I am on that combination and it works great. I was taking Lexapro 20 mg with Wellbutrin and was fine. How long have you been on Lexapro? My doc started me out slow with a week of 5 mg then 10 mg and so on. I know jumping into 20 mg for me was exhausting. Best of luck.
I would say yes, because wellbutrin is an antidepressant and klonopin is a benzo and they don't have any neg effect together usually and are often perscribed together, to be sure I would call an all night pharmacist or your local pharmacist, they can give you more professional advice, I do it all the time. JUst ask them if you can tak ethe two together and they can tell you if you need to look for or worry with side effects, but I would think it is fine.
Do your own research, but apparently you can take both together. I have taken Wellbutrin and my husband does for bipolar (him) and we did not gain wt. on it. It just did not work for me, so I switched to Lexapro. It helped me in less than a week. I have been on it for several years and actually lost wt. while on it. I was actively trying to lose wt. and had no problems doing it while taking the Lexapro.
Absolutely loved it but had sexual side effects and weight gain. Next Wellbutrin, did nothing for me. Next Effexor AND Wellbutrin. Slept 3 days straight on Effexor so had to go off of it. Now Celexa and Wellbutrin. Only day 4 but this one is giving me insomnia. Too soon to know if that will wear off and if it's working.
My question is, my Dr knows I am concerned about not gaining more weight.
no im on 10mg of lexapro and 300mg of wellbutrin xl. its the best combination that worked for me. and thats what its all about finding the best combination that works for you. it took me over a year to find that combination that worked for me.

m brand new to depression medication and just wondering what folks think about the combination of Lexapro and Wellbutrin. A lot of folks I know had bad problems with Wellbutrin, but really like Lexapro and right now I'm kinda just trying to power through side effects.
would not take lexapro and effexor together. for effexor withdrawal i take omega3 fish oil caps twice a day//benadryl as needed for dizzyness\\ b12 sublingualtwice a day\\st. johns wort twice a day// vitamin d3 twice a day ---ibuprofen(motrin) as needed for muscle pain. as far as i am concerned, i will never take a prescription rx. for anxiety and depression again. i also have ptsd. i am sticking to st. johns wort and omega 3 fish oil caps. both will treat depression.
Several years ago, I went on Lexapro 10mg and in therapy for about a year. I was on it for 5+ years and was doing great. I went off of Lexapro and did great for over a year. My anxiety started to creep back in periodically, but I worked through it. I was on the bc pill Aleese at the time I went off of Lexapro and still did ok, but I did get more anxiety around my period.
Wellbutrin (bupropion) and Lexapro can be taken together. There is no negative interaction. Strangely, the addition of Wellbutrin to Lexapro is said to reverse some of the latter's tendency to interfere with erection, libido, and orgasm in males (and Lexapro is BAD in this respect). The normal dose of Wellbutrin after titrating up from 150mg is 300mg, preferably in the XL (released gradually over time) form, and the Lexapro is normally one 10mg tab QD.
I was previously on Lexapro for anxiety / depression, but switched to Wellbutrin due low libido while on the Lexapro. I have now been taking 150mg of Wellbutrin XL for about three months, and have noticed no imprvement. If anything, my libido has diminished even more.
Since most people report a boost in sex drive with the Wellbutrin, I was wondering if I am just an atypical case, or if perhaps my dosage is not high enough to experience the improvement.

Hi I've been on wellbutrin for a few years but my doctor just added escitalopram (Lexapro ). I've been on it for five days now and I'm extremely tired I can't stay awake but can't sleep at night at all. I feel very weak and there was two days that I had tingling. Is this normal? Does the tiredness go away? I can't function like this.
Recently my Dr. recommended that I switch from Lexapro (called Lexamil where I live) to Wellbutrin to reduce unwanted side effects of Lexapro. I have been taking Lexapro for 5 years now (10 mg daily). She said to taper off of Lexapro in two weeks, first taking 1/2 a tablet each day to 1/2 a tablet every other day while introducing a tablet of Wellbutrin 150 mg. each day during this process.
My concern is that I have felt really dopy the last couple of weeks. Also, I would like to know if Lexapro and Wellbutrin are in the same family and if not, what is the difference. I noticed by researching that Wellbutrin does not state that it helps with anxiety as does Lexapro. Please help, I am really getting confused.
I have also been suffering from anxiety and depression and was on both Lexapro and Cymbalta for a little over 2 years. They helped at first, but after a little bit, there was no help from them. I gained about 40lbs in those 2 years and have been fiercely struggling to get it off. A week ago my new doctor told me that he wanted to start me on Wellbutrin XL. He didn't even have me wean off of the other 2, just stop taking those and start the Wellbutrin the next day.
For the last 2 weeks I have felt very dizzy, missed 3 days of work, went to the doctor, who said I have vertigo. Gave me an antihystamine. She said it's viral. I still feel the same. I have begun to wonder if the vertigo could be caused by withdrawal from Lexapro, which I've been on for years. I also experience mental "mud"--feeling confused and slow to get my thoughts together, as well as trouble remembering. What do you think?

For years I've been on 20 mg Lexapro. I never had ED, but it often took me a long time to climax during sex. My doctor and I decided to try switching to Wellbutrin (mostly because we thought it might help improve motivation). I'm still in the process of switching over -- cutdown from 20mg Lexapro to 10mg, and I'm now on 200mg Wellbutrin taken twice a day (400 mg total). The depression symptoms are handled fine and I think there is increased motivation.
After taking Wellbutrin 150mg 2x daily and my Zoloft 100mg together fro the first time I woke disoriented and dizzy
Just was wondering if I should of started the wellbutrin one a day to get used to it.

m a little surprised your Dr recommended Wellbutrin since you have ADD. This is one of the more stimulating antidepressants. Wellbutrin and Lexapro are both antidepressants but are in also different. Of course I'm not a Dr and I'm sure your Dr has a reason for switching your meds. Can you call and ask him if you can wait until after the holidays to make the switch?
Shortly after my thyroid medication was adjusted, I stopped Wellbutrin completely, so did not connect the Wellbutrin and the hair, and just assumed it had been the thyroid. I did go to my primary doctor and he wants to chane me to Cymbalta, which I can't afford and my insurnace won't cover. It won't cover brand zoloft either, but that is cheaper and I can buy it out of pocket.
After reading these posts and I am starting to put two and two together and they are definitely looking like they are adding up to weight gain from Lexapro. I started on Lexapro in early July. I weighed in at about 178 at that time - 5'9 and worked out almost every day. While I was experiencing the start up side effects from Lexapro (about 4 weeks) I didnt work out but didnt gain any weight during that time. Anyway long story short - in the last month to 6 weeks I have put on about 12 lbs.
I saw my OB/GYN recently and he stated that he would have rather that I had been taken off the wellbutrin first and then the lexapro since the wellbutrin has the tendency to make a person very anxious. To make things more complicated my periods have been regular but have been arriving earlier each month making it very difficult to pin point my approximate time of ovulation.

As part of my treatment for trying to uncover why I have tachycardia, I had to see a psychiatrist, who has prescribed me Xanax (extended release - once daily) and Lexapro b/c he believes i suffer from generalized anxiety and possible depression.
Does anyone on this board (with heart rhythm issues) have success stories from these drugs that you could share with me?
