Avatar f tn Hypercalcemia can also occur if you have excess thyroid hormone and Vitamin D can increase the symptom as more calcium get absorbed due to increased Vitamin D activation. So check your Free T3, Free T4 and TSH values. Anything close to high end of reference range (for TSH lower end) is abnormal. Also worth to rule out hyperparathyroidism by doing serum calcium and PTH together. In such cases taking Vitamin D aggravate the symptoms.

Avatar f tn I know my TSH was 6.11 in January, Vitamen D was 10. My Free T4 was 0.8. At that time my doc just put me on 50,000 units of Viramin d a week for 2 months. My last check up my TSH was even higher I can't remember the value and my T4 was still 0.8 so she started me on 50mcgs of levothyroxine. My vitamin d is now at 31. Avatar f tn I had my whole thyroid removed 2 yrs ago. The levothyroxine wasn't absorbing so recently they put me on levothyroxine and cytomel as a booster for 9 days. My vitamin D levels.were very low. Now out of nowhere, I am getting a rash all around my neck. So.etimes very light sometimes not visible either. But the skin feels rough feeling. So I'm thinking it must be a thyroid issue or lack of vitamin D. I'm starting vitamin D today that the dr prescribed to be. We will see what happens.
Avatar m tn Another contributor is low Vitamin D, hence get this also monitored. Magnesium helps clear brain fog hence is not the cause for the symptoms. Orthoplex B Vital also seems unlikely to be causing brain fog. Please consult your specialist. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn If your parathyroid has been ruled out, the doctor will probable look for inflammation due to tissue injury, since it can raise the amount of vitamin D in your blood. That will cause you to absorb more calcium from your foods to offset the high levels of vitamin D in your blood. (So stop beating yourself up!). Watch out for any cysts or lumps... and he might even check for TB (the lumps they form in your body can increase vitamin D in your blood too).

Avatar f tn B-12 deficiency can cause extreme fatigue and left untreated over an extended period can even cause nerve damage. Vitamin D deficiency can have symptoms very similar to hypo. D has to be present in cells in sufficient quantity or thyroid hormones can't get into the cells to do their work. So, you can feel hypo even with adequate blood levels of FT3 and FT4. If I were you, I'd definitely work on those vitamins and see if they help.

Avatar f tn In addition there are other variables that are important for you. Vitamin D is important for its effect on the body's response to thyroid hormone. D should be at least 50 ng/ml, B12 is important in preventing fatigue and should be in the upper part of its range. Ferritin is very important and should be at least 100. If you have been tested for Free T4, Free T3, Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin, please post results and the ranges shown on the lab report.
