I might note, there I times over the years that I've had bladder instillations in the office that have caused my chin or tongue to have a slight numbness or taste to it, but this is not always the case nor have I had neuralgia due to this.
From easiest to hardest: Dilation, one snip procedure, dilation and intubation, last resort Jones tubes. None of the first three leave any scars.
My dentist gives me my shot and see another patient, by the time he got back to me I was fully numb. and the numbness last for 8 - 12 hours. I am highly allergic to lidocaine it puts me into anaphylactic shock, I have an epipen but sa that I don't have to use that I just make sure everyone is doing their job and I always wear my medic alert bracelet.

It is a harmless procedure, the biggest complication being chipping a tooth from the blade used to guide the tube. In many cities paramedics are trained in this procedure and can perform it on the street. In the case of a serious asthmatic attack it enables the patient to be "force fed" air to open up the most congested and restricted passageways.
ve had quite a few stellate ganglion blocks and have had some success. They thought the lidocaine infusion might help the other pain I deal with and kill two (or more) birds at the same time so to speak.
KittKat23-78, Sorry the infusion didn't help you!! I hadn't heard about having several a few days apart; I'll have to ask about it. Mine is (at least one) being paid for by worker's comp. I'm hopeful but also trying to keep things realistic and in perspective.
left pointer finger, at work i stuck a cedar sliver under the nail past the start point of the nail. I attempted to pull it out and it broke off. only 1/4 inch came out so a good 1/2 inch is still in there i can see it thru the nail. I attempted to cut and split the nail with razor blade but once i got part way thru nail it hurt bad. my co-worker gave me a new 10ml bottle of lidocaine, he uses it to give himself stitches.
Has anyone ever been prescribed this for genital outbreaks or PHN? My doctor did for PHN. I just tried it for the first time it hurt to apply and doesn't feel the most pleasant now. Has anyone ever used this and what was your experience?
You could try this trick, which apparently works well for singers who have a bit of a hoarse voice, fill a basin or large bowl with steaming hot (Not boiling!!!!!!) water and put a towel over your head and the bowl.....breathe in the steam with a relaxed open mouth and then out through the nose. The warm moist air then passes over the vocal chords and helps to lubricate them.
If the hoarseness continues more than 6 weeks, it would be best to see the doctor again.
App 10 days ago ( a week after trach removal) I began o experience brathing problems and immediately went to my ENT here in my home town. He could not see below the voacl chords without re-trach and going in to view y windpipe. I immediately went to Atlanta (Emory) where the equipment was available to view below the chords without a trach. At that time the only findings were - granulation which was normal and to be expected) and swelling of tissue around the vocal chords.
I am a 25 year old female and I had a seizure while having dental work done about 3 weeks ago. I had been given lidocaine and nitrous oxide. Following the appointment, I went to a neurologist and had a CT scan and an MRI done. Both showed no brain abnormalities. I had eclampsia 4 years ago and had seizures which resulted in the early delivery of my child. Aside from my seizures 4 years ago, I had no previous history of seizure disorder.
I would feel a whole lot better without using any anesthetic during the procedure since I had a terrible experience back in 1989 when I was given a skin test for Lidocaine and Meprivacaine? both WITHOUT EPINEPHRINE,YES,WITHOUT EPINEPHRINE and I made sure of that before the skin test.They had to discontinue the Lidocaine because of heart side effects.But they finished with the other one and they thought that everything was fine and sent me home..The next day,BOOM! they hit with a vengence..P.
Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
I am 31 and have been diagnosed with RSD/CRPS and it is very painful and it all started with a football injury in High School. I am trying to see what other people with the same condition are receiving for treatment and it is working for them. I am currently on 40mg Oxycontin 3times a day and Oxycodone imm realease 30mg 3 times a day, Baclofen 10mg 4 times a day, tramadol 50mg 6 a day, Vitamins of all kinds, testosterone injection once a week, Naproxen 3times a day, Trazadone 150mg at bedtime.
t find any scientific articles that specifically deal with positive test results of cocaine from the use of lidocaine (anesthetic) but it is mentioned a few times. Readmitted to ITU for drainage of lung then deteriorated with respiratory failure, AKI,hypertension and intubation WAs treated for Enterobacter infection from ETT, later I developed parotitis and was treated with Antibiotics, this was 10 months ago, and still feeling not perfect, now 75. A few years ago my mom was diagnosed with vaginal and rectal cancer in the end the doctor prescribed her lidocaine 2% jelly for painful intercourse and bowel movements. Would it be safe to use it during anal sex? I have used it before after the birth of my daughter and it worked wonders. I would like an idea on it before I did use it.
In a simple dental procedure, I had what I can only describe as a seizure after getting what was supposed to be lidocaine and epinephrine injection. The area never got numb, and the pain from the point of the needle each time they attempted to inject me was painful. I was taken to the ER and released after 8 hours with no explanation.
I read that lidocaine can cause a seizure. I have had injections many times with no problem. What could have gone wrong?

He has not been reacting well from the Chemo and gets infections and or problems each time. The last bout he had trouble breathing and her was diagnosed with RSV. They ended up intubating him and sedating him. This went on over 2 weeks until the infections went away. It has been almost a week, and he is still in an almost catatonic state. He was of sound mind prior to this and now he just stares.
