Common Questions and Answers about Lipitor side effects pain

lipitor

Avatar n tn I am 25 male and been on lipitor 20mg for almost 2 months. No side effects.
Avatar f tn Is the Lipitor doing damage to his joints as well as causing pain? Is there any other medication with less side effects?
10996785 tn?1432812977 No one told me about lipitor side effects. I literally felt like my body was freezing up. When I Googled it, they referenced ALS like symptoms. This really blew my mind. (spill the wine). They say it may take a month or longer to feel a little bit better. The blood work being ok is a big thing all of a sudden. I have a low grade side effect. I'm weaning off trazodone now, next neurontin, then nortripyline. Maybe. Better days ahead. Maybe...
Avatar n tn I had to come off of Lipitor after one week due to severe muscle and joint pain. My mother had moderate pain after starting Lipitor. We were both encouraged by our separate physicians to take coenzyme Q10 with the Lipitor. While my pain continued, my mother's pain has almost completely disappeared.
1583640 tn?1296674030 m saying that in the case of statins, the effects have been proven to NOT be accumulative. Side effects almost always present in the first 90 days. I'm sure there are some situations where that is not the case.
519736 tn?1253986826 I have no knowledge of these medications, but did look up side effects of statins. If it does happen to be a side effect, how long should he wait to see if this pain resolves itself after stopping the lipitor....any help is appreciated.
Avatar f tn Which is more risky, having a stroke or heart attack due to the very high cholesterol or experiencing severe mucle pain due to the side effect of the Statin. I don't want both of them! Did anyone here experience bad effects of a Statin drug? If yes, what are they? Has anyone experienced severe muscle pain due to the drug? If you did, what did you do? What are my other choices besides Statin? I am also experiencing PVCs lately and it really scares me.
Avatar n tn I was on medication in and out as I develop side effects to the statin drugs. I was on Lipitor, then on Pravachol and lastly on Crestor. None of them had problems loweting the Choesterol levels, but muscle and joint pain even with Vit D and Co Q10 as prescribed my physician. However, I came off crestor yesterday as I started feeling Dizzy. I am normally a "healthy", active energetic person. Now my doc thinks we should try Zetia which is in a different family of drugs.
Avatar f tn I am not familiar with Lipitor, but I did google it, side effects of taking it r muscle pain....fibro has a tender point test and is the result after ur dr has eliminated other conditions that share the same symptoms...see the health pages to the right of the screen...scroll down......ur best bet would be to see ur dr.
Avatar m tn Some of the statin drugs, like the one you're taking, can cause joint/muscle pain. My mom had to stop taking Lipitor because of severe leg pain. Before you ask your doctor for a referral to a rheumatologist, do some research into the side effects of your meds. There are some web sites out there that let you input all your meds and supplements, and check for side effects and adverse interactions. Another good source of information is your local pharmacist.
Avatar m tn thanks for the suggestion about lipitor - I will discuss as well. I have driven my total Chol down to about 110 and LDL to about 50 by diet (plant based and no oils), in combination with the lipitor and it seems it would be logical to test coming of the 5 mg lipitor for a short period and see if there is an effect on the upper back pain and also check lipids to assess how much of my change is due to lipitor vs diet.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the information, see the problem is that I have tried so many hbp meds and they give me really bad side effects, they have tested my liver function and kidney function and they are fine. I've had 24hour urine done a bunch of times and been tested for every and anything. My Gp has diagnosed me with primary hypertension(I guess genetic-I'm 5"10" 183lb.) all of the bp meds give me bad side effects.
Avatar m tn Hi, if the blockage in the artery has resolved, then the goal has been accomplished. The symptoms you experience could be side effects of the medications, but please check to see if these are due to vitamin deficiencies. Take a balanced diet rich in plenty of fruits and vegetables. Regards.
576875 tn?1217987525 Within a few months I had severe muscle pain and loss of strength. I was taken off Lipitor. My current LDL is about 180 and use Flax Oil and Niacin supplements daily. Since beginning Lotrel in 2007 I have had a recurrence of severe muscle pain and weakness. I also suffered heat exhaustion in 2006 and now cannot tolerate more than 6 hours in, 90degree plus, heat. I sometimes have night sweats, and chills. My feet are so painful that I take Advil to sleep.
Avatar m tn You may even call your pharmacy, they will be more qualified to answer. Remember, Lipitor is much stronger and usually will have more side effects and much depends on why you got off it in the first place.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your input. I should say the clinic did give me the simvastatin first but then switched to Lipitor. They themselved said it was better. I've heard of Lipitor going generic in a few years - maybe that influenced their decision to switch patients now. I just can't understand how they can override the cardiologist without any chance of appeal. I will speak to him again and see if he thinks he should intervene.
Avatar n tn You need to be checked out more thoroughly. It might be esophageal attack...Lipitor has side effects...do you know what they are? Look closer at what your diet is. Do you microwave foods?....see the dangers of microwaving. Do you eat MSG?...know the 13 names of it. All these things can cause damage. Put your diet under a microscope.
Avatar f tn One of the side effects of statins, and a fairly serious one, is degeneration of muslce tissue especially in the legs. If this side effect is noticed, then the drug is to be immediately stopped by the doctor. This is written on the leaflet accompanying the packaging. If this is the reason for his pains, he must stay off the medication because it can cause serious damage to muslces.
Avatar f tn Headache is not an uncommon side affect of Lipitor. Other reported side affects include muscle aches, tenderness and weakness. These symptoms are particularly concerning when they accompany fevers. The reported frequency of various side affects are as follows: Headache -- reported in up to 16.7 percent of people Muscle pain -- reported in up to 5.6 percent of people Diarrhea -- reported in up to 5.3 percent of people Joint pain -- reported in up to 5.
Avatar n tn Statin drugs are often associated with side effects including nausea, headaches, dizziness, sleep disturbances, sexual dysfunction, fatigue, shortness of breath, memory loss, liver problems, muscle weakness, muscle pain, peripheral neuropathy and cardiomyopathy due to a depletion of Coenzyme Q10. Thirteen liver failure cases and nine deaths were linked with Lipitor. In response, the FDA has recommended the addition of warnings to statin package inserts about the possibility of liver failure.
10996785 tn?1432812977 With both meds, I went through a brief period of muscle pain (a few days maybe). With the Lipitor it was in the back of my upper legs. It went away and hasn't been an issue since. Be sure to let your doctor know what your experiencing, and consider asking about the possibility of a reduced dose.
Avatar n tn There are other drugs and each and every one has basically the same side effects BUT not all are always experienced by every person ... also many even though a factor, are not experienced to the same degree. You might take this up with your Oncology Team in detail. You should remember though that this may be totally unrelated to Arimidex or any other aromatase inhibitor. Regards ....
Avatar n tn What do you think this is? Do you think this could be a side effect of Lipito? Could Lipitor had damaged the muscles around the occipital nerve? Or could lipitor had damaged the occipital nerve?
