Avatar f tn Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Me: 28 Hubby: 30 Sperms analysis perfect, laparoscopy perfect, all tests for ovulation and ultrasounds looked perfect. Trying since 2012 no pregnancy yet This is my 2nd cycle on femara, next ovulation expected on 1/14. If 3rd cycle not successful, will do iui with femara anyone else done this and got pregnant? ?
1190279 tn?1324936257 Hi! Doctors will prescribe either clomid or letrozole to assist with ovulation. There's two main differences: it doesn't have anti-estrogenic side effects like clomid; and although studies have proven letrozole is an effective fertility drug it hasn't been approved by the FDA yet for fertility use, thus isn't covered by insurance (beware it's very expensive). Letrozole was developed to treat estrogen-sensitive breast cancers.
Avatar f tn I'm having around 31 day cycle and I'm of age 30 . I have been on letrozole 2.5mg in my last cycle( first time) CD 3-7 . My OB suggested to have intercourse on CD 13-17, but when I checked with OPK , it showed negative from CD 13-20 . could anyone tell me if I could have ovulated earlier than CD 13 or is there any chance that I could ovulate anyday from CD 21-24 or so . Could anyone please help me with this.
1287560 tn?1272216521 Have asked before but want to hear of any positive stories using letrozole(femara) to help with ovulation, this drug is primarily a drug used to help with breast cancer and is still in research stage for fertility problems, my dr is talking with other gp's because is not happy to prescribe it to me.
1287560 tn?1272216521 Hello, has anyone not had much success with clomid to help ovulation so tried a different drug i.e letrozole(femura) instead.
Avatar f tn hi there! I am also starting Letrozole (also known as Femara) next cycle onwards...had two failed Clomid cycles..so the Dr now wants to try Letrozole.. till now I have only heard good things about it..so hoping this does the trick..
Avatar f tn I tested 5 days post ovulation and it was negative. I'm hoping I just tested too soon! Was wandering when you girls tested and what test when you got a positive! Thanks!
Avatar m tn Hi There! On my first round of Letrozole(Femara) and no ovulating is showing. Anyone not ovulate the first month, but then start next couple months, or is this med not like that?? I don't feel the best on it, but will try anything. Had our first little guy a year ago with in vitro. We can't afford that route again, so hoping we are blessed by just doing prescription helpers. But I don't want to keep taking something that makes me feel awful if it isn't going to kick in.
Avatar n tn I'm praying that this cycle of me taking 5mg of letrozole will work with me and my husband.
Avatar f tn I used it 2 cy les also tracked ovulation with smiley face ovulation test got pregnant second time after using 6 no gi clomid cycles
Avatar n tn HI, Women with PCOS often have a problem with ovulation and hence may need medical help. Induction of ovulation with either clomiphene or letrozole usually gives good results. However you need to be in touch with your Doctor to prevent side effects of the drugs. These drugs can be used for 3 to 6 months. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor.
Avatar n tn I tried clomid as well a couple of years ago, with very similar side effects as you describe. The fertility specialist I am seeing now put me on Letrozole. Letrozole is actually a drug used for women with breast cancer. One of the 'side effects' is that it stimulates ovulation. Of course the dose you take for fertility purposes is much lower compared to taking it for breast cancer. I did a little research on my own and found that Letrozole is actually much safer than clomid.
1550414 tn?1294039186 i was told by my doctor i am anovulatory which made me depressed and i was on letrozole for 6 months but dint work..this is the first month i am given letrozole plus FSH injections and this made me produce one dear follicle which was 19mm and was given trigger shot 12 days ago.I took a pregnancy test 9 days after trigger shot which came out negative which confirmed trigger shot was out of my system...but still sore nipples...when should i take the next pregnancy test to see the confirmed result.
Avatar n tn My husband & I have been trying to conceive our first child for almost 1 year with no success. We follow my ovulation calendar but have not had success. I am 31 & my husband is 32, we are both healthy, active adults. My doctor had me try 1 round of Provera with no success in August & 5days of Letrozole in September - just before I started my menstral cycle November 22, the week prior I experienced morning nausea & amazing sense of smell.
Avatar f tn On days 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 I need to take 1T/day of Letrozole (to stimulate folicle growth). From day 8 onwards 2T/day of Progynova (to ensure thickening of my uteral lining) and from the 3rd day after ovulation, I need to take Duphaston. I can tolerate Letrozole and Duphaston without any problems. But Progynova gives me horrible side effects: dizziness, extreme low energy level and anxiety attacks (never had anxiety before).
Avatar f tn Hi, Typically ovulation monitoring is carried out along with ovulation stimulating drugs like Letrozole. The monitoring can be done through external sonography but infertility specialists prefer vaginal sonography to find out the exact date when you ovulate and also the size of follicle(s).
1626928 tn?1378850167 5mg two times a day of femara/letrozole and 1500mg a day metformin. I am curious about side effects, advice, success stories, etc. I am anxious and have been TTC for 3 years total, 2 with a doctors assistance. THANK YOU in advance.
Avatar f tn ve heard this has less bad side effects than clomid) which will help my cycles to become shorter and ovulation to happen a bit sooner in my cycle. (My cycles are nearly 40 days right now, with ovulation around 25-30) The pros of this plan would be that it would be cost effective. The cons are that I already ovulate, so I don't get how making ovulation sooner will make me more fertile. 2. Next month, take letrozole and also do inter uterine insemination.
Avatar f tn Would like to know others opinions. June 2012 I had a miscarriage, had some spotting in Sept then no period until January 13' then it was almost every 3rd MO I'd get a period. In 2014 I started getting a period every MO was around the 14th of every month then it slowly got to the 25th ish. We have been trying ever since I healed. I haven't really don't the bbt and the ovulation test I was just kind of in the mind set of leave up to god.
6889053 tn?1386025503 Hello, my husband and I have been trying to conceive since we've gotten married 8 yrs ago. I was diagnosed with pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome) in 2006. I'm not overweight, and my cycles come every month but not consistently. Well, this entire month of Nov., I have not gotten my period. I thought I might finally be pregnant so I went to my dr. and the test was negative. How can this be?? I get my period every month, finally miss a cycle, and it's negative?
Avatar f tn Usually REs will start you out on clomid or letrozole. If they don't work they move you on to injectibles (which are basically LH and/or FSH) such as menopur, follistim, gonal-f, bravelle, etc. Just depends what your RE prefers to use and what is right for your situation.
284773 tn?1207757759 Maybe you are thinking of Femara (letrozole)?? This is also used to treat breast cancer and to induce ovulation in fertility patients instead of clomid. I read many scientific articles regarding femara before I decided to try it. It does work and worked for me on the first cycle. I know others who it also worked for. If you are looking for an alternative to clomid it is something you may want to investigate bfore moving on to injectibles.
5875562 tn?1410898886 Talk to your doc abt Letrozole aka femara. They help with ovulation without thinning the lining.
519935 tn?1216151210 I am 30 years old and me and my husband have been trying to conceive for 1 year now. Started with 50 mg clomid and went up to 150 mg. changed 2 doctors in the course.
