Avatar n tn So about 3 weeks ago, me and my boyfriend had sex. It was quite painful for me and after that i felt burning 'down there'. The next few days it was incredibly itchy, but my period came so i couldn't go to the hospital. After my period, i still had that problem down there, it just wasn't as itchy as before. I tried a few off the counter medications but none seemed to work. I went to the hospital and i was told it was a fungus.
Avatar m tn For head treatment, I will use Stieprox shampoo with Ciclopirox Olamine 1.5% w/w which relieves my scalps itching & scaling issue.. a bit expensive but it works for me :) I think I will continue using this tablets until I get examined by derma specialist. By the way, is there is any side effects of using this medicine continuously? Thank you in advanced.
Avatar m tn That yours responds to ciclopirox (Loprox) favors yeast as the cause, but not necessarily. Perhaps any moisturizing cream plus local hygiene -- foreskin retraction and washing -- would be equally effective. To be certain there isn't a separate problem causing the apparent irritation/inflammation of your meatus (urethral opening), talk with your doctor about a urine or urethral swab test for gonorrhea and chlamydia, if not done before now. But I expect these would be negative.
Avatar m tn Other topicals that are used to treat Pityrosporum folliculitis are ciclopirox olamine cream, econazole cream, alcohol and salicylic acid solution. Retinoids are not very effective. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and discuss these treatment options with him. I sincerely hope it helps. Take care and please do keep us posted on how you are doing. Warm regards.
Avatar m tn Thanks Grace for the response. I visited my primary doctor again and he said since he does not see blisters now, he still thinks it is yeast infection and the rash that i have now(it is healing now) also looks like a fungal infection and asked me to use "Ciclopirox Olamine Topical cream" for another 10 days and get the blood test IGg and IGM (AB) for Herpes done after that since it will be 6 weeks after outbreak and antibodies should have developed by then if there is an infection.
Avatar m tn s office but I see a different doctor and I told here this cream is much help and I also showed her my scrotum area which she said right away it was jock itch and that she would give me a different cream. She gave me ciclopirox olamine 30g tube and I've used it since June 28. I'm not sure but what could this be? Jock itch? Herpes? Another skin condition? The pain associated with this is at the least amount during this whole ordeal but I need answers. I've also taken pictures to show.
Avatar n tn White piedra can be treated by using topical antifungals, including imidazoles, ciclopirox olamine, 2% selenium sulfide, 6% precipitated sulfur in petroleum, chlorhexidine solution, Castellani paint, zinc pyrithione, and amphotericin B lotion. ref:http://www.emedicine.com/DERM/topic614.htm ref:http://nahrsmembers.org/home/PatientInformationFAQs/HairShaftDefectsFAQ/tabid/68/ItemId/36/Default.aspx ref:http://www.emedicine.com/DERM/topic788.
Avatar n tn He told me he didnt see any signs of fungus or yeast, but gave me an antifungal anyways, and told me I have Intertrigo. I am using zeasorb AF powder along with a sparing amount of ciclopirox olamine 0.77% cream The rash has lightened a little, but isnt really "healing" Has anyone ever had a stubborn case of Intertrigo? I am not obese and have never had any problem like this before in my life.
Avatar m tn I visited my doctor last Monday and he thought it was fungal and prescribed Ciclopirox Olamine Cream 0.77% anti-fungal and 7 x Fluconazole 200mg tablets antibiotic, one per day for seven days. Nothing affected the rashes visibly or stopped it from spreading. Today I went to a friend's hospital laboratory and they took two skin KOH prep skin scrapping done. Samples were obtained from my foot and upper right arm, result was NO yeast and NO fungal elements were detected.
Avatar n tn elidel cream 1% which has been the most amazing cream ive ever used (though i had to pay 350$ for a 100g tube), an anti inflammatory pill that makes the redness go completely away within 30min-1hr, and a RX anti fungal lotion ( ciclopirox olamine topical suspension usp .77% 85$). these things together have given me the GREATEST skin ive ever had. my skin is looks even better than normal with the combination of all three.
Avatar m tn After meeting with him, he prescribed a topical solution known as Loprox. Loprox is expensive as it costs about $100 per bottle at the pharmacy. You are supposed to put it on the infected areas about 30 minutes before you take a shower each day for the first 2 weeks, then just a few times a week thereafter. While I did notice small improvement immediately, it was not until about 5 straight months of consistent treatment before the ugly discoloration was gone.
Avatar n tn Prior the the potential exposure, I was prescribed a topical nail fungus medication (ClearNails Pro) that is fat soluble and claims to penetrate to the nail bed. This medication contains a drug called ciclopirox which was recently discovered to kill hiv infected cells in vitro. The percentage of ciclopirox is 6 percent. 1. Since my fungal medication is fat soluble and contains ciclopirox, will it enter the blood stream in enough concentration to affect the accuracy of an hiv antibody test?
Avatar m tn Hello, Well, I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend on september 5th a couple of times that day. 3 days later, i saw red spots on my penis, no sores, no white fluid, nothing like that on my penis and the foreskin. I went to the doctor because I was afraid I might have gotten herpes, but he said no and prescribed me Loprox (1% cream top). He told me to use that for a week and it would clear itself out.
Avatar n tn i have a red blister like spot on the head of my penis, it does not itch nor does it burn when i urinate, i went to the doctor and told me it wasn't a SDT and thought that it may be a fungis and gave me Loprox cream to use which i have been for a week now and there hasn't been much change, i was hoping that someone could tell me what else i could do to make it go away faster or what else it could posibly be.
Avatar m tn yeah your prob right grace, just paranoid i guess my ex gf has cold sores, after the last sexual encounter in may i developed balanitis which my doctor treated with loprox. but my penis was fine from may until now, thanks for the response.
Avatar n tn Minocycline, Metrogel, Prosacea, Eurax, Loprox, Tea Tree Ointment, Econazole, Clotrimazole, Ketoconazole 1%, Selsun Blue, Lotrimin Ultra, Finacea, oral Diflucan, an assortment of vitamins and supplements, natural and alternative medicine. I have this theory that my body is attacking my chin area's skin cells, therefore breaking down my skin barrier or turning cell turnover too rapidly, which may make the cells clump up in my pores. How do I get to the gist of it and stop it?
495402 tn?1220617403 Another participant suggested that the combination of Bacitracin and Loprox (ciclopirox) was very effective. Patients should put a “dot” of each on their fingertips, and then apply enough to the corners of the mouth every couple of hours to keep coated. Excessive moisture and secondary bacterial and/or fungal colonization can keep the lips from healing. Candida infection can also cause cheilosis, which can be treated topically with ketoconazole cream 2%, twice a day.
1285444 tn?1271772333 Antidandruff shampoos containing antifungal agents such as ketoconazole or ciclopirox are sometimes helpful. Also take some oral antihistaminics like Benadryl. Specific treatment consists of topical and oral antibiotics for which I suggest you to consult a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist.
Avatar f tn The scalp should be washed with a mild normal shampoo as often as desired. Antidandruff shampoos containing antifungal agents such as ketoconazole or ciclopirox are sometimes helpful. Apart from that you need topical and oral antibiotics, antihistamines, oral steroids and topical tretinoin. My sincere advice is to get it examined from a dermatologist.

Avatar f tn Hello, everyone. I have had a rash on my chin (see picture) for about 5 months now. It started out on the right side of my chin. It would come and go randomly without treatment. About a year ago I had some seborrheic dermatitis around my nose and the derm prescribed me Ertaczo (an anti-fungal). That cleared up the rash right away. I went to my primary physician and showed him the rash on my chin mentioning that it looked similar to the rash I originally had around my nose.
