I might note, there I times over the years that I've had bladder instillations in the office that have caused my chin or tongue to have a slight numbness or taste to it, but this is not always the case nor have I had neuralgia due to this.
Avatar n tn From easiest to hardest: Dilation, one snip procedure, dilation and intubation, last resort Jones tubes. None of the first three leave any scars.
Avatar f tn My dentist gives me my shot and see another patient, by the time he got back to me I was fully numb. and the numbness last for 8 - 12 hours. I am highly allergic to lidocaine it puts me into anaphylactic shock, I have an epipen but sa that I don't have to use that I just make sure everyone is doing their job and I always wear my medic alert bracelet.
Avatar f tn Intubation is a procedure where a plastic tube is slipped into the trachea, down a ways, and a cuff is inflated to maintain a patent airway. It is a harmless procedure, the biggest complication being chipping a tooth from the blade used to guide the tube. In many cities paramedics are trained in this procedure and can perform it on the street. In the case of a serious asthmatic attack it enables the patient to be "force fed" air to open up the most congested and restricted passageways.
511091 tn?1211149660 I recently had a colonoscopy done in a hospital, and when the anesthesiologist found out I had sleep apnea, he insisted on intubating me. He was very rude about it, and I explained that I've had 2 colonoscopies done in the past and wasn't intubated for either of them. I woke up OK, but I was so scared I was going to be awake when they put the tube in or took it out. He told me he didn't want me to desaturate during the procedure.
Avatar f tn So I have really bad vaginismus to the point where intercourse can only be done with a lot of lidocaine and with the help of dilators. I am 15 weeks pregnant and concerned about delivery. Will my vaginismus prevent me from vaginal delivery? Is anyone else dealing with or has dealt with this??

Avatar f tn ve had quite a few stellate ganglion blocks and have had some success. They thought the lidocaine infusion might help the other pain I deal with and kill two (or more) birds at the same time so to speak. KittKat23-78, Sorry the infusion didn't help you!! I hadn't heard about having several a few days apart; I'll have to ask about it. Mine is (at least one) being paid for by worker's comp. I'm hopeful but also trying to keep things realistic and in perspective.

Avatar m tn left pointer finger, at work i stuck a cedar sliver under the nail past the start point of the nail. I attempted to pull it out and it broke off. only 1/4 inch came out so a good 1/2 inch is still in there i can see it thru the nail. I attempted to cut and split the nail with razor blade but once i got part way thru nail it hurt bad. my co-worker gave me a new 10ml bottle of lidocaine, he uses it to give himself stitches.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever been prescribed this for genital outbreaks or PHN? My doctor did for PHN. I just tried it for the first time it hurt to apply and doesn't feel the most pleasant now. Has anyone ever used this and what was your experience?
Avatar f tn You could try this trick, which apparently works well for singers who have a bit of a hoarse voice, fill a basin or large bowl with steaming hot (Not boiling!!!!!!) water and put a towel over your head and the bowl.....breathe in the steam with a relaxed open mouth and then out through the nose. The warm moist air then passes over the vocal chords and helps to lubricate them. If the hoarseness continues more than 6 weeks, it would be best to see the doctor again.
Avatar f tn App 10 days ago ( a week after trach removal) I began o experience brathing problems and immediately went to my ENT here in my home town. He could not see below the voacl chords without re-trach and going in to view y windpipe. I immediately went to Atlanta (Emory) where the equipment was available to view below the chords without a trach. At that time the only findings were - granulation which was normal and to be expected) and swelling of tissue around the vocal chords.
383138 tn?1314167773 But since I had such severe heart reaction to just a shot of lidocaine at dentist in the past, the cardiologist said I am lucky I didnt go into cardiac arrest at that time and if they put lidocaine in me again he said my heart may suddenly fail (sudden cardiac arrest) and it may not be able to recover next time. And the warnings on lidocaine (even for people w/out heart problems) are such things as: rare but possible arrhythmias and cardiac arrest.
Avatar n tn I am a 25 year old female and I had a seizure while having dental work done about 3 weeks ago. I had been given lidocaine and nitrous oxide. Following the appointment, I went to a neurologist and had a CT scan and an MRI done. Both showed no brain abnormalities. I had eclampsia 4 years ago and had seizures which resulted in the early delivery of my child. Aside from my seizures 4 years ago, I had no previous history of seizure disorder.
Avatar n tn I would feel a whole lot better without using any anesthetic during the procedure since I had a terrible experience back in 1989 when I was given a skin test for Lidocaine and Meprivacaine? both WITHOUT EPINEPHRINE,YES,WITHOUT EPINEPHRINE and I made sure of that before the skin test. They had to discontinue the Lidocaine because of heart side effects. But they finished with the other one and they thought that everything was fine and sent me home..The next day,BOOM! they hit with a vengence..P.
Avatar n tn Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.

Avatar f tn A few years ago my mom was diagnosed with vaginal and rectal cancer in the end the doctor prescribed her lidocaine 2% jelly for painful intercourse and bowel movements. Would it be safe to use it during anal sex? I have used it before after the birth of my daughter and it worked wonders. I would like an idea on it before I did use it.
Avatar m tn In a simple dental procedure, I had what I can only describe as a seizure after getting what was supposed to be lidocaine and epinephrine injection. The area never got numb, and the pain from the point of the needle each time they attempted to inject me was painful. I was taken to the ER and released after 8 hours with no explanation. I read that lidocaine can cause a seizure. I have had injections many times with no problem. What could have gone wrong?
Avatar n tn So I am going to post an email my husband and I sent to a Neurologist but have not received anything from him. I am scheduled for emg and other test soon but this is really getting to me. I was wondering if anyone can let me know if this could be perminent. This is lasting a long time and I am hoping it goes away soon. My name is Aaron Dickerson and I am writing to you in the hopes that you can give my wife and I some guidance on which direction we should go.
1425608 tn?1320894142 He said I probably have IC and pedundal neuropathy, and before I knew what was going on, the doc jammed a straight catheter into my urethra and injected a mixture of heparin and lidocaine into my bladder. He said it would help ease/numb the pain and wants me to come back once a week for 6 weeks to have this done.
Avatar f tn He has not been reacting well from the Chemo and gets infections and or problems each time. The last bout he had trouble breathing and her was diagnosed with RSV. They ended up intubating him and sedating him. This went on over 2 weeks until the infections went away. It has been almost a week, and he is still in an almost catatonic state. He was of sound mind prior to this and now he just stares.
306455 tn?1288862071 Has anyone other than me heard of lidocaine patches and are they addictive? I used them for a couple of years for my knee and back and they worked great. But I never thought about the possiblity of addiction and can't find any info if they are.
