Avatar f tn He checked my vision again and for any damage to the cornea and gave me 5 days of tobramycin with loteprednol etabonate 0.5%. I used it for the 5 days. My eye looked a lot less red toward the last day. Then I stopped using it as directed. Now after 4 days my eye has steadily gotten more red again. It seems to drain or be runny at night and is not painful or itchy. The other eye is fine.

Avatar n tn d Alrex (loteprednol etabonate ophthalmic suspension 0.2%) QID. Eyes less itchy but far vision still much worse/blurry than before exam and headaches whenever I try to wear the glasses. I go back for another exam on Saturday but am concerned about long term effects. Would you recommend seeing an ophthalmologist rather than continued exams with optometrist? Any Ddx ideas other than allergic reaction? Thank you in advance.
Avatar m tn She said I had the bacterial type of pink eye and gave me a prescription for Tobramycin. I used it for seven days and had about 50% improvement, but the infectipon was still present. I went back yesterday and she put me on three days of prednisone --6 pill therapy and a new prescrition for Tobramycin for six more days. If this doesn't work--what are my options? I have read that Tobramycin can cause kidney damage. Are their other drugs to use?

1580703 tn?1651904887 No meds will help the black dots and surgery is far too risky to consider. Use the search feature and archives and read about "floaters". With time they usually either settle out of sight or the brains ignores them and they are ignored.
Avatar m tn Lotemax is the brand name of the drug loteprednol. It is a steroid anti-inflammatory like Pred Forte and likely is to be used in place of Pred Forte (or the other way around). You would need to ask your doctor to be sure. "Lotepred" on the label must refer to the generic name of loteprenol. The brand name of Ketorolac, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, is Acular. So, nothing you have replaces the Ketorolac. Sorry. Maybe your doctor could give you a sample. P.S.
Avatar f tn He noticed slight inflammation under the lid and prescribed tobramycin for two weeks. When I returned for a follow up, he stated that the inflammation had cleared up. He told me to stop taking the tobramycin and use systane drops three times a day and come back in a year. He also suggested I cut back on coffee (my ONE cup a day??) and reduce stress in my life. Ha!
Avatar n tn I have just researched the Tobramycin and Timolol and find that they are not to be taken in combination if high pressure or glaucoma is possible. The pharmacist questioned the scripts and asked me if I have glaucoma and I told him I do not. I now am wondering if the CT scan is necessary or a waste of time. The Dr. is supposedly a well known medical professional with Atlanta Ophtalmology Associates.
Avatar m tn Dear Dr Sandra There was no diagnoses explained to me ,except my eyes were checked and told that there was symptom of inflamation in my left eye followed by Tobramycin prescription and then things started getting worse. As of noon today ,I stopped my last prescription the ZYMAR drops and DOXYCYCL antibitocs pills until my next appointment with my doctor on Thursday. I have no pain or itching beside the inflamation of my eyebrows and below my eyes still remaining.
Avatar f tn Does Tobramycin and Dexamethasone Ophthalmic Suspension USP, 0.3%/0.1% (sterile) treat Corneal Ulcer?
Avatar f tn The nebulized form is a much higher dose given twice a day and is directed to the lungs mostly. The system does absorb some of it, but not like IV tobramycin so it is much safer to blast the lungs with such high doses. Ultimately, the amount of tobramycin is so much that it overcomes the MIC (minimum inhibatory concentration or lowest amount of antibiotic needed to be effective) and works despite it being resistant. Does this make sense? I hope so...
Avatar m tn He diagnosed the same Cornea Ulcer (non infectious) but told that I need to use Tobramycin drops. In addition i do Baby shampoo cleaning eyelids and warm compresses daily. All this is chronic and related to inflammation of eye. The ulcer went away in few days and doctor said there is possibility of return. I need to continue daily compresses but can discontinue the drops. Also my vision became very blurry. He told me that my left eye is the strong and its normal.
Avatar m tn My mom says not to use the drops because my she says my eye does not look red and not to complicate things by adding drops. Should I use the drops, and if I do do I have to use them for 7 days or just until the eye stops being red? Thanks!
Avatar m tn I take a number of nebulised solutions each day including Tobramycin, Ventolin and NebuSal nebules. I read that even small amounts of liquid in the lungs can cause Secondary drowning that is apart from all the sodium I am ingesting. Does anyone know how much fluid you can safely take into your lungs and conversely what amounts might be dangerous.
Avatar n tn i took care of an elderly male patient on admission his main complain was his legs and his left eye had minimal whitish discharge and by the 3rd day his eyeball was reddish and he seemed like he was crying beacause he usually had tears on his eye corners he was seen by an opthalmologist and was treated tobramycin eye drops and cyclogel however after a week when i saw him again his eyes was slowly melting, he had corneal abrasion and vitreous hemorrhage, and after 3 days his eyes was totally

Avatar f tn TWO different eye doctors refused to admin that the Tobramycin caused the blurry vision, and tearing, and swollen eyelids over and under my eyes. I looked like a monster. This happened 3 years ago - same medicine - same reaction - now I know it's the tobramycin. The doctors blamed it on my makeup or eye cream and on seasonal allergies - which I'm not experiencing. That's not it. It's the Tobramycin and I'm really upset and concerned that I have permanent vision loss.
Avatar f tn However you should not need to use it for days and days. At our center we pre-treat for 1 day and then treat afterwards for 3 - 4 days, basically however long the bottle lasts. Certainly you are within your rights to request another sample bottle of Vigamox since you are having both eyes done.
Avatar m tn You should see an ophthalmologist tomorrow morning. You are on some very potent medications. Zymar and tobramycin and deoxycyline are antibiotics. Pred forte is a very strong steroid.
Avatar m tn both are combinations of steroids and antibiotics. In some people and some conditions they would work as substitutes but for many conditions like blepharitis Azacyte is better than tobramycin for the condition. You should ask your Eye MD these questions.
