I would also vomit often due to the intensity of my pain! Lyrica has been grat for me, But I think I need a higher dosage, I'm gonna talk with my doc next week about that. I can tell it's helping, just not quite enough & it won't last throughout the day until I take my other dosage.
1168718 tn?1464987135 Hi Candy I have been on lyrica for 4 yrs now gained about 20lbs but it has been a wonder drug for me no more neuropathy pain. the pain before was a 20 on the pain scale felt likea ice pick being jabbed into my legs over and over again.
Avatar f tn Has anyone been prescribed lyrica? I have, and have had great results with it for nerve pain in my right arm and hand. Opinions, please. My two other posts with more description vanished, so I will leave with this lol.
193953 tn?1272078626 I take Lyrica for fibromyalgia and arthritis, which helps, the side effect I hate is weight gain... I have been on it for 6 months and gained 30 pounds....
874521 tn?1424120397 I simply can't wait to be done with this Lyrica!!! Before the Lyrica I was on Cymbalta and only stayed in that for about a year and had to quit it bc it was making me feel bi-polar, my moods were all over the place and so much crying!! I was definately suicidal, and suffered from bad "zaps" like sticking your finger in a socket except it would zap and jerk me all over especially I'm my head/brain leading to migraines.

Avatar f tn I have never posted on this site but as I was reading about all of you taking Lyrica, I had to share my story of Lyrica with you. I have had fibro for 8 years and about two years ago was put on Lyrica. My Dr. started me on small doses and gave the counsel that this drug is great you can't overdose on it. My symptoms were so severe that I was eventually taking 1200 mg. a day prescribed by my Dr. Within 6 months I had gained 31 pounds and was most days like a walking zombie.
193953 tn?1272078626 I have been taking Lyrica for about six months now for the treatment of fibromyalgia which is a terrificly painful condition. Unfortunately I am also a drug addict. It began with my diagnosis and all the pain medication that was prescribed for me. I have never met a pain pill I didn`t like. It got to the point where I was ransacking every medicine cabinet that I came in contact with for labels that read "may cause drowsiness".
Avatar f tn My previous readings were alot lower. My doctor says I have fibromyalgia and has given me Lyrica and Betaloc as my blood pressure is quite high. He hasnt changed my thyroxine dosage which is strange if the results are alot different than normal. I had hyperthyroidism but was given radioactive iodine which made me under active.
1221838 tn?1266891448 Hello. I am new to this reaching out for support thing. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in January. I have been on tons of different meds and nothing seems to help. So now I am at my last resort so to speak. The only drug I haven't tried is "Lyrica". I took Cymbalta (30 mg) one time and I was so sick the next day the smell of food made me want to throw up.
Avatar f tn I am currently on Lyrica for nerve pain and possible Fibromyalgia. I took 75 mgs twice a day for a week and I am currently on 150 mgs twice a day now. Sometimes it makes me drowsy and sometimes it doesn't. My worst side effect with this medicine is the "really dry mouth". Between that, the 4 mgs of Dilaudid (x3) and the Allegra, it is about to do me in. This is my third week of taking it and it has not helped with anything so far. I wish you the best.
10704670 tn?1412132315 I've been taking Lyrica for fibromyalgia for several years, and have been taking a low dosage of just 75 mg. once nightly. For over a month, now, I've been having achy joints in wrists, elbows, and feet -- along with ache behind my eyes, nervousness, and worst of all, "flu-like" feelings going throughout the body. I usually wake in the morning feeling much better, but by late afternoon or evening, all these sick feelings set in.
Avatar n tn I have recently started taking 150 mg of Lyrica for nerve pain and Fibromyalgia. I can hardly believe it, but it is very helpful in relieving my nerve pain. The only problem is that my brain is effected by it. It has become very difficult to express myself verbally. I find myself searching for simple words. Is there something I can take along with Lyrica to help my foggy mind?
Avatar f tn So is my math right in that if I take 2 pills every 6 hours, 5200mg of Tylenol? He also prescribed me Lyrica 150mg but I am not getting any relief with that... I've had Vicodin 5-500 before, but prescribed by my Primary Care..seemed to work well other than having to take it so often + it also contained Tylenol. I am a bit frightened by the Darvocet, not to mention it is not as strong as Vicodin? I am only 25..I am not trying to kill my liver and kidneys.
Avatar f tn I have been on Lyrica for fibromyalgia for years now and dosage have been increasing ever since. It doesn't help me at all despite the increase in strength and now, with a concoction of pain candies and patches. The withdrawals and side effects are way worse so I al getting off them now.
Avatar f tn I want to know how to wean off of Lyrica, I have only been taking it for a couple of months but have severe leg cramps through the night and although I am only on 150 mgs a day it is making me feel like I am stoned most of the time. I also cannot afford the high cost and apparently no drug plan covers it and there is no generic brand to replace it. I have fibromyalgia and this drug barely touches the pain and with an increase in dosage the price just increases as well.
Avatar m tn I have been on Lyrica for years...starting at 75mg, not 150. For me, it's used for fibromyalgia (nerve pain). I have never heard of it being used for anxiety. That's a new one on me. My doctor just started me on Klonopin. I'm to take my first pill tonight. I have also used Hydrocodone (not steadily) for a number of years. I've used the Lyrica and Hydrocodone together with no real side effects...just drowsiness. Just wanted to see someone else's response to the Klonopin.
5333788 tn?1366572946 All I can say is that I was diagnosed with having fibromyalgia in October 2012. Started taking Lyrica at a very low dose 50mg 3x a day via my primary care physician. Within the 4 months that I've taken it, it has been increased to 400mg~200mg morning, 200mg bedtime. Began feeling "high" and wanted to get off of it. So, with the last doctor's with permission, was told that I could stop taking it. Been having crying spells a lot. Been off of it for 9 days.
394774 tn?1235074439 I was taking Lyrica which was increased to the highest dose because it was not working for my fibromyalgia. I had many of the side effects with the high dosage of lyrica including blurry vision so I weaned myself off of it and had about a months worth left if taken once a day. I have recently been prescribed the Cymbalta because I do have depression from being in pain all the time and not being able to do the things that I am used to doing.
Avatar f tn Sometimes, the pain goes away in my legs, but comes as soon as the lyrica wears off (which is about 3 hours, I take 75mg x 3 daily). I have not worked for over 3 years and am desperate to get better and return to work. I have tried B12 injections, vits and minerals, acupuncture (and even spiritual healing) - nothing helps.
1645454 tn?1301113400 what would the same dosage of Lyrica be? The doc just told me 100 mgs Lyrica 3X a day?
372680 tn?1228165210 I just saw my neurologist again and we're now trying Lyrica, typically prescribed for fibromyalgia. I've only been on it two days, with a much lower dosage (was taking 1200mg gabapentin/day versus 75mg Lyrica once at night!) and much much much better results (I only take one or two 300mg gapabentins a day). The only down side is that it makes me sleepy, but I'm sure that will wear off a bit or completely once I'm used to it.
462570 tn?1273636577 I am on Lyrica.. The side effects off the start weren't very much fun.. Extremely tired and very dizzy(light headed).. The side effects seem to come and go. Lyrica has helped me a bit so I figure take the good with the bad. My rheumatologist upped my dosage so I'm dealing with the wonderful effects again..I am also on Amitriptyline at bedtime.. It's too help me relax so I can sleep. I might as well be taking a flintstone vitamin because it doesn't work..
986593 tn?1283535811 It really doesn't matter what Lyrica was developed for. What matters is what it is prescribed for. Lyrica reminds me a lot of oxycontin in it's marketing. And it's all about the marketing. I'm not saying Lyrica is as addictive as oxycontin but we don't know the whole story about it yet. The history of oxycontin in Appalachia is a horror story. The FDA approves a drug which is then really tested on the general population.
Avatar f tn The Max approved dose for Fibromyalgia is 450 mg per day total. Having never used this or prescribed it, that's all I know.
559187 tn?1330786456 I have a question: Is Lyrica an antidepressant? The nice lady in the commercials for fibromyalgia on TV says that "Lyrica is not an antidepressant" but is it or isn't it? I know that it is an anti seizure drug and also that it can be used for neuropathic pain, but are doctors also using it for patients who they believe have depression. I thought I'd put this out to you guys to see what you all think or have experienced with this drug. Thanks a bunch!
Avatar f tn http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/Fibromyalgia/Important-Information-About-Lyrica/show/477?cid=39 Pain Relief Alternatives: http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/Fibromyalgia/Pain-Relief-/show/478?cid=39 I don't have fibro (at least not primary), but I do often have pain. I am one of the fortunate ones who can tolerate it.. except during times when I have migraines and/or bad back pain.
Avatar f tn The doctor just kept raising the dosage and things just got worse. While lyrica works for some it doesn't for others. I had more pain while taking than I do now and the fibro fog was just unbelievable. I couldn't handle that at all. Give it a while to get into your system and then if it still does not do you well then wean yourself off of it.
Avatar f tn I am worried about facing surgery and radiation therapy with Fibromyalgia. I pray that I don't have to go off Lyrica and deal with this too. I worked for a short period of time as a pharmaceutical detail rep in the late 80's. I know that pharmaceutical companies have to try to put everything on the package insert. But, taking Lyrica is the one big change in anything I am taking in the past year.
