Common Questions and Answers about Lumigan before after

lumigan

Avatar f tn My husband has been started on Lumigan 0.03% after being diagnosed with pressure in his eyes. Although it is only the right eye that has been diagnosed as have Glaucoma in. Do the different strengths indicated how severe the condition is? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Hi there, I was on Lumigan for several years and developed those darkened eyes that you call panda-esque (I call them "RACCOON EYES"). After I stopped Lumigan, the dark patches gradually faded. Apparently Lumigan "stains" the skin tissues, but when you discontinue the eyedrop, the darkened areas fade. You might want to check with your own doctor to see what he or she can suggest. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Azopt is a great medicine but sometimes expensive. Lumigan I really dislike because it causes red, inflammed, irritated eye, permanent dark circles around the eyelids and orbital fat atrophy with sunken in eyes and droopy lids way too often. Travatan-A is much better, longer acting, lowers IOP more and doesn't cause near the side effects of Lumigan.
Avatar m tn If you had side effects on BB before you likely would again. So if lumigan once/day is working well why try something new that likely will not work as well.
Avatar m tn Lumigan and latisse are the same chemical (bimatoprost). Latisse is suppose to be brushed into the lashes rather than put directly on the eye. All the medications in this group of glacoma medications stimulate eyelash growth: latanoprost (Xalatan brand name), Travatan-Z, Lumigan and Zioptan.
Avatar m tn Azopt rare makes eyes red, lumigan is a failrly common cause of chronic red eyes. You might discuss stopping the lumigan for a week or two to see if that helps. If it does Travatan-Z is gentler on the eye and often better at lower IOP, also there is a new preservative free prostaglandin glaucoma eyedrop Zioptrin which might be helpful. I have a very large glaucoma practice and when patients have chronic red eyes and they are on alphagan P or Lumigan I suspect them as the cause first thing.
Avatar f tn hi am a trich sufferer. can i use normal lumigan eyedrops on my eyebrows, scalp and eyelashes? i dont have access to latisse.or is there any other medication that grows hair fast? can i use folligen? what are the adverse effects of using lumigan on eyes and eyebrows?
Avatar m tn I have taken Lumigan for open Angle Glaucoma for a couple of years in one eye only. In April the ophthalmologist asked me to put them in both eyes. I have no problems with that and my IOP is well controlled. However, I noticed my PVC's have gone up considerably since taken the drops. At first with only one eye I had about 15,000 per day, now with drops in both eyes they have gone up to almost 30,000 per day. There where no other medication changes during that time.
12845664 tn?1427483649 I am using Lumigan (bimatoprost) 0.01% nightly. Cost under my Medicare coverage is pretty high (deductible plus copay). Bimatoprost 0.03% is now available as a generic. What potential problems am I inviting by asking my ophthalmologist to switch prescriptions and start using the 0.03%?
Avatar n tn However, last visit hemorrhage on optic nerve found and added Alpgagan P to Lumigan, did not do a thing after 6 weeks, pressure 24 today. Dr. Stated Alphagan P was the best he could do with MEDS, and it did not do a thing so wants to do SLT which he says may not work or can make pressure worse. So if SLT does not work are my only options more riskier surgeries! Visual field gave been perfect for last 8 years, do not know if this hemorrhage has caused defects as yet!
Avatar n tn I took them till December of 2017. My doctor changed me to lumigan, after I told him about the problems I was having with alphagan. since I started the lumigan in January the floaters have only increased in number and size, on top of that a horrible vision altering Haze. I just thought all glaucoma drops hurt your vision but not taking them was worse?
Avatar m tn regarding Lumigan and others like it, have people experienced growth of eyebrows and hair elsewhere as well like scalp hair? or is there good understanding of the active ingredients, that they can also help brows and scalp hair too? I am not only thinning fair eyelashes, but also fair hair and eyebrows and in my 40s with only slight graying. so has lumigan been studied long enough to know if fair skinned/hair people get similar darkening and lenghtening benefits?
Avatar n tn She said my IOP was not that high, but it was the fact it was in concert with very low BP that was concerning.
Avatar f tn org The glaucoma drops Xalatan, Lumigan and Travitan Z grown eyelashes in about 70% of the people that use them. The FDA has just approved a formulation of lumigan called Latisse for use to grow eyelashes.
Avatar m tn My eye surgeon had told me that typically after cataract surgery IOP is lower about 4 points. However its now 4 months after I had cataract surgery on my right eye and the IOP result in my last few eye doctor visits over the last couple months have remained close to what it was prior to the surgery. I still am taking the same two eye drop medications in my right eye as I have for the past 3 years: Lumigan and Dorzolamide-Timilol (combo drop).
Avatar m tn I came out of the surgery with increased eye pressure (2 weeks after surgery) and was prescribed drops (lumigan) , but when I was examined 3 weeks later the pressure was normal so I was told to stop the drops. When I mentioned the darker area, he said it was probably the retina adjusting to the surgery. At that time I did not have the lines, but would lee something like water drops moving down a window.
Avatar m tn ll do surgery and put a filter to drain out the fluid it will take around 2-3 hrs for operation. She is also having issues eating any food in evening mostly after 6pm and she mostly have constipation. She immediately vomit out anything solid she eat in the evening. Waiting for an early reply.

Avatar n tn Developed Glaucoma after my cataract operation in 2009. Under control with daily usage of Travatan eye drops. Hear that new drops available for a once a week usage.
Avatar n tn In addition, I was diagnosed with glaucoma a year ago, maintained at 15/16 with 1 drop Lumigan each night, no problem using eyedrops and cost is mostly covered by my insurance. But now the Dr. is wanting to do something called ECP during cataract surgery since I'm "young" (67!) and glaucoma is "mild." Sould I even consider this if I'm not having a problem?
Avatar m tn I thought he had pressure under control with Lumigan, and he even stopped that in the left eye months ago, then restarted after the visual field test showed deteriration.
274009 tn?1224434467 ve had 4 eye surgeries for detatched retina (left eye) plus at the time of my last eye surgery I had a catarac removed. I now have Glaucoma as a result of all this. After my last eye surgery I was told that I'll never have full use of my eye plus I still have a partial detatchment that's been stable now for 10 months. I still have oil in my eye. I'm using 3 types of eyedrops daily for eye pressure Azopt 2x day Combigan 2x day Xalatan 1x at night (makes my eyelashes longer?
Avatar n tn One of the drops in this family of glaucoma medicines (Lumigan) is sold in a different form (Latisse) by plastic surgeons and dermatologists for eye lash growth.
Avatar f tn is there any other test besides that which indicates vision loss?i take lumigan once a night. for the past three years or so. I have only missed three times and let me tell youi remember those times how nice my eyes felt without the drops. no scratchy feeling, no tearing and especially very little red in my eyes. i almost felt that i looked normal. no one looking at my bloodshot eyes and commenting.
757137 tn?1347196453 It won't harm the eye or vision but side effects include redness and irritation on the eye and dark pigmentation around the edge of the lids. Plus the stuff is extremely expensive expect to pay about $120 per bottle. If you stop the meds they stop growning It works on most people, we've used it for years as lumigan for glaucoma. as with any medicine it doesn't work on everyone.
Avatar f tn My husband was diagnosed with glaucoma - don't know which 'type'...he's 75...as of tonite he's going to be using Lumigan, 1 drop nightly and tomorrow the ophalmologist will run required tests. We've known this physician for years and have complete trust in him.
