levaquin induced tendonitis

I already have tendonits (both wrists) and everything has failed including physical therapy and steroid injections, i was referred to surgeon now as nothing has worked, have an appoint in November. Should I take the levaquin if i already have tendonitis? The sinus infection is bad saw ENT friday and put me on levaquin. I know us chiarians have sinus issues and i've had previous surgery so have ongoing issues. I've taken levaquin before (last winter).

Both levaquin and Cipro gave me 'tendonitis' ALL over the body. Not just the Achilles tendon! Not a rupture, which is what a lot of the articles are about---- 'just' pain. For years. Still bad. :( Not what everyone gets---- so until you try them you won't know. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.

I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.

You haven't been taking Levaquin to treat that p-neumonia have you?

I was given the drug Levaquin at the hospital I was diagnosed with Tendonitis 3 months later. I saw an orthopedic surgeon, I had a MRI which show I had Tears in my Tendons and Tendonitis. I had surgery for my Tendonitis. Now After the surgery the pain is worser, I get tingling, sharp shoting pain from the shoulder to my elbow to the forearm. Afetr the surgery he said I did not have Tendonitis.

I took Levaquin unfortunately last week to treat a bacterial infection. The infection is gone but now my legs are tingling all the time and are in pain as well. I am wondering how long these side effects last and if there is any way to make them go away sooner. I am also having trouble sleeping now. I wish I knew this before taking this!!! I am suffering from debilitating tendon pain in many joints. I am inclined to accredit this as a side effect of Levaquin, but none of the doctors I've seen have agreed with this, though they also have not offered any other explanation. Good to see his symptoms improving. It could a side effect of levaquin, as this can cause swelling and pain in the joints, this is more so if he is prone for joint/tendon problems such as tendonitis and bursitis. It should resolve once the medication is stopped. Discuss these symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medication. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Same here. Took Levaquin not knowing about the tendonitis side effect and developed a severe case in my right achilles tendon that has never gone away, and it's been over 2 years. All my tendons are also so tight now that I injured my right elbow tendon 6 months ago simply lifting a medium rock, and it still hurts. No one warned me about the side effect...I'm still angry I wasn't informed before I took the medicine.

Going to pcp this morning. Just finished levaquin for 3 weeks, didn't seem to touch my sinus infection. Feeling pain in my back like i did last year when i had pneumonia. So tired. Face/eyes swollen, ent said try claritin, so took that this morning and f/u with ent next week. Need refills of lortab and compazine from pcp, feel like a druggie.

I've heard you can have this with fluoroquinolines like levaquin in rare cases- I'm taking levaquin now and seem ok but it seems these drugs can cause tendon ruptures

She had a severe allergic reaction to levaquin back in september, but recent rash did not begin until feb. She was taking macrobid for kidney infection in jan. but rash did not begin until feb. she has seen primary care, infectious disease control and allergy doctos and none of them can tell her what it is or what causes it. Biopsy says bacterial fungus, but steroids and antibiotics not helping.

I have had increasing Achilles tendon pain first on the right and then on the left for upwards of a year now. The tendon is sore and aches and it is swollen on the sides - and is warm. All signs of a tendonitis. BTW GOOD to see you! It is most likely related to the MS. I don't think it is "directly" a part of the MS, but it certainly is a result of it. Has anyone gotten the pregnancy induced carpel tunnel and if so, how long does it take after deliver for it to go away? I have had it for months now. I actually have carpel tunnel and tendonitis in both wrists and i'm hoping it goes away relatively soon after I deliver....which should be any day now. Has anyone had an experience with this?

Hi everyone...has anyone ever been on Levaquin (it's in the same class of antibiotics as Cipro)? I was on it for 5 days of my 10 when I started getting some wrist pain and they took me off it. I didn't even know it causes tendon damage. Just wondering if anyone else had those side effects??? I think my mom was on it (IV) but didn't have any side effects. All I can say is if they want to put you on it, ask for something else unless there is no choice! Thanks!

This occurred while I had a sinus infection which was treated with levaquin and prednisone. The tendonitis was diagnosed by my PCP, who recommended reduced activity. After about 3 months of non-recovery, I saw an orthopedist who started me on physical therapy. The physical therapy was non-effective. Around this time I developed another sinus infection. It was initially thought to be pressure headaches, and a long 3 week taper of prednisone was prescribed.

I know by now you may have resolved this issue, but after my first child, I had this kind of pain and it turned out to be pregnancy induced tendonitis. A hand doctor gave me a shot in each of the wrists and the pain went away in a few days.

Hi, It is possible that you had a trauma-induced urethral tear that is still open and is causing bleeding accompanied by flow of urine. You can check whether the bleeding will subside on its own, but it is apparent that with the extent of damage implied by your symptoms, you may be required to seek direct medical attention and will definitely need a course of antibiotics. Blood at the beginning of urination indicates that the source of bleeding is in the urethra or at the bladder outlet.

I also get a sharp pain in my arm between my shoulder and my elbow. My husband thinks its tendonitis...but with all my other things, I don't know, does this sound familiar to anyone?

Does anyone else have difficulty with recent dx. of multiple sites of tendonitis. Going to PT for this, but not much is helping. Have had cortisone injection into shoulder to help along with 6 weeks of PT. Frustrated with lack of progress in overcoming symptomss.

Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one. Trust me it is not worth it. After 6 pills my calf muscles began to cramp. Dr. says ibuprofen 600mg a day.. Well its been all downhill from there. I developed full body tendinitis,(couldn't walk) my joints & muscles swelled so bad my nerves were compressed.
