16467414 tn?1448304929 The doctor put on Losartan Potassium 50 mg. Since then I have been feeling nauseated and slightly dizzy. Are these symptoms normal with this medication? Any help will be appreciated.
Avatar n tn I cannot remember if I took my Losartan today or not - 100 mg. should I take it?
Avatar m tn I was on losartan for a few months. I don't think that my bp was consistenlty high. I think what was going on was that it was very up and down and it was making me feel pretty bad. But losartan which is a third line for bp was the first thing that they put me on. And I don't think my bp was that bad. I have had elevated renin/aldosterone studies and low potassium in the past.
Avatar n tn what blood pressure medication and depression medication would not be metabolized through the liver.
Avatar f tn I was put on BP medication in January 2012. I started off with Amlodipine and Lisinopril and the Lisinopril darned near killed me. The prescribing doctor WOULD NOT take me off it so I just stopped taking it and made an appointment with another doctor. I have been taking 12.5 mg of Metoprolol and 10 mg Amlodipine for about 3 months. I have COPD and something was aggravating my breathing problems. I went to the doctor yesterday and he took me off the Metoprolol and put me on 100 mg of Losartan.
Avatar m tn My GP put me on Lisinopril last year but switched me to Losartan after the Lisinopril failed to help. The Losartan brought my BP down a lot with a 50 mg daily dose. I was down to 110/70 and even 100/65 at times. I even got light-headed when I stood up quickly. The GP said this was normal and good. He likes my BP to be well below 120/80. So far so good. I was getting the Losartan from Walgreens as a 30 day supply.
Avatar f tn Losartan is not a beta blocker. Instead it is an ARB. By blocking the action of angiotensin, losartan relaxes muscle cells and dilates blood vessels, reducing blood pressure. It can cause nasal congestion and persistent cough, Since you have both the cough and leg swelling, you should ask to try another bp medication. There are other types.
Avatar m tn So, avoiding beta blockers is a plus with your pulse rate, and the losartan your doctor picked is in a different class of blood pressure lowering medication. How's it working out so far? Do you drink caffeine, eat a lot of chocolate, smoke, take pseudophedrine for allergies, have a lot of stress in your life?
Avatar n tn Hi. I take boyh losartan 100 AND norvask 5 for HBP. For next month only, i will be able to buy only one of them. Which should I buy?
Avatar f tn After a month of anti-tb medications, my cough still persists, my doctor then prescribed diflucan 150 thinking that I might have a fungal infection aside from tb. i just had 2 caps of diflucan but I now suspect that losartan is the culprit since I am taking it for more than a year now. I came across its adverse effect as I searched for the answer of my persistent cough. Is my suspicion right?
Avatar n tn I don't know much about heart disease or high blood pressure but let me tell you a couple things I know about this medication. Lisinopril is used to control high blood pressure and water retention. Too strong of a dosage can cause diarrhea which can cause potassium to drop low. Losartan - potassium (Cozarr) is used to control hypertension and might be a better fit for your daughters condition as the side effects are similar. I hope this helps.
1210142 tn?1266077031 Stopped Lisinopril for a little bit and felt much better- unfortunately my blood pressure went a little up. Then my PCP substitute it for Losartan- have been taking this drug/25 mg/ for a week and feel extremely dizzy and nauseated. The cardiologist suggested to cut Carvbedilol in half/so now I am taking 3.125 twice a day instead of 6.25 and my chest pain almost disapear. I don't know if Losartan can cause this or just switching drugs my body needs more time...?
Avatar f tn Hello there my son also is 5 and has a 2.94 cm ascending aorta with other involvement. I'm not sure if this is allowed (Admin let me know!) I'd like to invite you to a group Aortic Dilation in Children on Facebook. There are other BAV and Marfan moms there, some that have had success with losartan and also a cousin of losartan. I'm going to send you a Message!
973741 tn?1342342773 If you get a good reduction and hit the 130 range for your regular blood pressure after being much higher previously, is this considered a success? Or should you increase medication and work to lower it even further?
Avatar m tn I have had an heart failure due to high chotesterol so I am on medication for Hipertension/ High Cholesterol. I recent weeks after I start using Co-Diovan 160/12.5 mg in place of Hyzar I am experiencing a gradual tightening in the upper chest toward the neck/throat and it is as if i may stop breathing? I am not sure if the change in medication has anything to do with it! I use to to exercise for about 30 min. or more each day, I can do only 2-3 mins. and with great difficulty?
Avatar m tn She has no obvious symptoms but her cardiologist has put her on a new regimen of 4 meds (statin, Plavix, losartan, metoprolol)... which she finds terribly overwhelming. My question is ... why both losartan (an Angiotensin II) and metoprolol (a beta blocker)? Don't they both do the same thing by lowering blood pressure and opening up the coronary arteries? She is also tiny in height (5 ft) and I'm concerned that both are too much for her.
Avatar n tn I am on Losartan 50 mg sice last few years, Sometime my BP goes berserk ranging from 150-160/90-105. I used to combine atenolo 25 mg and it used to be normal. Now since 5 days back I forgot to take Losartan at my usual time in morning, but took it in evening. What happened that my BP is not cominh down, I take metprolol 25 mg in morning and after an hour or so BP becomes more or less normal but start rising after 9pm and in the morning ranges the same as mentioned earlier.
769503 tn?1238496321 No, do not take any more medication other than what has been prescribed for you. It is irrelevant what doses other people are on, because the doctor will prescribe a dose that is for you. If you are still having very high blood pressure, you need to make an appointment and see your doctor. He will either change the dose or change the medication to a different one.

Avatar m tn Thank you. My electrolytes are ok. I am taking losartan with amlodine.
973741 tn?1342342773 So, Losartan blocks a hormone in our blood. That's all I can think of. I've lost weight since starting the medication. I don't crave food as much at all. I'm wondering if this is a common occurrence on this class of medications. I've read there is some data on the hormone that relates to blood pressure, angiotensin 2, that it is also related to weight. Any info on this?
Avatar n tn m not sure if it is my pre menstrual, which never feels like this, or the new medication. Has anyone had stomach pains or cramps as side effect of Metformin? I'm also taking Lisinopril-HTCZ.
