Levofloxacin side effects medication

Common Questions and Answers about Levofloxacin side effects medication

levaquin

Avatar n tn Careful with Levofloxacin. Sometimes the side effects aren't worth the benefits. I took Levofloxacin to cure a bout of pneumonia. Sure enough, the infection cleared up, but my joints ached so bad I could not raise my arms to take a shower, put my clothes on, bend to tie my shoes, get in and out of a car quickly. Strength training and jogging was out of the question for a month.
Avatar m tn The loss of sensation around my scrotum made me initially think I had another mini stroke but I have no symptoms anywhere else and the only change or introduction to my body is this medicine mentioned above. After looking up side effects I am seriously wondering if this stuff is giving me this horrible side effect that may not yet be reported as such.
Avatar m tn My experience is anecdotal, but significant. I cannot tolerate Levaquin at all, but take Cipro without any side effects. I know at least four other individuals with the same tolerance for Cipro.
Avatar m tn That is an excellent question, since both antibiotics are fluoroquinalones, the same class of drugs. It is not a good idea to take a "lot of these drugs". Tendon rupture and horrible aches and pains for months can result. People have different genetic tolerances. I can tolerate Cipro, for example, however Levofloxacin caused me terrible problems for almost eight months. Getting back to your question the answer is "probably", but not absolutely positively. .
Avatar m tn Hey everyone, I've had chest and nose congestion for sometime now. I went to the doctor about a week ago when my symptoms were at its worse, intense wheezing, especially at night, runny nose, cough, and sneezing, that what was pretty much all I had but the wheezing was the worst part (I could hear myself breathing). My first doc prescribe me albuterol, prednisone and a z pack, I took eveything and started feeling better.
Avatar f tn An alternative is levofloxacin, but ILADS is no longer recommending that because the side effects are dangerous and it is less effective (bart goes inside your body cells and levofloxacin only works outside them). Is your doctor an ILADS member, or just a doc how tells you he knows about Lyme? There's a big difference. There are herbs that work on bart but if your infection is bad, they won't help a lot (I say that since i am no herbs for bart and they are not doing much).
483814 tn?1214311480 Serious and occasionally fatal events, such as hypersensitivity and/or anaphylactic reactions and some of unknown etiology, have been reported in patients receiving therapy with quinolones, including levofloxacin. These reactions may include effects on the liver, including hepatitis, jaundice, and acute hepatic necrosis or failure, and hematologic effects, including agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, and other hematologic abnormalities.
Avatar n tn Since your panic attacks are happening less, are the headaches numerous and a reason that you cannot take the medication anymore? Or are some of the side effects okay with you now that your anxiety is much better? What does your prescribing doctor say about this? Headaches can also be caused by an endless number of factors in my opinon. Are you getting enough sleep? Are you still under a lot of stress? The point is, that the headaches may not even be related to the medication itself.
Avatar m tn The drug is a class called fluoroquinalones, and the side effects may include anything from aches and pains for months to tendon rupture. If a fluoroquinalone is prescribed Cipro has far fewer side effects.
1495558 tn?1288805527 this does not sound like a normal reaction, and why, for heavens sake, if she is having these side effects, should she stay on it.
1286779 tn?1400012806 She went to a doctor yesterday about her hair and the doctor told her that it was because of this medication (Lydrica) But I have seen all side effects and none talk about hair lost. And my mother does not want to leave this medication because its the only one that works for her burning feet. Has anybody else expirence hair loss with Lydrica? She also takes Cymbalta 60mg,lyrica 75mg, Nexuim 40mg, and Tramabol 50mg. What do you all suggest she get tested for ?
Avatar f tn Hi Jennifer, How are you? Medication side effects may or may not occur to patients. You were given pain medication, anti-inflammatory, antihistamine and antipsychotic/tranqulizer. You may experience gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting and sedative effects. However, it is important that any sign of allergic reaction such as difficulty of breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. twitching or tremor will warrant immediate attention. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had any side effects from Depakote ER? My 24 year old son was just diagnosed with Seizures, after experiencing several episodes of lost of consciousness. Can anyone out there tell me if they have had constant nausea, fatigue and some heartburn from the medication?
Avatar f tn Did you taper off the vibryd or quit abruptly? You can't just switch from one medication to another even in the same class and avoid withdrawal -- these meds are not easy to stop taking and it must be done carefully. Unless you completely stop taking a medication before starting another it's impossible to tell if your symptoms are a sign you're suffering withdrawal and quit too quickly or are side effects of the new medication.
Avatar m tn I doubt this combination would be approved if it was dangerous. But all drugs may have side effects, and if you get bothersome side effects, you should report them to your doctor. Good luck.
Avatar n tn s always a good idea to read the information the pharmacy includes with the medication so you are aware of what side effects are possible and what side effects may be something you need to contact your prescriber about. But yes, Headaches can be a side effect of beginning the medication. Usually ear ringing is associated with stopping the medication but has been reported while beginning it also in some.
Avatar f tn Like... they said at 10mg there are very few side-effects and at 20mg there are noticeable side-effects. But, you obviously don't want to change the dose on your own, as this can be extremely dangerous! But, it would be worth talking to your doctor about if the side-effects don't go away fast enough. Although... most of the time... with SSRIs in general I find, it can take 2 to 4 weeks for side-effects to go away and then they're gone for good.
