2191752 tn?1338280689 I believe you are not that predisposed to have cough when you take amlodipine because unlike losartan, it does not predisposed you to have infections that causes cough. Nevertheless, before switching medications you have to consult with your physician first.
Avatar f tn They started me on losartan 50 mg and amlodipine 5mg. And for some reason it seams like it is not going down, so I went to the ER and they increased my amlodipine to 10mg and adv me to contact my primary dr that following week. Called the dr that next week and he increased my losartan to 100 mg and amlodipine to 10 mg, 1 each per day. However it seems like my bp is still hanging out around the upper 180's.
Avatar m tn I had been taking Amlodipine for a few weeks and BP rose. Doctor has increased to 5 mg. Not sure how long it will take to reduce BP. Has anyone any experience with Amlodipine? How is it? Any adverse side effects?
Avatar f tn 5 mg of Metoprolol and 10 mg Amlodipine for about 3 months. I have COPD and something was aggravating my breathing problems. I went to the doctor yesterday and he took me off the Metoprolol and put me on 100 mg of Losartan. He told me to just stop taking the Metoprolol. I questioned starting off with such a high dose of Losartan. I seem to be very sensitive to these medications and felt starting right off with 100 mg was a bit high.
15481674 tn?1440853541 30 i ate breakfast and today i only took 1/2 an Ativan instead of a whole one my Losartan, my Amlodipine, my Metformin and my vitamin d3 ski far no reaction today.

Avatar m tn So I was put on amlodipine 10mg and Propranolol 40mg on 1st July 2016. This helped lower my blood pressure to around 115/68. Only problem is that it makes me feel quite tired after little activity like walking. After complaining about this tiredness to the doctor yesterday, he changed my drugs to 100mg Losartan (1 tablet per day) and 25mg Atenolol (2 tablets per day).
Avatar m tn My new VA doctor wants to change one of my blood pressure medications from 160 mg of Valsartan 2 times per day to an equivalent dose of 100 mg of Losartan but only once per day. My blood pressure has been controlled for years with typical readings around 118/70 using the Valsartan, Amlodipine 5mg, and a diuretic (hydrochlorothiazide 25mg). I have not made the change yet. 1. Why should I agree to experiment with reducing my primary blood pressure medication and what are the risks?

20003202 tn?1488258062 (stopped working), now just Amlodipine 10 mg. Since taking the Amlodipine 10 mg. for about a week, my blood pressure keeps going higher and higher. Today readings were between 160/90 - 165/125. Also, my lower legs are sore, I have dizziness and feel light-headed, and are extremely lethargic. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel? Is there a cleaner medication with better results and less side effects. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am desperate....

Avatar m tn You could also try various calcium channel blockers such as Amlodipine (norvasc). Make sure to quit smoking and take care of your cholesterol. Start with a heathy diet and exercise and if that doesn't work start taking a statin.
Avatar n tn Is there a counter active process of which my losartan (50mg) and amlodipine (10mg) are working against the natural supplements? I have stopped my meds and taken only bp supplements but bp is still elevated. I do take on a daily basis D3,zinc,quercetin,a multi vitamin, turmeric,a small drop of iodine, nitric oxide several times a week before a work out and a probiotic digestive pill. I Do feel good during the day of working and working out and i sleep fairly well for my age.
Avatar n tn Clonidine, Glimepiride, Byetta, Metformin, Amlodipine, Crestor, and Losartan HCT. Is it possible that it could be these meds? Please help!! I'm working by tail off and still have a GUT. Thank you in advance.

2009161 tn?1327915695 I am currently taking losartan 100mg/hctz, I went to the doc today and my Bp was 170/80 very high systolic not sure why? I was somewhat anxious but I'm on meds just 22 years old so I understand your situation. I am heading tomorrow for another heart echo (had one in feb but by a different doc) hoping for good results. I also hope you find what your needing. Sorry I know I didn't help, just letting you know your not alone.
Avatar m tn s then it took off. Out of Control. I was on 20mg Lisinopril and 5mg Amlodipine. It was pretty devastating for me as I've always been in top athletic condition and all my lab results were picture perfect. You might want to start on a DASH diet or if you're feeling highly motivated as I was go Vegan and eliminate meat, dairy and oils. I was able to wean off my meds in 6 months and now maintain a BP around 115/65.

Losartan may reduce kidney function in some patients and should not be used by patients who have bilateral renal artery stenosis (narrowing of both arteries going to the kidneys). Rare cases of rhabdomyolysis (muscle breakdown) have been reported.
Avatar f tn I am taking Losartan HCTZ 25 mgs and just added is Amlodipine 25 mg. I have been taken medication since Aug 012 with little success. I am very stressed and just started with a counselor to help with with tramatic experiences that I have gone through as a child and stress as an adult. I have never used a salt shaker, I've never smoked or ever drank alcohol. I'm 44 and I do not really eat healthy although I try and am not as active as I should be. I am 5'2" and weigh 205lbs.
Avatar n tn I had all the routine tests to rule out secondary causes and was therefore diagnosed as having essential/primary hypertension and commenced on Losartan, my BP remained uncontrolled running about 150/100 and throughout numerous months my medication was changed, finally settling at 100mg Losartan and 10mg Amlodipine which kept my BP controlled at around 120/70.
Avatar f tn s, kidney scans and urine samples, so I was put on 50 mg of Losartan- atid a day, got a machine for the upper arm and everything has been normal since then (I measure everyday). My mother has had hypertension for about 10 years now, but her measurements weren't as high and she gets it from being obese.
Avatar f tn Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker indicated for hypertension. The S form of amlodipine is said to be responsible for dilation of blood vessels and lowering of blood pressure. The S- isomer of amlodipine or Asomex® is being studied in clinical trials and may lead to side effects such as fatigue or tiredness, dizziness or fainting, headache, flushing, or swelling of the legs or ankles. Side effects of amlodipine are generally mild and reversible.
Avatar n tn I was just prescribed amlodipine for my gastritis how ever I can't seem to find any info about it being helpful for that. All the info I have found is about blood pressure. Is this a common prescription? Should I be concerned if I already have low blood pressure?
Avatar f tn Aspirin, (75mg/day), losartan (100mg./day), nicorandil (15mg.twice/day), Amlodipine (10mg/day). Recent Anginal pain has led to further cardiac catheterisation with the following results:- LV Angiogram:- Good functioning Left Ventrical. Coronary Arteries:- Left Main Stem Normal. LAD - The LAD seems to be occluded quite proximally. It gives rise to a decent first septal perforator which seems to be diseased throughout.
