Avatar m tn My question for you is could I have contracted an STD like gonorrhea from that limited oral sex encounter and passed it to my partner while I was asymptomatic and on antibiotics... If so could she have been asymptomatic all this time and passed it to me? If not then could this be something she contracted without me? I need to figure this out.
Avatar m tn 2) Hard lump in the left testicle from 4 days ago until about today. (I went to the doctor and started levofloxacin, 100mg x3 a day for over 7 days. I live in Japan, so yes, this dosage is 100% correct. I read somewhere that people thought this dosage is not possible). I've been checking all day and it really seemed to have disappeared, but the testicle is still weak and sensitive, so maybe it's possible that 1.
Avatar f tn With these tests a urine specimen can be used to diagnose gonorrhea in men and women and for women a swab taken from the vagina without a speculum, by either the patient or the health care provider will actually diagnose gonorrhea and/or chlamydia more accurately than the older tests did. The same sorts of nucleic acid amplification tests can also be performed on swab specimens as well. 2 and 3.
Avatar n tn If you indeed have one of these infections, however, the combination of levofloxacin and azithromycin is likely to cure you and your partner. Levofloxacin is not recommended in pregnancy, but azithromycin alone is likely to be effective. Since you have already treated yourself and your symptoms are improving, perhaps nothing more need be done. But you should not assume an STD was the cause of the problem.
Avatar f tn I called my family doctor and she has now prescribed me with 10 days of levofloxacin and has requested that I go in for a urine test to check for chlamydia or gonorrhoea. I also had sex with my girlfriend about 4 days ago before I felt the symptoms return after I had finished my doxy - she has not shown symptoms of anything this entire time. PS.
Avatar m tn m on the medication, azithromycin dosage is over and 2 tablets left for levofloxacin, and my eye redness has reduced a bit and the burning during urination reduced a bit too but not completely gone. What i want to know is:- 1.Will this antibiotic course be enough to cure my conjunctivitis? 2.Should I be taking antibiotic eye drops as well? 3.should i go see an ophthalmologist? 4.My vision gets a bit blurred at times, but washing with water or blinking a few times fixes it.
Avatar m tn I immediately went to see an urologist, after telling him everything, he gave me a shot of Ceftriaxone at the center vein of the right arm and prescribed me two pills, Azee 500mg and Levofloxacin 750mg, 5 tablets each over 5 days after lunch(azee) and before sleep(levofloxacin). Today is the second day of my course and the burning sensation while urinating has reduced from before but the eyes still stay red throughout the day.
Avatar m tn I tested for gonorrhea, chlamydia, and HIV and all tests have been negative and I do not have any discharge...just aching. Is Levofloxacin prescribed for NGU and epidimitis? I apologize for so many questions, but I've always been a healthy person so I'm pretty concerned. Also, with all my blood work being normal is it still possible to have an infection? Thanks!
Avatar m tn I went to urologist on the 1st day and he gave me cravit levofloxacin for 5 days hence am still under medication. I told him that i had unprotected sex last week (6 days before i went to doctor) and he suggested me to take that medication first and perform another urine test afterwards. Based on own research, there are 3 main possibilities: -Chlamydia -Gonorrhea -Urethritis Could anyone advise or happen to hav the same symptom before? NB: i do not see any green or yellow discharge.
Avatar m tn I read about Mycoplasma and it might be the reason in case of absence of chlamydia and gonorrhea. I am so concerned and confused about what the reason of all this and whether it is an STD considering the timing(3 weeks after safe sex with prostitute). Do you have any explaination kr advice? I am in serious relation and planning to have kid. Should I wait?
Avatar m tn He said there is a chance for me to acquire chlamydia, gu, other ngu and herpes. He gave me some antibiotics (Levofloxacin 250mg x 2 for 7 days) to take care of any potential UTI and told me to monitor my penis in the coming time (didn't say for how long) for any herpes symptoms. I was kind of relieved after seeing your posts here. But since I have been told I am at risk it will be nice to get a second opinion from an expert.
Avatar n tn Your risk is so low that I would urge you to go on and get tested for gonorrhea, chlamydia (which a promise you will not be there) and nongonococcal urethritis (NGU). then wait till about three weeks and get the syphilis test. When all of those results come back negative as I'm sure they will, forget the entire episode and move on. Do not take antibiotics please.
Avatar m tn The most likely explantion for all this is that you acquired gonorrhea, successfully treated it with the fluoroquinolone, and now have post-gonococcal urethritis. PGU is believed to be essentially the same as NGU, acquired simultaneously with gonorrhea. As for NGU, about 20-30% of PGU is caused by chlamydia, but as you already know, chlamydia is infrequently acquired from oral-genital expossure.
Avatar m tn Chronic groin pain on the left side for the last 2 years. The pain radiates to the left testicle and left leg. The pain is constant and dull through out.. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Diagnosis: All STDs Negative, No Epididymitis, No Prostatitis. Urine and Semen culture normal. Urine Frequency is Normal. Scrotal ultrasound scanning revealed mild inguinal adenopathy (swelling). Urologist did physical examination and ruled out inguinal hernia.
Avatar f tn It started out with anal itching and an itchy scrotum and slight burning when I urinate. 3 months later I just have an extremely red scrotum and some dark veins on it. Doctors are dismissing this as normal. (I know it isn't normal for me) they think I have epidydmitis, I had an ultra sound yesterday and I'm still waiting on the results. They put me on doxycycline which seemed to take my symptoms away but as soon as I ran out the symptoms came back.
Avatar f tn Hi i got diagonised with gonnorhea on 19th october i was given ceftriaxone injection one for 5 days and ciprofloxacin 500mg *2 for five days the symptoms persisted the second time i was given three injections for three days. .
Avatar m tn htm Number 188052 CPT 87798 These organisms are frequently transfered at the same time as the better known STDs like gonorrhea and chlamydia. Gonorrhea has a high cure rate of about 98% (except for resistant strains, where cipro might fail but cefiximine will nearly always work) and chlamydia 96-98%. However mycoplasma/ureaplasma recur about 20-60% of the time. So recurrent urethritis is nearly never due to gonorrhea or chlamydia, unless the patient was reinfected.
Avatar f tn One thing though he did right is that he prescribed me a 500mg a day Levofloxacin for week and it almost instantly helped my condition. Although he was a quite friendly doctor, I felt I was more informed than him on STI’s given my research and thanks to this forum archive database. I decided to visit Zack medical as I was informed they are specialists in STI’s and Dr Zack is quite knowledgeable and they run the best pathology tests in town.
Avatar m tn You are right that much gonorrhea is now resistant to levofloxacin (Levoquin) but I still doubt that this is gonorrhea however. (among other things, the discharge would not be clear).. Please let us know what the doctor ssays.
Avatar n tn t even know what an std (I TRIED TODAY BEFORE i LEFT THE MAIN TOWN) is let alone what medicines, absolutely nothing for std, as I am working here for 4 weeks now and need your help, as I reasearched the proper medicines on the way here to make sure before I left my country the doctor had prescribed the right drugs, he gave me Tavanic levofloxacin(which I left at home) and have now realised that it is from the fluroquinolones family and not safe during pregnancy.
483814 tn?1214311480 Serious and occasionally fatal events, such as hypersensitivity and/or anaphylactic reactions and some of unknown etiology, have been reported in patients receiving therapy with quinolones, including levofloxacin. These reactions may include effects on the liver, including hepatitis, jaundice, and acute hepatic necrosis or failure, and hematologic effects, including agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, and other hematologic abnormalities.
Avatar m tn Sometimes my anus feels inflamed and I end up having diarrhea. I have been tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia four times now and all of the tests came back negative. I have read about a possibility of U. Urealyticum and M. Genitalium and wondering how common this can be transferred during intercourse. Please help! I can't seem to find any answers online and I am afraid that I will not be able to find the problem and be stuck with this life and I really do not want that!
