Avatar f tn I have been on letrozole for 5 months now and nothing.I had a miscarriage in march and have been taking this since march. The only side effects I have had are hot flashes in the beginning but I do get stabbing headaches occasionally.Has anyone else had to go from letrozole to something else that helped get them pregnant.
Avatar n tn HI, Women with PCOS often have a problem with ovulation and hence may need medical help. Induction of ovulation with either clomiphene or letrozole usually gives good results. However you need to be in touch with your Doctor to prevent side effects of the drugs. These drugs can be used for 3 to 6 months. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor.
Avatar f tn The better way to go about it would be weight loss, metformin, and birth control pills if you do not wish to get pregnant. If a pregnancy is desired then induction of ovulation with drugs like clomifene can be done. Discuss with your Doctor. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Also if clomid does not work (you are on a big dose of clomid) you may need to try another medication for ovulation induction like letrozole or injectables.
148691 tn?1260194903 Before going to IVF, if you do not want to deal with clomid again, you might want to speak with your REI about a drug called letrozole (ovulation induction is a non-approved use) or about injection fertility drugs with intercourse at home (if you do not have periods on your own). All/any of the above options are reasonable.
1190279 tn?1324936257 Hi! Doctors will prescribe either clomid or letrozole to assist with ovulation. There's two main differences: it doesn't have anti-estrogenic side effects like clomid; and although studies have proven letrozole is an effective fertility drug it hasn't been approved by the FDA yet for fertility use, thus isn't covered by insurance (beware it's very expensive). Letrozole was developed to treat estrogen-sensitive breast cancers.
Avatar f tn I tested 5 days post ovulation and it was negative. I'm hoping I just tested too soon! Was wandering when you girls tested and what test when you got a positive! Thanks!
Avatar f tn Hi, Typically ovulation monitoring is carried out along with ovulation stimulating drugs like Letrozole. The monitoring can be done through external sonography but infertility specialists prefer vaginal sonography to find out the exact date when you ovulate and also the size of follicle(s).
Avatar f tn I'm having around 31 day cycle and I'm of age 30 . I have been on letrozole 2.5mg in my last cycle( first time) CD 3-7 . My OB suggested to have intercourse on CD 13-17, but when I checked with OPK , it showed negative from CD 13-20 . could anyone tell me if I could have ovulated earlier than CD 13 or is there any chance that I could ovulate anyday from CD 21-24 or so . Could anyone please help me with this.
1287560 tn?1272216521 Hello, has anyone not had much success with clomid to help ovulation so tried a different drug i.e letrozole(femura) instead.
Avatar f tn I didnt have any side effects. And we did novarel to trigger ovulation so we were right on time. Hope it works for you too. Good luck.
Avatar m tn Hi There! On my first round of Letrozole(Femara) and no ovulating is showing. Anyone not ovulate the first month, but then start next couple months, or is this med not like that?? I don't feel the best on it, but will try anything. Had our first little guy a year ago with in vitro. We can't afford that route again, so hoping we are blessed by just doing prescription helpers. But I don't want to keep taking something that makes me feel awful if it isn't going to kick in.
Avatar f tn I have pcos. One year ago i used clomoid 150 mg tablets for 3 months but no luck.then i was used after ovulation 15 progestone tablets for pregnancy protection(if pregnancy is there), Now my RE recomended letrozole 5 mg tablets .I have to start on my 3rd of my period.RE asked ne to use ovulation predictor kits and if perod missed means I have to take an appointment. She didn't give any progestrone tablets after ovulation. Is this the correct way?
519935 tn?1216151210 I am 30 years old and me and my husband have been trying to conceive for 1 year now. Started with 50 mg clomid and went up to 150 mg. changed 2 doctors in the course. Had 1 IUI with Clomid done in Feb'08. Changed to 3rd doctor after that..and he switched me to Letrozole in Mar and did an IUI with it. He also put me on Metformin and Synthroid and said I have mild PCOS. Got laparoscopy done in Apr and found level 2 endometriosis.
Avatar n tn I'm praying that this cycle of me taking 5mg of letrozole will work with me and my husband.

Avatar n tn We went to 100mgs, no ovulation. We went to 150mgs and BINGO! Ovulation. (along with many other alternative things I do - as well as being treated for a vitamin deficiency (it's called Pyrolurria)) So last cycle I o'd on cd 16. This cycle I decided to stay with the clomid since it obviously worked last cycle. I am on CD 19 this cycle and so far nothing. No EWCM ( Inver have had any good EWCM). No temp shift nothing.
1550414 tn?1294039186 ) i too a HPT 15dpo and i got a faint positive and i called my doctor and the nurse told me to wait for a week if AFdont show up come to the hospital...this made me sad so i stopped taking hpt...but what i am really concerned about is that i was prescribed progestone supplements 200 for 2 times a day for just ten days from three days after ovulation so the tablet got over now...its been three days without tablets....i am afraid if the sudden drop in the progestone level could affect the baby..
Avatar f tn at the time of my last IUI ( Letrozole + Ovidrel ), I had 3 follies measuring 20 mm, 16 mm and 14mm..my RE mentioned that he likes to see atleast 1 follie around 16mm or greater around the time of IUI..so hopefully you should be good! good luck!!
Avatar f tn From day 8 onwards 2T/day of Progynova (to ensure thickening of my uteral lining) and from the 3rd day after ovulation, I need to take Duphaston. I can tolerate Letrozole and Duphaston without any problems. But Progynova gives me horrible side effects: dizziness, extreme low energy level and anxiety attacks (never had anxiety before). I was just wondering if Progynova can indeed give these side effects and if there are any other drugs that can stimulate the thickening of my uteral lining.
Avatar n tn My husband & I have been trying to conceive our first child for almost 1 year with no success. We follow my ovulation calendar but have not had success. I am 31 & my husband is 32, we are both healthy, active adults. My doctor had me try 1 round of Provera with no success in August & 5days of Letrozole in September - just before I started my menstral cycle November 22, the week prior I experienced morning nausea & amazing sense of smell.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! This is my first month on ovulation pills "letrozole." I look them on days 3-7 of my cycle like the doc said, then after my period, my husband and I have sex every other day. We started Aug 4th... Then on the 8th, I started experiencing cramping on my right side and back pain. A few days it switched to the left side. My breasts are sensitive. And I feel heavy and tired. I'm obese, but this is not the normal heavy feeling. My BBT is usual 98.4 give or take .
1626928 tn?1378850167 5mg two times a day of femara/letrozole and 1500mg a day metformin. I am curious about side effects, advice, success stories, etc. I am anxious and have been TTC for 3 years total, 2 with a doctors assistance. THANK YOU in advance.
Avatar f tn AF showed up today, and tomorrow, I need to call the RE and tell him what treatment my husband and I want going forward. We've been trying since February, and I do ovulate, and we've been timing intercourse, but nothing. I know this needs to be our decision, but I would love any input you all wonderful ladies could offer. Basically, my two options are. . . 1.
