in july i had to have a deep clean, i told the dentist i was 7 weeks pregnant and she gave me lidocaine with adrenaline....it didn't work..i felt every thing and ran out the dentist in tears...just over a week later i miscarried my baby...at first i didn't think of the anaesthetic i was given..it wasn't until about a month later after i had grieved that i researched it and i found out that lidocaine can cause organ failure in the foetus in early pregnancy!!

I have had this type of pain almost constantly for over a year following pressure trauma and subsequent anaerobic sinus infection while doing marine research involving intensive SCUBA diving. I had the lidocaine block as a diagnostic test to indicate that I was a good candidate for sinus surgery, and would not recommend it as a long-term treatment or solution.
I'm 6 weeks pregnant, and believed I pulled a muscle in my mid back it hurts like crazy and can't take anything, any suggestions on how to relieve this pain.
my co-worker gave me a new 10ml bottle of lidocaine, he uses it to give himself stitches. advice as to where to put the needle (i got from cvs insulin 31g-8mm),what to expect ie: will it burn- how long b4 its numb, and if i split the nail will it grow back? any advice will help..
If the wisdom tooth is already through they can most likely take it out! They only need the anesthesia for the teeth that haven't yet broken through! If they can't take it out I'm sure they could prescribe liquid lidocaine, idk if it's safe or not, but you don't swallow it so I don't see why not. But Tylenol and maybe sucking on ice might help sort of numb it.
Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
In a simple dental procedure, I had what I can only describe as a seizure after getting what was supposed to be lidocaine and epinephrine injection. The area never got numb, and the pain from the point of the needle each time they attempted to inject me was painful. I was taken to the ER and released after 8 hours with no explanation.
I read that lidocaine can cause a seizure. I have had injections many times with no problem. What could have gone wrong?
After the lauging gas and in the process of receiving 2.0cc of 2% lidocaine(she weighs approx. 45 pounds), she had an immediate seizure. According to the dental notes, her oxygen saturation were never under 97% and she took approx. 1 1/2 hours to become coherent. She essentially slept through the ER visit (2 hours). The ER doctor said that the seizure was caused by the lidocaine(no MRI or CAT) and she has had no discernable after effects.

2 nights ago I was wiping after urinating & had such severe pain I jumped & trembled. I felt the area and on the inside of the labia majora I had a bright red nodule the size of a pea. I got a mirror & looked and lightly felt it. It was solid & movable under the skin but the pain was insane. It woke me up twice & I ended up putting the topical lidocaine for my chemo port just to get some rest. Well, this morning it hurt even worse, any movement & instant pain.
Look at the ingredients on the bottle. Benzocaine is mostly made up of lidocaine -a numbing agent in no way related to cocaine. You are more likely to test positive for THC (pot) from using motrin.
I am a 25 year old female and I had a seizure while having dental work done about 3 weeks ago. I had been given lidocaine and nitrous oxide. Following the appointment, I went to a neurologist and had a CT scan and an MRI done. Both showed no brain abnormalities. I had eclampsia 4 years ago and had seizures which resulted in the early delivery of my child. Aside from my seizures 4 years ago, I had no previous history of seizure disorder.
I had 1 root canal while pregnant. I got normal numbing meds. You just can't have certain ones in certain weeks of pregnancy. But I'm sure the well schedule around that.
