I have taken Lumigan for open Angle Glaucoma for a couple of years in one eye only. In April the ophthalmologist asked me to put them in both eyes. I have no problems with that and my IOP is well controlled. However, I noticed my PVC's have gone up considerably since taken the drops. At first with only one eye I had about 15,000 per day, now with drops in both eyes they have gone up to almost 30,000 per day. There where no other medication changes during that time.
Azopt is a great medicine but sometimes expensive. Lumigan I really dislike because it causes red, inflammed, irritated eye, permanent dark circles around the eyelids and orbital fat atrophy with sunken in eyes and droopy lids way too often. Travatan-A is much better, longer acting, lowers IOP more and doesn't cause near the side effects of Lumigan.
(I really need to re-quiz her on that) It is a shame, as it dramatically lowered my IOP - better than the Lumigan and Azopt I am on as well.
I see from a more extensive web search that it is used very successfully after LASIK. as you mention, to improve halos and other aberrations in night driving, as it minimizes pupil dilation. Unfortunately for me, that same effect was not helpful, as I already have problems seeing in lower light, and the smaller pupil response wasn't a plus.
So I was taken off of the glaucoma medication alphagan because it was not working well and caused severe dry eye and floaters and then I was put on and am currently on lumigan 0.01% that helps the pressure but makes the dry eye and floaters still a problem.
For the uveitis I am on pred Forte 0.01% and has caused a slight cataracts.
For my dry eye syndrome, I am allergic to most of the things prescribed to me so I take preservative-free over the counter refresh tears four to six times a day.
ve read of people reacting to the generic (red, stinging eyes, darkening around the eyes), but being fine with the brand name. Also, is it worth requesting the preservative-free version, Zioptan? I want to minimise side effects.
Lumigan and latisse are the same chemical (bimatoprost). Latisse is suppose to be brushed into the lashes rather than put directly on the eye.
All the medications in this group of glacoma medications stimulate eyelash growth: latanoprost (Xalatan brand name), Travatan-Z, Lumigan and Zioptan.
My eye surgeon had told me that typically after cataract surgery IOP is lower about 4 points.
However its now 4 months after I had cataract surgery on my right eye and the IOP result in my last few eye doctor visits over the last couple months have remained close to what it was prior to the surgery.
I still am taking the same two eye drop medications in my right eye as I have for the past 3 years: Lumigan and Dorzolamide-Timilol (combo drop).

I have pseudo-exfoliation in left eye. Started out on xalatan, then switched over to Lumigan when I was Glaucoma Suspect with ocular pressure 21-30. regarding Lumigan and others like it, have people experienced growth of eyebrows and hair elsewhere as well like scalp hair? or is there good understanding of the active ingredients,that they can also help brows and scalp hair too?
I am not only thinning fair eyelashes, but also fair hair and eyebrows and in my 40s with only slight graying. so has lumigan been studied long enough to know if fair skinned/hair people get similar darkening and lenghtening benefits?
The overwhelming problem with the medicine Zioptan is the cost. It is preservative free equivalent of latanoprost. Almost no one is allergic to latanoprost. moreover since the dose is one drop per eye per day very few people have any problem with allergy. So I use very little zioptan in my practice due to cost problems.

The glaucoma drops Xalatan, Lumigan and Travitan Z grown eyelashes in about 70% of the people that use them. The FDA has just approved a formulation of lumigan called Latisse for use to grow eyelashes.
I have tried many preservative containing drops however they seem to cause a bad reaction. Would Hycosan preservative free drops be worth a try or do you have any other suggestions of drops i could try. They would have to be preservative free not vials and be a liquid not a gel.
When I had the cataract in my other eye removed last year I was prescribed Lumigan drops (along with other drops) after surgery. I have green eyes and everything I read worried me about my eye changing color which fortunately didn't happen. I am scheduled to have the other eye done next month and after researching it appears the Timolol could be used instead and I would not have to be worried about eye color.
Hi the eye drops l take for Glaucoma ( Azarga) have the preservative Benzalkonium Chloride 0.1 mg/ml in them, what if any are the side effect of this preservative and is it just an irritant or could over 5 years of daily use actually do harm to the eye or make eye pressure worse?
Is there an overuse issue? I have been using only preservative free drops but every hour 2 to 3 drops per eye.
What you may be referring to is people with very very mild glaucoma and very little money that are on expensive drops like Lumigan and Travatan Z in some cases with very careful monitoring may be able to use the drops once every two or three days. I think it not a good idea and don't do it in my practice. If there's a money problem I recommend selective laser trabeculoplasty.
She said not to use more than 4-5 preservative drops a day, After that, switch to preservative free. Said it was fine to mix them (or alternate them) or just use preservative free drops if I am having a bad dry eye day. I use optive for both.
So I usually purchase Clear Eyes preservative free lubricating drops for dry eyes. This comes in a single bottle that has a filter on it that supposed to keep it free from contaminants. I go through one of these bottles in a month. I ran out last week and the store was currently out of stock. I went ahead and tried the Genteal Tears preservative free drops that come in individual vials (36 in the box). The instructions say one time use and then discard.

Doubtful you are allergic to systane (disapearing preservative or preservative free varieties) or refresh pm (preservative free.) Believe it or not sometimes the contact lens can make certain corneal problems actually "feel" better while they continue to get worse - the lens can act like a bandage over corneal irritations or scratches - while making eye very susceptible to infections or keratitis.
is there any other test besides that which indicates vision loss?i take lumigan once a night. for the past three years or so. It varies depending on the surgeon and how severe the glaucoma is and what other glaucoma medications the person is on. Some surgeons stop latanoprost and other similiar drugs Lumigan and Travatan Z others don't.
