Common Questions and Answers about Lidocaine in intubation

lidoderm

Avatar n tn If a 1, 2, or 3 snip procedure fails, does it in anyway interfere with a future dilation and intubation? How does a dilation and intubation differ from a DCR?
Avatar n tn My question is, taking into consideration all these medications and the fact that I can sometimes taste the lidocaine or marcaine with an in office instillation, is there any chance these medications could have contributed to the neuralgia? I need to know if there could be any type of an attack again with this procedure? Thank you for your help.
Avatar f tn In many cities paramedics are trained in this procedure and can perform it on the street. In the case of a serious asthmatic attack it enables the patient to be "force fed" air to open up the most congested and restricted passageways. There are no afteraffects from being intubated. One a tube is in place it is "slightly uncomfortable", but not intolerable. There is no pain associated with the procedure.
511091 tn?1211149660 I recently had a colonoscopy done in a hospital, and when the anesthesiologist found out I had sleep apnea, he insisted on intubating me. He was very rude about it, and I explained that I've had 2 colonoscopies done in the past and wasn't intubated for either of them. I woke up OK, but I was so scared I was going to be awake when they put the tube in or took it out. He told me he didn't want me to desaturate during the procedure.

Avatar f tn For nearly two years I have had experienced severe to chronic pain in my right eye. Over the past two years, I have seen 4 doctors, including opthamologists, optometrists, and I am currently seeing a neuro-ophthalmologist. I have had a multitude of tests including 2 MRI's. Recently I have been experiencing floaters when I have the pain. The pain is becoming more frequent and more severe. At times I also experience a sharp line of pain straight through my brain.
Avatar f tn I had a follow-up PM appointment today. I haven't seen her in a couple of months. We stopped my Cymbalta about a month ago and it made a HUGE difference in how I feel mentally and emotionally. Apparently that wasn't the drug for me, and it makes no difference in my pain, which was the point of going on it to begin with. I had a terrible fibromyalgia flare-up before Thanksgiving. The worst in a long time. To the point I had to crawl up the stairs and go down on my bum.
Avatar m tn only 1/4 inch came out so a good 1/2 inch is still in there i can see it thru the nail. Has anyone here used it before? And did it help? I tried to use it last night but it wouldnt stick to my neck.
Avatar f tn Hi I see you had your thyroidectomy in March this year. Normally the hoarseness is pretty much gone after the first or second week. You may find that even your vocal chords were actually bruised around a bit with the intubation tube. This can take a little longer to heal than an easy intubation. Grazing can happen for many reasons. The vocal chords are too far down the throat to be able to have a drink or food to help them.
Avatar f tn My daughter now 17.5 has been in severe pain for 4 years (as of 8/18). One day we were playing tennis, next day could not get out of bed and since has not been able to walk at all. They cannot see what's wrong on MRI, long story there, but now in MA the docs are going to give her lidocaine infusions and started her on nortriptyline 10 mg with increasing doses.
Avatar f tn It is especially bothersome at night - I try to sleep lying down and sometimes can then other nights I sleep upright in a recliner. Some days my voice is strong, almost normal and others it goes right back to being weak. What is a normal recup time from a trach? Does this sound normal? I had a procedure to check for any windpipe abnormalies but none were found other than 'swollen tissue' around the vocal chords.
Avatar n tn Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
Avatar m tn Getting lidocaine for wisdom tooth extraction--felt the needle going in and woke up 45 minutes later in ER. I had had a seizure! Hundreds of shots for teeth over the years, never any such experience. Surgeon swore he found no blood in syringe and couldn't understand why I seized. Swore he did everything right, never heard of lidocaine causing a seizure this way. Apologized profusely. I'm now worried about completing the extraction, which has to be done.
Avatar m tn Can it be that your girl friend has used lidocaine ointment for pain in vagina? Lidocaine can affect your glans, causing you feeling of numbness. I hope some one come out with appropriate answer to solve your problem. This is a delicate question. Did anyone else experience similar problem with her. I understand that this quite a delicate question. However, if you have continue relationship, you might have to ask frank question. It is again intruquing Sp?
Avatar f tn Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
Avatar n tn My name is Aaron Dickerson and I am writing to you in the hopes that you can give my wife and I some guidance on which direction we should go. Evonne, my wife, recently had surgery on her left shoulder to have some calcification removed from the socket. The surgery was on April 8th. The procedure was performed at Naval Hospital Oak Harbor as a same day procedure. Immediately following the surgery, she lost complete control of the right side of her tongue.
Avatar m tn If you feel like the test was in error, you could always try to get retested and note your lidocaine usage.
Avatar f tn I have had bad reactions to regular novocaine in the past, prior to my SVT diagnosis in 2001, so he has given me lidocaine since then. For the past ten years prior to my ablation in April 2011, I was on beta blockers (atenolol) so there were no issues. I was taken off beta blockers 3 weeks after my ablation. Have had dental work requiring lidocaine since then, with no issues until now. While he was injecting the second shot of novocaine, an SVT episode suddenly triggered.
306455 tn?1288862071 lotsatrout...good idea...you ought to get a patent....lidocaine suit...i like that!!! ...My educated guess says it is not addictive!!!...and we know where my educated guesses have gotten me before!!!
Avatar m tn Hi, six months after my left-side thoracotomy I was yesterday told by my surgeon (USA) that I need to get Lidocaine intercostal nerve-block injections for a persistent pain issue I'm having. Here in my country, Cyprus, though, it's impossible to find someone who has experience in injecting Lidocaine on the thorax. So, my second option is UK, but still I would need to find someone specialized on this type of nerve-block. Any recommendations?
Avatar f tn Look at the ingredients on the bottle. Benzocaine is mostly made up of lidocaine -a numbing agent in no way related to cocaine. You are more likely to test positive for THC (pot) from using motrin.
