Just as the doctor left the room after shooting him up with the novacaine on both sides of his mouth top and bottom he went unconsious and had a seizure. The doctor stated it was because he fasted and was nervous. He has never had a seizure before but it was deffinately not just passing out. What should I watch for as future side effects of this treatment?
ok anyways that was oct 5 but on oct 1 i had had a tooth filled and novacaine was used and today im supposed to get another tooth filled, anyways im wondering if there is or could be a connection between the dental appointment and that er visit like maybe the novacaine was still in my system and caused the hhr of 240.Im near panic and i dont think im going to get the tooth filled untill i get more information because for SURE i dont want another trip to the er in a few days.
My brother has back problems and is going to the doctor's office and now taking shots in his back. He says that he thinks that the shots have cocaine in it. Would that be possible that they would do that?
No u will be fine im a dental hygienist lots of girls get teeth pulled ur baby is formed u will be fine I promise its risky if u were in first trimester... and if u keep.tooth u can get infection and worst the pain it gives u...
After the second visit, at about the time the novacaine numbness wore off 5 hours or so later, he got a tremor in his left arm and hand, then later his right leg was affected as well. This continued for 3 days before ending.
Can you please tell me what type of doctor to follow up with to find out what is going on and prevent a possible worse reaction if he should get novacaine again.
I had a pacemaker put in November 2010. It was the most horrifying experience I have ever gone through as the lidocaine had absolutely no effect and versed does not work on me so I had full feeling of surgery from the initial incision to the creation of the pocket into my muscle and placement of the pacemaker. My heart rate and blood pressure had been dropping to critical levels. A BP of 60/40 at night and a heart rate in the low to mid thirties was commonplace.

then I had the rest pulled 2 weeks after my c-section, again with just novacaine and a little valium to semi sedate me. I had 27 shots of novacaine that time. I had to get false teeth and after I got them is when my wisdom teeth started coming in one by one. So over the next 3-4 years I had them removed as they started coming in, but I had to have the cut out before they came in completely otherwise they got in the way of my new teeth.
I would not blame this on the MS, per se. Dentists try to "block" the 1st and 2nd branch of the trigeminal nerve. The 1st branch is the jaw and the second is the upper teeth. The third branch is the upper face and the surface of the eye. If they get a "good" block, it is possible to numb up half the face in one shot.
My dentist gives me my shot and see another patient, by the time he got back to me I was fully numb. and the numbness last for 8 - 12 hours. I am highly allergic to lidocaine it puts me into anaphylactic shock, I have an epipen but sa that I don't have to use that I just make sure everyone is doing their job and I always wear my medic alert bracelet.
My right ear and right side of my neck are numb. Not completely but like a shot of novacaine. I have had a cold recently but I have never has this happen! What could this be from?
Because I had expressed concern about my Novacaine sensitivity the radiologist was great about injecting a minute amount of the local they use (I think Lidocaine if I remember correctly) and waited 5 minutes for any reaction before injecting the rest. I really never felt but a very slight ***** for the first injection and nothing for the balance of the local. The tech was gracious and turned the ultrasound monitor so I could watch.
It sounds like nerve damage. Or, a prolonged allergic reaction to the Novacaine.
Are saying it's only been 3 weeks since your last period? You could still take a pregnancy test and it could give you an accurate result. Just use a First Response Early Response and make sure you take it with first morning urine. Even if it comes out negative right now, make sure to tell your dentist that you might be pregnant. If they aren't doing general anasthesia there shouldn't be a problem. Novacaine is ok during pregnancy.
This was day after I had a filling at the dentist with lidocaine/novacaine. Went to ENT on emergency basis, and he called it neurosensorihearing loss or sudden hearing loss with no explanation. Put on Valtrex and Prednisone against my feelings about how bad these drugs are for you but I was at their mercy. He said only 50/50 chance it would come back. My question is this: if everything I read so far says 98% of people do not recover their hearing, why is there a rush to get treatment at all?
I'm sorry to hear of your poor experiance with the FNA. Theie not pleasant but I underwent two FNA's as part of the process to determine course of treatment I was sore but nothing like you described. Personally, it sounds like your doctor needed to be patience and let the lidocaine do it's job and as well as learn a softer touch. I pray you don't have to go through it again but if it's recommended find a differant doctor.
ve had quite a few stellate ganglion blocks and have had some success. They thought the lidocaine infusion might help the other pain I deal with and kill two (or more) birds at the same time so to speak.
KittKat23-78, Sorry the infusion didn't help you!! I hadn't heard about having several a few days apart; I'll have to ask about it. Mine is (at least one) being paid for by worker's comp. I'm hopeful but also trying to keep things realistic and in perspective.
If they are just going to do novacaine for the procedure and give you antibiotics to prevent infection it SHOULD be ok. I had 8 teeth pulled 2 weeks before I delivered my first pregnancy. I also had a wisdom tooth cut out at 8 months with my 3rd pregnancy. Just be sure to discuss it with your doctor and make sure you don't have any risk factors that would prevent it.
left pointer finger, at work i stuck a cedar sliver under the nail past the start point of the nail. I attempted to pull it out and it broke off. only 1/4 inch came out so a good 1/2 inch is still in there i can see it thru the nail. I attempted to cut and split the nail with razor blade but once i got part way thru nail it hurt bad. my co-worker gave me a new 10ml bottle of lidocaine, he uses it to give himself stitches.
