After a couple of days I started feeling pain in my upper chest, shoulder, down my right arm and right underarm. The pain feels like a needle is jabbing me. Sometimes the pain will go away and somtimes it is very bad and lasts for weeks at a time. I also have some musle pain in these areas. Can you please help me figure out what to do about this.
I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
For the past year, I've noticed a lump on my back, on the left side, underneath the skin has been about the size of a quarter. My skin is smooth, and to the touch it felt like a pimple, able to be moved around. However, over the past several weeks, it is getting less soft to the touch,feels like it's enlarged, and I am experiencing pain when I sit back on a chair, even if it is a soft armchair or couch.
They switched my ab to Levaquin 250 for 7 days. No change in the infection, still had diarrhea, joint pain and back pain. AB was switched to Levaquin 500 for 10 days and I honestly felt GREAT!! 3 - 4 days all symptoms came back so they put on Levaquin 250 again. I had to give a stool sample and get a colonscopy - which came back negative. The stool sample showed no bacteria so I stopped the Levaquin as tinging came back. I have gone down hill since.
straight from my drug book, levaquin produces these adverse effects: headache, insomnia, dizziness (check), nausea, diarrhea, constipation (check), vomiting, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, rash (maybe), pruritus, decreased vision, foreign body sensation, transient ocular burning, ocular pain, photophobia, vaginitis (UTI you're probably thinking of), injection site pain/inflammation, chest or back pain, fever, pharyngitis, cartilage erosion (source of your joint pain).
I was on levofloxacin (Levaquin) for my Bart, and I had to stop after six weeks when I developed pain in my left achilles heel. I was disappointed as my anxiety pretty much disappeared on it. Levaquin is known to cause tendon rupture, especially in the achilles tendons, even weeks or months after a person stops taking the drug.
I've got tendonitis all over my body for the past 4 years (Elbows, achiles, pectoralis etc.. On top of that I have bone to bone cartilage degeneration on most of my joints (knees, elbows).
For the past 4 years I've been traveling the world in clinics trying to find cure for my problems. I've had 4 surgeries so far. I'll have a couple more soon. Most of the doctors don't know what's the cause. I thinks it's probably Cypro or Accutane.
I went back to the Doctor and he prescribe me Levitra for erectile dysfunction and told me that other patients have secondary effects after taking Levaquin. So, I took the Levitra and I started gettin my erections back and ejaculated without pain. After a month he switch me to Cialis, then after month of taking cialis I decided to stop taking cialis because I was able to get erections on my own, but a few days ago I started having painful ejaculations.
My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.
the symptoms i had (pain at the tip of penis) went away after using levaquin (dr called it a prostatitis) then came back 3 months later. i took another 10 days of levaquin, symptoms went away, then came back. took cipro, felt better after 1st day, then symptoms came back 1 week later.
any thoughts on why the symptoms go away after using levaquin and cipro (temporarily)?
I have really bad arm pain, mostly in my right hand for the past eight years. I have been to the doctors several times and been told each time that they don't know what is wrong with me. I am going for a second opinion. The last ortho doctor I saw told me on the phone I had white spots on my bone which were nothing to worry about. During a visit two weeks later we looked at my MRI and they were black spots, to which he told me he didn't know what they were...!
Couple months ago I had unprotected sex. Two weeks later I had pain in my uretha between my anus and testicles. When I would sit in car for long time it would be more painful. I went to the doctors they had me pee in cup, nothing came up. At this time there was no pain in the penis. The doctor said it probally Prostatitis, so they put me on smz-tmp antibiotic for couple weeks. During this time pain got worse, into my testicles and burning in my penis.
for the past 3-4 months now I have been having on and off again pain. The pain seems to feel like a dull ache and seems to be coming from my left testicle/groin area. I went to see a urologist; physical examination was normal, rectal examination was normal, and ultrasound showed no abnormalities/masses/swelling. I was on Levaquin for 7 days/500mg and this has not really helped. I am not really sure what to do now. Any advice or suggestions? Thanks a lot.
However, I did have intensified gut and neuro symptoms as well as anxiety, all of which are attributed to Bartonella. I am still on Levaquin for it even though my anxiety is gone.
Good to see his symptoms improving. It could a side effect of levaquin, as this can cause swelling and pain in the joints, this is more so if he is prone for joint/tendon problems such as tendonitis and bursitis. It should resolve once the medication is stopped. Discuss these symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medication.

I took Levaquin unfortunately last week to treat a bacterial infection. The infection is gone but now my legs are tingling all the time and are in pain as well. I am wondering how long these side effects last and if there is any way to make them go away sooner. I am also having trouble sleeping now. I wish I knew this before taking this!!!

Diagnosed by ER doctor with Hepatitis. Upper abdominal pain (off the charts) at 4am/5am that was similar to a gallbladder attack (but gallbladder was removed in 2009). My liver enzymes are sky high.
I had normal voiding. However my stinging is back. Any thoughts to why my stingingness/pain responded to levaquin and my symptoms were gone but now is back. However no bacteria or infection is detectable. i am frustrated as i feel even urologists do not have enough knowledge on this disease. Do you think I need to be put on a daily dose of Levaquin for a longer period of time as I responded to this? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.
