Common Questions and Answers about Lump in neck near adam's apple

Avatar n tn I have a lump to the right of my adam's apple. What could this be?
Avatar n tn Just recently I have discovered a round lump under my adam's apple. Its in the center of my throat and almost looks like a second Adam's apple when I swallow. Im a 23 year old male (non-smoker and non-drinker). It doesnt hurt at all and the only reason I found is, I was rubbing my neck and felt a lump. It moves up and down when I swallow. If Im sitting relaxed it doesnt portrude my skin...but if I flex my muscles or make my neck tight it is a noticeable lump.
Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed with multiple Pulmonary Nodules in the past 8 months. How likely is it that this lump in my neck is related to the nodules in my lungs? Is this something I should be overly concerned about?
Avatar m tn I have a small lump(about the size of my adam's apple) in the front of my throat, underneath my adam's apple. I'm kind of worried as to what it may be. I've read online as to what it could be, but I have few if any symptoms as to what it may be. It doesnt hurt, I cant move it, and its not getting bigger or anything. Does anyone know what this could be. Thank you for any help.
Avatar f tn Hello. I've been struggling with some issues for over 3-4 months. To begin with, I have several swellings near and above my adam's apple. One of them is very hard and pea sized. It is located 1 cm right to the adam's apple. I think it's on my thryoid or something but I'm not sure. It goes up and down a little bit when I swallow. The other one is above the apple and a little bit softer than the other. Another thing is, I have whiteness all over my mouth.
1118074 tn?1259020626 I have a cyst or nodule on my neck in front on adam's apple. It does move up and down when I swallow and I get choked on food easily. I have no history of Thyroid problems, it feels like there is something in my throat it is about 8mm. I am scheduled for ultrasound and swallow evaluation in next couple of days, any thing to relieve the stress I am feeling now would be grateful.
Avatar n tn Just a simple question - Do thyroid change with age in terms of their size, shape or feel? I'm a 35-year-old female with small features and normal weight, leaning towards the thinner side of normal. Should I be able to prominently feel my entire thyroid? My thyroid is extremely firm and prominent - this was not the case in years past, but now it feels extremely firm -hard as a rock, I must say, and if I tilt my head just slightly back I can see it.
Avatar f tn Where exactly is it? The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland located at the base of your neck below the Adam's apple. You should probably ask your doctor about it.
Avatar f tn Hi - I'm a 34 year old healthy female. I have had the feeling of a lump in my throat for 3 weeks now that seems to be getting worse. It is worse at night than it is in the morning - in fact, in the morning it's not even there. I had my thyroid checked and it came back mostly OK (there is a nodule they want to follow up on in a year). I go to the doctor next Wednesday to follow up because the lump I feel is still there. It seems worse when I turn my head to the right.
Avatar m tn I am 59 and for the past month I have been having these pains in the SIDES of my throat. It's hard to explain. I have Barrett's Esophagus and GERDS and take 40mg of Nexium a day. But the pain isn't in my throat its on the sides of my neck near my Adam's apple. I can take my thumb and fore finger and it feels like something is cracking. At first I thought that it might be my thyroid, but all my blood work was normal. I don't have any symptoms of thyroid problems either.
Avatar m tn Hi I'm 16, and I've noticed a lump on my neck that has been slowly growing. I've had this for about 6 months or so and today I noticed that when I raised my head the lump was visible through the skin. My parents kept on telling me that it was probably just a swollen gland but it's grown and now it's visible. I don't think thats normal. It's above my adam's apple and on the left side of my neck. It's also the size of a large marble.
448891 tn?1205917388 no idea, I'm having the same... This is a reply I got: by 898, Mar 19, 2008 08:17AM The AACE recommends to do the thyroid neck check in this case: Hold the mirror so that you can see the area of your neck just below the Adam's apple and right above the collarbone. This is the general location of your thyroid gland. Tip your head back, while keeping this view of your neck and thyroid area in your mirror. Take a drink of water and swallow. As you swallow, look at your neck.
Avatar n tn This may be a ganglion or soft benign cyst ..... I have copied something on research .. A lipoma, a smooth, rubbery, dome-shaped lump that is easily movable under the skin. A cyst, a sac of fluid and debris that sometimes hurts. Cystic lesions from acne are large pimples that occur deep under the skin. Branchial cleft cysts are found in the neck and do not usually cause problems unless they become infected. These cysts are most common in teenagers.
368646 tn?1208393887 I believe scar tissue has attached to a major artery which is now causing major difficulties. (This area is near the "Adam's Apple"/neck region.) Is there any imaging I can request to show this (since scar tissue is usually avoided for imaging purposes)? Thank you!!
Avatar m tn He adjusted my neck and back and ribs and sent me on my way. My neck feels good/normal in the morning, but as the day goes on, the pressure comes back... around my adam's apple usually. At night I take a couple of tylenol PM and I sleep through the night just fine. I am concerned with throat cancer, as I smoked for so many years. What is your opinion?
Avatar f tn I apologize if I have put this in the wrong section. I am unsure what to call it due to the doctors not having a name for it. For over a year now, my 10 year old daughter will get strep or a throat virus and a couple of days later as it is clearing up she develops a large lump right on top of where her adam's apple is. It ranges in size from grape size to golf ball size. She has been looked at by her pediatrician as well as an ENT with Children's Hospital.
Avatar f tn As long as I can remember if I move my neck just right or cough the center or my neck, approximately near the "Adam's apple" area feels like it moves and I can't breathe, and it don't fix itself I have to move whatever it is back into place, it's painful and very scary please help. I've talked with my primary care physician and she has no idea what/why it would do that.
Avatar m tn Hello, Lymph nodes swell in one location due to any injury, infection, or tumor developing in or near the lymph node. Which lymph nodes are swollen can help identify the problem. Glands on either side of the neck, under the jaw, or behind the ears are swollen in cold or sore throat. Glands can also swell following an injury, such as a cut or bite, near the gland or when a tumor or infection occurs in the mouth, head, or neck.
Avatar n tn Is this lump located in the middle of the neck or slightly to the rigt side of the midline?
Avatar n tn Give yourself a simple Thyroid Neck Check to see if your symptoms are thyroid: Hold a mirror in front of the area of the neck where the thyroid gland is located. This area is just below the Adam's apple and right above the collarbone. (Note: The Adam's apple is not the thyroid location.) Tip the head back. Take a drink of water and swallow, watching the neck during the process. Check for any bulging or protrusions or up and down movments.
Avatar m tn A week ago, I started noticing that my adam's apple is growing. I'm a teen. While I was pressing on it, I felt under it something like another small adam's apple. I ve seen other guys with it, which didn't worry me that much. But as I was checking my neck I felt something vertical above adam's apple by less half an inch is moving along with it. Also that thing under the lyrnex moves. The three moves when I swallow. What it could be? I'm 17.
Avatar n tn I am a 24 year old male with no known health conditions. I have a small and round bump about an inch to the left and slightly over the adam's apple, just under the skin. It didn't develop slowly but rather just appeared. It is not painful unless I press on it, but it is noticeable. About a day after I noticed it, I feel a "sore throat" like feeling when I swallow but it is confined to that small area.
210459 tn?1197082192 I have a similar problem as the original poster. Just recently I have discovered a round lump under my adam's apple.
