Is the Lipitor doing damage to his joints as well as causing pain? Is there any other medication with less side effects?

I had to come off of Lipitor after one week due to severe muscle and joint pain. My mother had moderate pain after starting Lipitor. We were both encouraged by our separate physicians to take coenzyme Q10 with the Lipitor. While my pain continued, my mother's pain has almost completely disappeared.

I am 25 male and been on lipitor 20mg for almost 2 months. No side effects.

Like you, I pulled myself off of Lipitor (atorvastatin) because of muscle and joint weakness/pain and other recorded side effect. m saying that in the case of statins, the effects have been proven to NOT be accumulative. Side effects almost always present in the first 90 days. I'm sure there are some situations where that is not the case.

I quit taking it, and within 2 weeks they were gone, despite an allergist not finding it. I tried Vytorin, had muscle and joint pain. But in the past few years, taking simvistatin and a few others, it has been a mood/anger issue. My wife complains, telling me I'm pain to live with, I argue all the time, go off at the slightest thing. And I have to admit, I can feel it too. In doing things around the house, if I run into a difficult task, I get aggravated and frustrated very quick.

Which is more risky, having a stroke or heart attack due to the very high cholesterol or experiencing severe mucle pain due to the side effect of the Statin. I don't want both of them! I am not familiar with Lipitor, but I did google it, side effects of taking it r muscle pain....fibro has a tender point test and is the result after ur dr has eliminated other conditions that share the same symptoms...see the health pages to the right of the screen...scroll down......ur best bet would be to see ur dr.

thanks for the suggestion about lipitor - I will discuss as well. I have driven my total Chol down to about 110 and LDL to about 50 by diet (plant based and no oils), in combination with the lipitor and it seems it would be logical to test coming of the 5 mg lipitor for a short period and see if there is an effect on the upper back pain and also check lipids to assess how much of my change is due to lipitor vs diet.

4M now 0. Was feeling great except last 3 days chills, severe joint pain , headache cold hands and feet. I would like to hear if others may have similar syndrome .

other new symptoms are joint pain/stiffness and no, previous symptoms not resolved....continued lethargy + and 0 weight loss..... As of this morning I am stopping medication in hopes that the faintness/dizzyness will go away as well as the joint pain....the office of the Dr. that prescribed the medication I have since found out has been closed by legal action!

I, too, have joint pain and swelling in hands (and sometimes feet) w/femara. I have developed a trigger finger and dequervains tendonitis in bilateral wrist w/thumb pain. Had to go off med for a month and also have sites injected w/cortisone. Never had any of this before. Oncologist said she had seen trigger finger before no dequervains tendonitis? Wondering if anyone out there has had any of these side effects? And what do you think of this? I am miserable w/all this discomfort.

ve stopped taking methimazole 12 days ago because of the strong side effects (hives, joint/muscle pain, dry throat). Though these effects are lessening, I wonder how long it might take for them to be completely gone.
