Avatar m tn She said I had the bacterial type of pink eye and gave me a prescription for Tobramycin. I used it for seven days and had about 50% improvement, but the infectipon was still present. I went back yesterday and she put me on three days of prednisone --6 pill therapy and a new prescrition for Tobramycin for six more days. If this doesn't work--what are my options? I have read that Tobramycin can cause kidney damage. Are their other drugs to use?

Avatar f tn He checked my vision again and for any damage to the cornea and gave me 5 days of tobramycin with loteprednol etabonate 0.5%. I used it for the 5 days. My eye looked a lot less red toward the last day. Then I stopped using it as directed. Now after 4 days my eye has steadily gotten more red again. It seems to drain or be runny at night and is not painful or itchy. The other eye is fine.
1580703 tn?1651904887 my friend got hit in the eye and began to see black spots even after using tobramycin for a few days does this mean it could be retinal detachment and should see a doctor or go to the ER? http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar m tn Lotemax is the brand name of the drug loteprednol. It is a steroid anti-inflammatory like Pred Forte and likely is to be used in place of Pred Forte (or the other way around). You would need to ask your doctor to be sure. "Lotepred" on the label must refer to the generic name of loteprenol. The brand name of Ketorolac, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, is Acular. So, nothing you have replaces the Ketorolac. Sorry. Maybe your doctor could give you a sample. P.S.
Avatar f tn Sure, you can subsititute another antibiotic (if you can tolerate these drops) such as Tobramycin or Polytrim. For about one patient a week, I have to substitute Tobramycin for my usual floroquinolone Zymar, because the patient has a allergic history. Talk to your surgeon. There should be no problem making the switch here if needed.

He R/x Timolol Maleate and Tobramycin Dexamethasone along with Minocycline which caused extreme abdominal pain, diarrhea within days of beginning the regiment. Avatar f tn Does Tobramycin and Dexamethasone Ophthalmic Suspension USP, 0.3%/0.1% (sterile) treat Corneal Ulcer?
Avatar f tn I have pseudo in my lungs as well due to atypical CF (cystic fibrosis). You might want to ask your doc about TOBI (tobramycin) that is nebulized twice a day for a course of 28 days on a month on, month off basis. It is very effective in keeping my colonies under control. Another thing to consider is Cipro orally, I can't take it but many with pseudo report good effects from that antibiotic as well. The accepella is a good thing for you to do, it helps move the mucous around.
Avatar m tn He diagnosed the same Cornea Ulcer (non infectious) but told that I need to use Tobramycin drops. In addition i do Baby shampoo cleaning eyelids and warm compresses daily. All this is chronic and related to inflammation of eye. The ulcer went away in few days and doctor said there is possibility of return. I need to continue daily compresses but can discontinue the drops. Also my vision became very blurry. He told me that my left eye is the strong and its normal.
Avatar m tn t look like herpes but she said my eye was a bit red so she prescribed tobramycin 2 drops 4 times a day for 7 days. My eye is only a little red though and I think it is always a little red. My mom says not to use the drops because my she says my eye does not look red and not to complicate things by adding drops. Should I use the drops, and if I do do I have to use them for 7 days or just until the eye stops being red? Thanks!
Avatar m tn I take a number of nebulised solutions each day including Tobramycin, Ventolin and NebuSal nebules. I read that even small amounts of liquid in the lungs can cause Secondary drowning that is apart from all the sodium I am ingesting. Does anyone know how much fluid you can safely take into your lungs and conversely what amounts might be dangerous.

Avatar f tn TWO different eye doctors refused to admin that the Tobramycin caused the blurry vision, and tearing, and swollen eyelids over and under my eyes. I looked like a monster. This happened 3 years ago - same medicine - same reaction - now I know it's the tobramycin. The doctors blamed it on my makeup or eye cream and on seasonal allergies - which I'm not experiencing. That's not it. It's the Tobramycin and I'm really upset and concerned that I have permanent vision loss.
Avatar f tn In checking with my health insurance plan, I see that each prescription will cost me $75 to fill. I saw in a previous question that Tobramycin might be substituted for Vigamox (which is MUCH cheaper). Can you suggest a cheaper substitute for Nevanac? I had asked the nurse for more samples, but she refused saying they wouldn't have enough for the other patients. Thanks!
Avatar m tn In some people and some conditions they would work as substitutes but for many conditions like blepharitis Azacyte is better than tobramycin for the condition. You should ask your Eye MD these questions.
Avatar m tn You should see an ophthalmologist tomorrow morning. You are on some very potent medications. Zymar and tobramycin and deoxycyline are antibiotics. Pred forte is a very strong steroid.
Avatar f tn I was unable to get in to see my eye MD so i went to a clinic doctor on Monday. She prescribed tobramycin drops and diagnosed it as a stye. Hasn't helped at all. Neither has applyIing warm compresses. have read that styes can last many days. My eye is more swollen, red, and painful than ever. The redness is extending out past my eye towards my temple. The underneath of my eye is also swollen now but not red. There is no formed bump on the top of my eyelid.
Avatar m tn I have had a pressure reading of 35 the wek after surgery. it was 22 last week. Dr. is hoping the steroid drop Homatropine & cutting down the antibiotoc drop Tobramycin will bring it down even more. I have had previous cataract surgeries in my late 40's then Retinal detachments ....[I have a wonderful Retina specialist at Baptist Eye Center, Little Rock, Ark].
