Losartan diuretic

Common Questions and Answers about Losartan diuretic

cozaar

Avatar n tn Losartan alone, also known as Cozaar does not have a diuretic. But Losartan with HCTZ is also known as Hyzaar. Don't assume yours has the diuretic in it. Ask the pharmacist.
Avatar m tn It is essentially the same as Hyzaar which contains a combination of hydrochlorothiazide and losartan. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) that helps prevent your body from absorbing too much salt, which can cause fluid retention. Losartan is also in a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Losartan keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow which is exactly how Diovan works.
1008841 tn?1293598960 Has anyone heard about a study with Losartan, a BP drug, on people with HCV, with moderate Fibrosis? Its suppose to shrink them, so the liver can heal. I was wondering how I could get on a study like that? I'm Type1a, a non-responder.
Avatar m tn 2,5 months ago I started taking Lodoz 2,5 mg (bisoprolol with diuretic), blood persure before taking medicine was approximately 160/100. The medicine was prescribed in the same dose by general practice doctor 2,5 months ago . In the meantime I did ultrasound of the heart and the result seems to be OK. as wel as EKG.
Avatar f tn Blood pressure has been up so doseage of losartan was increased and diuretic added this week. Terrible deep muscle cramping and surface spasms. Each drug has its own side effects. Am I being too restrictive of sodium and potassium intake? Hoping not to have to add more drugs to the mix. I'm stage 3-4, 1b, had breakthrough wk 65 of SOC May 2010. Appreciate any insight from tx exp'd- Thanks!
Avatar m tn Hey everyone thanks in advance for those of you that are reading this it Is greatly appreciated of any feed back. First of I'm 22 years of age, male about 6'2 kinda muscular 228 pounds, and pretty active. I've been diagnosed with hypertension and was put on losartan 50mg/hctz 12.5mg by my cardiologist when my blood pressure was running about 150-160/80-90 consistantly about 2 months ago.
Avatar m tn Is the Atenolol suitable, or should I request another beta blocker? Likewise, is there a better diuretic than Chlortalidone? I keep reading about Coreg and & Demadex. Are these better options? Cozaar: They initially wanted to put me on Lisinopril, but I was on that previously and I had a terrible, nagging cough the entire time. I've read that ACE Inhibitors are preferable to ARBs, though, when it comes to CHF.
Avatar m tn I perceive that if you are taking an ace inhibitor & then add a diuretic you would have to reduce the ace inhibitor dose to offset the diuretic as the heart would have to beat faster due to the dilation and less fluid. Would this combination cause tachycardia and how should the dose be regulated?
Avatar m tn My new VA doctor wants to change one of my blood pressure medications from 160 mg of Valsartan 2 times per day to an equivalent dose of 100 mg of Losartan but only once per day. My blood pressure has been controlled for years with typical readings around 118/70 using the Valsartan, Amlodipine 5mg, and a diuretic (hydrochlorothiazide 25mg). I have not made the change yet. 1. Why should I agree to experiment with reducing my primary blood pressure medication and what are the risks?
Avatar m tn Earlier I was only on losartan, but the doctor added diuretic 3years ago to control HBP it better. Now I have moved to Diovan+Diuretic to try to improve other side effects of losartan medication (still not better with diovan anyways, I always feel tired). I also take both the medications in the morning itself (before 11am).
Avatar m tn Sometimes raised bp causes the lvh. Also is it 3 meds you take? Losartan, Hctz (A diuretic) and Spiro (a Diuretic, Potassium sparing type). Revisit things with the cardio till you are happy. They probably consider 150 ish as not too bad for systolic. But the next thing will be double the dose of some of the meds!! Also did you get tested for secondary causes of bp? eg Pheo or Conns syndrome? worth a few tests just in case. both could be sorted.
Avatar f tn In the meantime L-Arginine in three divided doses of 2-3 grams will assist. Consult with your physician about prescribing Losartan, even if your blood pressure is in order. Low-dose Losartan will relax the vasculature. You don't need more than 5 mg. It cause a systemic increase in body capacitance. Meantime take D3 supplements and alpha-omega fish oils supplements.
1090984 tn?1463769850 I am on 10mg lisinopril and 12.5 of a Diuretic. My fingers have been swelling up so bad the last 3 months to the point I had to have my rings cut off. My doctor doesn't seem concerned, just gave me another Diuretic 12.5 to take it when I swell up again. Will that lower my BP a lot or make me feel weird? I never heard of anyone taking that much unless they have CHF. I am a little concered why my fingers are so puffy all the time.
Avatar f tn Hallo there -anyone and everyone. Is there any reasons to prefer or take losartan above olmesartan or the olmesartan above losartan. Person taking these is african, 57 years, female and oh, my mother.
Avatar m tn His averaged blood pressure is 146/80. He was placed on losartan potassium (50 mg) for 8 days but there is no change to his averaged blood pressure. Would you advice him continuing losartan or seek new drugs? Many thanks. Avatar m tn //www.drugs.com/sfx/losartan-side-effects.html Uncommonly, ear congestion and hearing loss occur. But you are describing hypersensitivity. Losartan is associated for some with tremor. I would wonder if the sound issue is not related to a bit of anxiety. I'm not really seeing anything in the literature to support what you describe with retards to sound being louder but sensory experiences can be affected whenever our nervous system is not regulated.
Avatar m tn These are the ACE drugs and the ARB drugs. The best,in my opinion is the ARB drug Losartan, invented 1990, approved 1995, sold about 2000 and out of patent 2010 (therefore inexpensive). This drug blocks angiotensin varients from attach to the cells walls of the vascular system and cause vasoconstriction. Dose is generally from 25mg to 100 mg a day. Over 100 mg doesn't help much more. They prescribe once a day, but you can break up the dose into two pills a day.
Avatar m tn My GP put me on Lisinopril last year but switched me to Losartan after the Lisinopril failed to help. The Losartan brought my BP down a lot with a 50 mg daily dose. I was down to 110/70 and even 100/65 at times. I even got light-headed when I stood up quickly. The GP said this was normal and good. He likes my BP to be well below 120/80. So far so good. I was getting the Losartan from Walgreens as a 30 day supply.
Avatar m tn My cardiologist told me of this and I was, scared confused, so I came home googled and found it was very serious. I am now on losartan 100mg/hctz 25mg, and at night I take spironolacone 25mg. My blood pressure runs anywhere from 135/80-148/92 on the meds. I cannot use a beta blocker, because late evening my resting Heart Rate gets to low 50's. But during the day runs anywhere from 80-60 resting. Typically get 80 more often after a full meal.
Avatar n tn I cannot remember if I took my Losartan today or not - 100 mg. should I take it?
Avatar m tn I was on losartan for a few months. I don't think that my bp was consistenlty high. I think what was going on was that it was very up and down and it was making me feel pretty bad. But losartan which is a third line for bp was the first thing that they put me on. And I don't think my bp was that bad. I have had elevated renin/aldosterone studies and low potassium in the past.
Avatar m tn I have been on Losartan for approximately eight months come here recently I have found it very difficult to swallow my food and seems like he gets caught in my esophagus, yesterday at two different Meals I began to choke on my food I had to drink several glasses of water in order to get my food to go down with no issues. Could this be a side effect of Losartan?
Avatar f tn I had a heart cath done this past week and was told two things. 1) I have CAD with blockage on the right coronary artery but it was not enough to stent, thankfully. 2) The left ventricular filling pressure was more than twice what it should be (the number was .26 or thereabouts). My cardiologist said this means we need to be extra diligent about getting my blood pressure down. (Already on Coreg 40 mg, Losartan 50mg 2 x day, Adalat 30 mg, and Lisinopril 10 mg.
Avatar f tn I am currently on Lisinopril to keep my BP down (I have Cardiomyopathy after going into CHF from a virus that went to my heart). I have had a cough which is a side effect of Lisinopril. My doctor just gave me a RX for Losartan but this med is more expensive by quite a bit. I haven't had any other problems with Lisinopril besides the cough and I am scared to change meds and take the chance of worse side effects.
Avatar n tn People often take sleeping meds and anti depressants that have hcv or are treating. I don't know a lot about the lisinoprill, but I read about a small study that Losartan (for high blood pressure) may reverse fibrosis. Your doctor should know about your hcv and your meds, especially if you are treating. http://ihealthbulletin.
16467414 tn?1448304929 The doctor put on Losartan Potassium 50 mg. Since then I have been feeling nauseated and slightly dizzy. Are these symptoms normal with this medication? Any help will be appreciated.
Avatar n tn I stopped taking losartan September 8,still having symptoms. Been on losartan about 4 years. I have asked the dr. Could it be that,he said no. I stopped myself to see if it's the problem. I have a home blood pressure monitor & it's been in the120-128/78-82 range. Problem been going on about year..
