Lidocaine rectal

Common Questions and Answers about Lidocaine rectal

lidoderm

Avatar f tn There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
Avatar n tn Have had rectal pain for 2 months, thought it was hemorrhoids, GI and family doctors said it wasn't and didn't know what it was from for sure. Said to see a pain management doctor thinking it is a nerve in my recturm? However, I am confused as to what the pain management dr would do since no definite diagnosis. I tried everything over the counter including lidocaine with no relief. The pain is constant and only relief is when I sleep. Worried!!!
1986030 tn?1327535359 Many people treating with Incivek on this forum have had this side effect. My husband started having anal rectal pain (burning and felt like shards of glass passing through according to him). This lasted from about week 3 to about week 13 for him. Others on the forum have reported that it didn't last as long or didn't include rectal bleeding for them. In my journal, I have posted some tips that people on the forum have posted over the past few months: http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn Went back again that same night to the ER and again, nothing was done. Went back a third time and they did a rectal exam and diagnosed me with fecal impaction. They numbed me lidocaine for the mouth up my butt and tried a enema. Didn't work. Sent me home. I came home and ended up having a seizure from pushing so hard to go. Went back to outpatient ER by ambulance and they numbed me again with lidocaine and got about a quarter of a cup of seeds out by manual disimpaction. That hurt so bad!!!
Avatar n tn My basic question is do my symptoms suggest Pudendal Nerve Entrapment? And is it rare that I started experiencing rectal pain approximately 6-8 months *after* Allodynia struck my body?
Avatar f tn I treated them with suppositories, prep h, and used the lidocaine cream they have too because it was unbearable at times. I treated for 3 weeks. I went to my student health center and pcp who both agreed the external one was too large to treat and I have an appointment with a gi doctor to talk about possible removal. Last week there was an sti walk in clinic and I got tested and came back positive for gonorrhea. They treated was a shot of antibiotics and also four pills.
Avatar n tn physician assistant did digital rectal exam. no hemmrhoids, no bleeding when tested. gave me lidocaine 3% 0.5% hydrocortisone cream. started last night 1st of 20 applications. during night sleeping I felt a slight pin head or smaller like under the skin outside of anus around 4 o'clock position. It feels like a sharp like cartiliage like projection. when sitting on it is when it itches. I think the friction is causing the itching.
Avatar m tn I developed some small external hemorrhoids within just 2-3 days of starting incivek. About the 4th day I developed severe (internal) rectal pain every single time I passed stools, even when they were soft, which they always were after starting the medications. The best description of the pain is that I felt like I was passing shards of glass (and that is NOT an exaggeration). I would break out in a cold sweat from the pain and I thought I would pass out. My doctor prescribed 3% lidocaine/0.
Avatar f tn Yea sounds like hemmorhoids. You can use some tuck pads after each time you use the restroom to relieve the pain and itching (if there's any) and take some stool softener daily and don't strain when you go.
Avatar n tn I had tried Aquaphore (sp?) on my rectal area before I started to break out because I thought it was hemerroids. Can anyone suggest anything to help me? I'm going through tubes of Lanacane so fast, and I don't feel that the Valtrex is working. I have to sit at a desk all day and am a single Mom so I can't chill out in loose pants all day at home like I'd like to! I'm new to this so ANY advice would be GREAT!
Avatar m tn t know what position I will be in, on top of that I guess there is a rectal catheter as well. I am 48 y/o and the thing just drives me nuts. Can anyone shed some light on what will happen tomorrow. I thought that I was doing well but now that it is tomorrow I just need to know. I am a mans man some of this just doesn't feel right. On the other hand my wife says to stop being a wimp. So am I?
Avatar n tn I have spoken to many men with IC, and the most of the treatments used can help men as well as women. I believe instead of vaginal suppositories, they use rectal ones since like vaginally for women as well as rectally for me puts the meds right near the bladder muscle however the dosages are often adjusted since a greater amount of medication goes into your blood stream rectally. Heat as well as ice are also used for men or women. (Whether warm baths or using ice packs etc. BY the way Dr.
1749655 tn?1321800934 , hemorrhoids, anorectal discomfort, anal pruritus, and rectal burning) were mild to moderate in severity; less than 1% led to treatment discontinuation and all resolved during or after completion of INCIVEK dosing.
Avatar m tn He put things like Vaseline, Desitin or lidocaine on the area to protect the skin and reduce the pain. He also took 1 Loperimide per day for awhile, which prevented diarrhea as that made the problem worse.
Avatar m tn I had severe rectal spasms that started in June 2010 and lasted for almost 3 months. Pain occurred immediately after a bowel movement and was so severe that I could not even stand up for 15 to 20 minutes after the BM. I was diagnosed over 30 years ago as having an "fissure" in my rectum. For over 30 years I have had bleeding and hemorrhoids, about 2 times per year, for 2 or 3 weeks at a time, but never had the rectal spasms until 2010.

Avatar n tn The American Urological Association (AUA) seems numb (pun intended) to the anesthetic options for the barbaric intra-rectal prostate biopsy. Reading about sedative alternatives to the excruciating pain of gun-fired biopsy infuriates me as a patient: No one discussed this possibility with me before my (NO ANESTHESIA) multiple sample procedure yesterday!
Avatar n tn Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
383138 tn?1314167773 wants to do a lidocaine IV infusion, he says IV infusion of lidocaine is different than the dental injection. My cardiologist says I can't have lidocaine at all, due to my past severe heart reaction to it, but my pain dr. thinks it will be OK and has scheduled me for infusion for pain relief for this Friday. I dont know what to do, so any info on the lidocaine and any contraidictions with heart arrhythmias would be helpful. Thankyou.
Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear that you are one of the people with the severe inner rectal pain. I had this problem so I know it well. I felt like I was passing shards of glass. It took me a bit to figure out a way to pretty much prevent it. When it first started I was afraid to take too much Loperimide for fear of getting constipated. However, what I eventually discovered was that I had to keep the stools firm, not hard like a rock, but quite firm, solid.
Avatar m tn In a simple dental procedure, I had what I can only describe as a seizure after getting what was supposed to be lidocaine and epinephrine injection. The area never got numb, and the pain from the point of the needle each time they attempted to inject me was painful. I was taken to the ER and released after 8 hours with no explanation. I read that lidocaine can cause a seizure. I have had injections many times with no problem. What could have gone wrong?
306455 tn?1288862071 lotsatrout...good idea...you ought to get a patent....lidocaine suit...i like that!!! ...My educated guess says it is not addictive!!!...and we know where my educated guesses have gotten me before!!!
Avatar f tn It probably isn't the lidocaine, it's the epinephrine that is in the lidocaine. You can ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine, I have had tons of dental work and always ask for that. Dentist doesn't mind at all and I've never had any problems. It doesn't last as long but if you start to feel anything while they are working the dentist will just give you more. I have done fine with it.
