Avatar f tn Hypercalcemia can also occur if you have excess thyroid hormone and Vitamin D can increase the symptom as more calcium get absorbed due to increased Vitamin D activation. So check your Free T3, Free T4 and TSH values. Anything close to high end of reference range (for TSH lower end) is abnormal. Also worth to rule out hyperparathyroidism by doing serum calcium and PTH together. In such cases taking Vitamin D aggravate the symptoms.
Avatar f tn I have hyprothyroid and low vitamin D and I take levothyroxine 100mg, vitamin d 50,000 icu, and he still told me to continue the oscal and I have gained 30 pounds in the last 3yrs and my stomach is bloated one day and gone the next. I am always extremely tired, I have to force myself out of bed every morning. Is there anything my doctor maybe missing. My hands swell and look puffy sometimes, but I do not have high blood pressure.
Avatar n tn s the best dose of Vitamin D3 to be used with Levothyroxine? What are the normal levels of vitamin D?
Avatar f tn Have you been tested for Vitamin D, B12, ferritin, and a full iron test panel? If so, please post those as well, with ranges. Also, have you been tested for adrenal function? A good test for that is the 24 hour saliva, or urine, cortisol test.
Avatar f tn I am also getting a sex hormone profile, vitamin and mineral screen done, too, to see why I am still tired and not getting a refreshing sleep every morning I wake up. The minerals being tested are: ferritin, magnesium and zinc. Ferritin I am aware was done very recently and was 12 (30-400) but I am with a different doctor and I think she re-ordered ferritin so as to wipe the slate clean and get a fresh set of results.
219609 tn?1210348114 I had thought as so,,Plus my endo told me to take 800 a day on vit D but I take 1000, I take all my meds like multi vitamins at noon and D before sleep,,I take my synthroid at 6am and go back to sleep,Most of the time I always get eight solid hours of sleep but my internal clock wakes me to take meds, plus there are still lots of times I wake first thing nervous, so my zanax is in order, I was at 175mcg for a while but am slowly going back down to 137mcg because my numbers are to high in the fre

2087589 tn?1332593596 Please provide the reference ranges, since these vary lab to lab and must come from your own report. Was there a TSH done?
Avatar f tn I have requested a copy of the panel that was used to diagnose hypothyroidism. I am taking levothyroxine 112 mg1x a day. My vitamin D level was 38 and I am taking 2000 iu 1x a day. In February, of this year, my Vitamin D levels were at 5. I was given a prescription of 50000iu 1x day for 5 weeks B was not discussed so I will call in the morning and see if it was a part of the panel. I do take prescription Virt-Vite, a vitamin B supplements.
Avatar f tn Iron, vitamin B12 and vitamin D are common deficiencies found with hypothyroidism. All three are causes of fatigue. Depending on how low you are to the how severe the fatigue is. Having had a severe deficiency of all three, vitamin B12 wins the contest in the fatigue stakes hands down.
Avatar f tn I was kind of wondering about Reverse T3, so I will ask for that to be tested next time! Oh, and good info about ferritin and vitamin D impacting the metabolism of the thyroid hormone. I'm assuming this could be negatively impacting my weight... is that a correct interpretation? Thank you again!
Avatar m tn Thyroid treating doctors too seldom ask why thyroid problems arise but simply give the missing thyroid hormone pill instantly as a quick fix and Vitamin D deficiencies is one major one.
Avatar f tn They may already have done everything necessary. That said, results to look for would be Free T4, Free T3, Vitamin B-12, Vitamin D, Ferritin. If any of these are on your lab report, I'd like to know their results and the lab's reference ranges for them.
Avatar f tn I had my whole thyroid removed 2 yrs ago. The levothyroxine wasn't absorbing so recently they put me on levothyroxine and cytomel as a booster for 9 days. My vitamin D levels.were very low. Now out of nowhere, I am getting a rash all around my neck. So.etimes very light sometimes not visible either. But the skin feels rough feeling. So I'm thinking it must be a thyroid issue or lack of vitamin D. I'm starting vitamin D today that the dr prescribed to be. We will see what happens.
Avatar f tn I have been on Synthroid for 2 years, ever since I started these meds I have had hip, both sides, lower back and shoulder pain that comes and goes, I started taking Vitamin D and Magnesium and for a while it stopped, I still take the D and Msg.
Avatar n tn When hypothyroid the patient often does not produce adequate stomach acid to absorb vitamins and nutrients well. The result is low Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin (iron). So the low vitamins/minerals don't cause the problem with taking thyroid med, the hypothyroidism causes problems absorbing enough vitamins/minerals. Just because your thyroid test results were within their reference range doesn't mean they are optimal.
Avatar f tn My endo started me on .25 levo and 50,000 units of Vitamin D once a week. It has only been two weeks. I am aware that Levo takes a least 4 to 6 weeks to get into your system. I did notice one thing about myself. I usually only get sore throat or a cold once a year, but every since being diagnosed I noticed that my throat feels sore often causing a cough. Could this have anything to do with the Hashi's?
Avatar f tn ________________________________ I just had my latest blood results back and my TSH has gone up to 11.5 and my serum free T4 level is low at 8.6 not good. Also my Vitamin D test came back and is Very low at only 12 should be 50- 200. My WBCs also came back HI at 13.4 and my neutrophil count is HI at 8.4 the last 2 things my GP never even mentioned to me!
Avatar m tn Watch out for any cysts or lumps... and he might even check for TB (the lumps they form in your body can increase vitamin D in your blood too). Of course, your blood work numbers are always in relation to the amount of fluid available - have you been mildly dehydrated recently? Make sure you're drinking plenty of water!! Good luck and keep us posted!
