Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro for tension headaches

lexapro

Avatar f tn For the past few month I’ve had debilitating anxiety. I’ve always had headaches but recently I’ve had weird sensations like a twitch in my head and neck. It’s freaking me out. Could this be just tension due to anxiety? I also get jolts/twitches in my back, legs and arms. Someone tell me this is all anxiety and that I’m not crazy. Currently on my 2nd day of upping to 20mg of Lexapro.
Avatar f tn I am prescribed Fioricet (50/325/40) for tension headaches. I am taking 6 a day (2 every 4 to 6 hours) and was wondering if taking this medication that frequently can lead to physical dependence. I am taking it as prescribed and have constant headaches (I have had jaw reconstruction surgery, have extensive nerve damage and also suffer from bruxism...) but am scared to become physically addicted to the medication.
Avatar m tn since all your investigations are coming postive and no obvious etiology is detected, it is easier to understand that, the symptoms are showing are due to migraine headaches. Other causes could be stress headache, cluster headaches and a tension headache. Consult your neurologist for the needful. Take care.
Avatar f tn has anyone had such bad tension headaches that it makes your eyes droop on one side and feels like you have pain in your ears....
Avatar f tn He said that was included in the blood testing -everything was. Zero allergies. Makes sense because there are times pollen will coat the cars here and I won't have any reaction at all, unlike most everyone else (I hardly even react to red tide). My ENT is my stepfather so I know he doesn't BS me haha. He put me on a low dose of prednisone for 2 weeks for a very slight inflammation in my left sinus. Hopefully it'll help! He reviewed the CT again and saw it.
Avatar f tn I am into my 3rd week of topamax and I am still having bad headaches. My nuero started me at 1 every night for the first week, then 2 every night for the 2nd week, then 3 every night for the 3rd week he was hoping that would get everything under control and we could wing me off of it so I wouldnt be dependent because he says i suffer from tension migraines and just regular headache migraines. WELL ITS NOT WORKING!! my head still hurts!!! how long does it take to work?
Avatar n tn I went to a nuerologist who put me on topamax, I take 100mg twice a day, for about 1 month now. I also suffer from depression for about 20 yrs. I have been taking lexapro for about a year. The Dr. feels the lexapro isnt helping my headaches. The topamax took some of the pressure of but I still suffer, he added vivactyl which i thought was a migraine medication until I looked it up and found out it was a antidepressant.
Avatar n tn s neurologist said aerobic exercise is better than yoga for tension headaches. But my daughter never feels well enough for aerobic exercise.
1042487 tn?1275279899 The 5-HTP is doing a better job than the Cymbalta for my tension headaches and general well being. Oh and my brain zaps are over since today! I'm so happy! I only had like a minor brain zap today and it was more like a 1 second dizzy spell. I don't need Omega-3 supplements for now since i'm not only eating sardines as a source of Omega-3 but i said other various source like soy milk, biologic organic cereals with omega-3, fruit juice supplemented with Omega-3 from oasis.
Avatar f tn I was on Lexapro and experience head aches everyday, towards the end of the day, they were in the back of my neck and run all the way up the back of my head, to the front, they were horrible. I have begun weaning myself off of Lexapro for this reason mainly, and the headaches are pretty much gone.
Avatar m tn Headaches can be caused by a variety of reasons often categorized into primary headaches, secondary headaches, and cranial neuralgias. The primary headaches include tension headache, migraine cluster headaches and similar pathologies. Secondary causes can be due to sinusitis eye problems, etc and the cranial neuralgias that include the trigeminal neuralgias. Without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to differentiate between these or suggest specific management.
Avatar f tn The commonest type of headaches are the tension headaches. The others are migrainous headaches and those caused due to brain disorders, disorders of the eyes , neck or ears to name a few. Tension headaches are relieved by pain killers Take OTC naproxen for relief from pain. Ensure to take the medicine after food. Alcohol, smoking, altered sleep patterns and missed meals can cause tension headaches.
Avatar f tn Thinking about trying Lexapro for generalized anxiety. Any advice or experiences? I have previously tried Buspar (had no effect) and Zoloft which made me constantly nauseous.
Avatar f tn been taking alprazolam ( generic for xanax) for about 4 years....for the last several months, anxiety has gotten worse, and very depressed...dr. gave me choice of changing to klonopin or adding selexa to my alprazolam.....anybody have any advice on which would be better....
Avatar m tn Some days it is almost impossible to get out of bed because of all these symptoms. I was on lexapro for about 5-6 weeks since docs assumed these symptoms were due to stress/anxiety and it did not help at all so I am slowly tapering off each week dropping my dose a bit until I should be completely off the lexapro in the next week. I have been to an infectious disease doc, endocrinologist, rhematologist, cardiologist for tons of blood work and tests and everything has come back normal.
Avatar n tn For 5 months now i have been suffering with headaches on the top of my head, allways in the same area,i have no problems with vision..The headache started very badly one morning and i vomited 15 times in 3 hours,i had to rush to the doctors to get a pain killing injection..Since this episode i have moderate headaches everyday, if the pain increases the nausea starts.does anybody have any idea what could be causing this?i am now being sent to a nerologist.
Avatar m tn Hi, The headaches may be tension headaches. They may result from anxiety or tension. But occipital headaches must be investigated. They may result from a growth or tumour at the back of the brain. Please go for CT scan or MRI of the brain and consult a neurologist for diagnosis and treatment. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!

1390615 tn?1299426291 I just was reading up on excedrin and pregnancy and the tension headache formula has no aspirin. That would probably be the safest. If your Dr said it was ok then I would take it, however if you don't feel comfortable then don't do it, and talk to him/her about it at your next visit.
Avatar n tn The thing about tension headaches is that the cause is not really well understood, and treatments are few. The thing that's always worked best for me is excedrin extra strength, which is aspirin, tylenol and caffeine. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/tension-headache/symptoms-causes/syc-20353977 Massage can also help, or anything that relieves stress and helps my muscles relax naturally. A scalp massage is the best thing on earth.
Avatar f tn Try a neck and shoulder massage. They help me since most continuous headaches are tension headaches and are caused from a sore stiff neck mainly from bad posture.
