Avatar f tn Hello, I've just come back from my P.E. lesson and I experienced severe dizziness and chest pain. I exercise (training) 3 times a week, go running regularly and used to do athletics 12 hours a week, but have experienced that faint feeling and chest pain (it feels like my chest cramps up) whenever I exercise more severely in the last 2 weeks. I'm a sixteen year old female, have a BMI of 18.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with high blood pressure in 2006 and is taking 50 mg of losartan every day to control the BP. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's in 2014.
Avatar n tn Newcastle University researchers analysed a small clinical trial of losartan, a drug normally prescribed for hypertension, on 14 patients in Spain, who had Hepatitis C. The illness was at an advanced stage causing fibrosis - scarring in the liver - which would usually have progressed to liver failure. Half of the patients in the trial saw the scars in their liver shrink allowing the organ to repair itself.
Avatar m tn I have been experiencing a low heart rate for as long as I can remember recording it. It falls in the lines of 40s-60s resting usually below 60's. i have been experiencing frequent heart palpitations(skipping beats) when in resting and working out sometime. Should I be concerned? Will I have to have a pacemaker? I do get dizzy sometimes, I also have hypertension my Bp runs in the 140's consistently, diastolic usually normal 70-80 usually.
Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
Avatar m tn I'm 22 just diagnosed with hypertension. My cardiologist prescribed me losartan today I was wondering if this is a good recommended Bp medicine mine runs typically 150-160/90-95. Thanks, hope I can get some input!
2191752 tn?1338280689 I'm on hypertension meds too. One side effect is dehydration therefore making sure you maintain a good intake of water is important and you won't get that cough or least, cough less. Make sure you speak to your Dr.
2009161 tn?1327915695 I was worried so went to a doctor, the doctor checked my BP was 170/100, which was high as per the doctor, since then I am having LOSARTAN POTASIUM tablets of 50 mg every day prescribed by him, but still at times my BP in the evenings when I check is 150/100. Do I need to increase my dossage or continue with some physical excercises to reduce my BP, when ever I did some meditation for 10 mins, I checked with my electronic BP monitor it reduces compared to previous reading though.
Avatar n tn Losartan - potassium (Cozarr) is used to control hypertension and might be a better fit for your daughters condition as the side effects are similar. I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Hi there. First timer with a question about Losaran for hypertension. My BP runs about 140/90 without medication. I am not overweight (BMI of 22, age 57). My GP put me on Lisinopril last year but switched me to Losartan after the Lisinopril failed to help. The Losartan brought my BP down a lot with a 50 mg daily dose. I was down to 110/70 and even 100/65 at times. I even got light-headed when I stood up quickly. The GP said this was normal and good. He likes my BP to be well below 120/80.
Avatar m tn An angioplasty will not prevent hypertension, and hypertension can be an underlying cause for vessel occlusion and hardening of the arteries requiring angioplasty. High blood pressure requires treatment and needs to be controlled. Sometimes medication can be stopped as some high blood pressure is the result of the individual's lifestyle, diet, lack of appropriate exercise, smoking, alcohol, etc.
Avatar f tn Ugh, I hate a lingering cough. Couple of things come to mind. First, coughs can last a long time. Once the airway and bronchial tubes get irritated, they take a while to get better. So the least little thing will cause a coughing jag (exertion, changing position to lay down, etc.). It can happen that it takes 2 months to get over a cough because of this. But there are other things to consider. You can get a type of asthma related to having been sick and this airway irritation.
Avatar n tn My electrophysiologist recently put me on a beta blocker (Metoprolol) 25 mg twice a day for hypertension and a ton of other symptoms he said must be due to Neurocardiogenic Syncope. I was diagnosed with asthma a couple years ago and it seems as if the beta blocker is causing shortness of breath and a feeling that seems similar to how I feel after exercising, a sort of chest tightness I would say. Is this common for beta blockers to do to people with asthma?

I've been diagnosed with hypertension and was put on losartan 50mg/hctz 12.5mg by my cardiologist when my blood pressure was running about 150-160/80-90 consistantly about 2 months ago.
973741 tn?1342342773 I have been taking Lisinopril for decades and switched to Losartan in July. Personally I would take a controlled reading of around 130/80 for me as acceptable.

Avatar f tn Just wanted to know if losartan(Cozaar) is the best option for an alcoholic with gout and high blood pressure? Of course, the best scenario would be to completely delete alcohol out of the equation, but it is not an option at this time for the person involved.
