Avatar f tn I did just find something that was interesting. The link, in the case you would want to read more, is http://www.theheart.org/article/1384629.do. I am taking the following out of the whole to publish here as I feel there might be some reassurance to others in this information as this doctor is supposed to be a renowned hypertension expert. In an interview, Dr Norman Kaplan (University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas) agreed.
Avatar n tn I cannot remember if I took my Losartan today or not - 100 mg. should I take it?
Avatar m tn The carvedilol is usually started at a low dose and titrated up every week or 2 weeks. Losartan can be started at whatever dose seems reasonable for your blood pressure. No need to taper, you can just make the switch. The primary care doctor that you see will likely know all of this.
Avatar m tn //www.drugs.com/sfx/losartan-side-effects.html Uncommonly, ear congestion and hearing loss occur. But you are describing hypersensitivity. Losartan is associated for some with tremor. I would wonder if the sound issue is not related to a bit of anxiety. I'm not really seeing anything in the literature to support what you describe with retards to sound being louder but sensory experiences can be affected whenever our nervous system is not regulated.
Avatar m tn I was on losartan for a few months. I don't think that my bp was consistenlty high. I think what was going on was that it was very up and down and it was making me feel pretty bad. But losartan which is a third line for bp was the first thing that they put me on. And I don't think my bp was that bad. I have had elevated renin/aldosterone studies and low potassium in the past.
Avatar n tn I have been telling people on these boards for a long time to investigate angiotensin receptor-blocker (ARB) (any ARB except losartan is preferable) or ACE-inhibitor (ACE-i) (perindopril is the only one I know of that really works) therapy with a cardiologist at a major medical center/university who is UP TO DATE on the latest research.
Avatar m tn Losartan is a really good drug with few side effects. 50 mg is not a high dose. It should not be causing any of the problems you mention. Ask your doctor.
2009161 tn?1327915695 I was worried so went to a doctor, the doctor checked my BP was 170/100, which was high as per the doctor, since then I am having LOSARTAN POTASIUM tablets of 50 mg every day prescribed by him, but still at times my BP in the evenings when I check is 150/100. Do I need to increase my dossage or continue with some physical excercises to reduce my BP, when ever I did some meditation for 10 mins, I checked with my electronic BP monitor it reduces compared to previous reading though.
973741 tn?1342342773 That's helpful. I am also taking Losartan. I had a big drop (my bp was in a dangerous zone for a while) and it is higher in the doctors office but am wondering if at my physical coming up, they'll increase the losartan. I"m on the lower dose but still am in the 130's range. I have congenital hypertension. I am at a better weight right now but am in a stressful time of life which doesn't help. Just trying to keep my heart from exploding.
1210142 tn?1266077031 Stopped Lisinopril for a little bit and felt much better- unfortunately my blood pressure went a little up. Then my PCP substitute it for Losartan- have been taking this drug/25 mg/ for a week and feel extremely dizzy and nauseated. The cardiologist suggested to cut Carvbedilol in half/so now I am taking 3.125 twice a day instead of 6.25 and my chest pain almost disapear. I don't know if Losartan can cause this or just switching drugs my body needs more time...?
363682 tn?1299489362 My medication currently involves Losartan, Bisoprolol, Atorvastatin, Citalopram and Omeprazole and has been the same since well before these incidents. The only thing that did change was an increase in dose of the Losartan from 20mgs. to 50mgs.in December '10. Apparently, suspicion has now fallen on the possibility that the latter is now causing periodic postular hypotension.
Avatar f tn My hair has been thinning and I'm on the same dose of losartan. Wonder if that's why?
Avatar f tn I am concerned about the drop in dose and generic brand (synthroid is tier 4-expensive for me). I also take losartan 25mg and just came off Farxiga since I am not pre-diabetic anymore, A1c is 5.6 (4-6.4).
Avatar f tn Hi Sue, Please take a moment to click on my screen name to view my many prior posts on this topic. Also visit www. marfanlife .net/bb3 (remove the spaces; I put them in there so that this website would let me display the address) and look at the "Pharmacy" section for extensive discussion on this topic. My understanding is that it would be OK for a teenager to be on this type of drug, especially one who is only 3 years from being an adult.
Avatar m tn She has no obvious symptoms but her cardiologist has put her on a new regimen of 4 meds (statin, Plavix, losartan, metoprolol)... which she finds terribly overwhelming. My question is ... why both losartan (an Angiotensin II) and metoprolol (a beta blocker)? Don't they both do the same thing by lowering blood pressure and opening up the coronary arteries? She is also tiny in height (5 ft) and I'm concerned that both are too much for her.
Avatar m tn My new VA doctor wants to change one of my blood pressure medications from 160 mg of Valsartan 2 times per day to an equivalent dose of 100 mg of Losartan but only once per day. My blood pressure has been controlled for years with typical readings around 118/70 using the Valsartan, Amlodipine 5mg, and a diuretic (hydrochlorothiazide 25mg). I have not made the change yet. 1. Why should I agree to experiment with reducing my primary blood pressure medication and what are the risks?
Avatar f tn clonidine, I just started, I plan to stop taking Losartan. This works best O.2 mg per day. A dose of .
537843 tn?1213664232 So your TSH was maybe 70 or 80 before you started taking Levoxyl. Were you started on a high dose? How long have you been taking 200mcg? I have been there. I have had my TSH drop 40 points in a week after getting on the right dose of meds. But I went from post RAI no meds straight to 100mcg, which is what my body wanted. Within six weeks my TSH was between 1.0 and 2.0. That's why I said you may need a dosage increase.
Avatar m tn The key is to take a high enough dosage - for most people, this is about the maximum FDA-approved dose. In particularly large people, the required dose may be higher. You should quickly find a cardiologist who is knowledgeable about connective tissue disease and ARB therapy. It is cutting edge and most physicians/cardiologists are unaware of this treatment. You might contact Dr. Hal Dietz at Johns Hopkins for a referral in your area.
Avatar n tn I was also recently diagnosed with kidney disease called IgA Nephropathy- The Nephrologist put me on low dose of Losartan as a preventive measure as HBP causes further kidney damage. I think the combo of the Losartan and the Carvedilol is what made me faint. My nephrologist told me to discontinue the Losartan for now.
Avatar f tn Hallo there -anyone and everyone. Is there any reasons to prefer or take losartan above olmesartan or the olmesartan above losartan. Person taking these is african, 57 years, female and oh, my mother.
Avatar m tn Yes, Flomax can cause both insomnia and somnolence, which is a state of near sleep. Please inform your doctor. Either a change of prescription or a dose adjustment may help. Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
