Common Questions and Answers about Laser removal before and after

Avatar m tn My mum and I have been recently getting laser hair removal done every 4-6 weeks. We are both on our 6th or so session. Both of us have responded well and nothing bad has happened. However, yesterday my mum went for her session and she came back with a lot of redness. She gets her neck, chin, cheeks and upper lip done and everything was very noticeably red. This has never happened before. There might be a little bit of redness/itchiness/soreness afterwards, but not to this extent.
Avatar f tn I also read something about needling? Can I see before and after photos too of possible? I can't let summer come and have these be visible!!!! It's so bad Thank you!!!!!!

Avatar f tn Hello, Laser hair removal is not 100% fullproof and some miniature hair may be left even after multiple laser hair removal sessions. Also it is not without side effects and may cause redness, erythema, hyper or hypopigmentation and sometimes burning and dryness of skin. So discuss all the pros and cons with a dermatologist before getting it done.
Avatar f tn I work at the top laser hair removal company in the uk and we don't treat anybody who is pregnant, it's not worth the risk, it can also cause pigmentation because of the hormones x rubbish I know because I was due to get mine but iv just found out in 5 weeks =)
Avatar f tn They also should have done a patch test and given specific instructions regarding which products he should or shouldn't use before and after treatment. He could have had a histamine response to the therapy. Permanent removal of hair usually takes more than one session so i would have faith in the dermatologists who told you the hair and skin will be fine after this trauma. Does the laser clinic offer an after-care service? He should definately make them aware of his bad reaction.
280369 tn?1316705641 Ive heard that laser hair removal really stings like someone flicking a rubber band! ouch!! Have you tried using talcum powder and a razor,it doesnt sting and prevents rash.
280369 tn?1316705641 hi chantal21, i also looked into laser hair removal, mainly for my belly and bikini line. i do not have a lot of body hair, but those two places really bother me. i did not end up pursuing it after i learned that you have to receive regular treatments to ensure that the hair is removed, and even then there is no guarantee that the hair will not return. talk about frustrating! each visit can cost up to $200 depending on where and how much hair you need removed.
Avatar f tn Hi llenda, I wish i read your comments before I made the mistake of having laser hair removal on my beard. I had a very thick beard and planned on having the beard thinned. After one treatment, my beard was very uneven with bald spots around my cheeks. I went back after a month to have a few random dark spots treated again. Another month and a half has gone by and my face is still very patchy around the cheeks. My mustache and chin facial hair seems unaffected.
Avatar n tn With the creams, make sure you use them the night before and moisturize afterwards, as there will be a bit of redness and irritation. In the morning though, I am fine. But they should sell all the products you want at a beauty-supply store. There is a chain called Sally's, and any time I've been in there the women have been extremely helpful and somewhat knowledgable(sp).
Avatar n tn I was burned on July 17 after laser hair removal. It later peeled and I was left with white hypopigmentation marks. It has been three months and I have not seen any changes. Please let me know if this is permanent or if there is any treatment for this.
Avatar m tn There are many procedures of mole removal like by shave or deep elliptical excision, excision with cauterization (a tool is used to burn away the mole) and laser removal. Your dermatologist may choose excision with or without stitches, depending on the depth of the mole and the type of cosmetic outcome desired. You are usually given local anesthesia before excision and pain killers after these techniques. It may result in scarring esp excision and cautery.
Avatar f tn Yes I've had laser hair removal and I'm very happy with the results. I have dark hair too. I've had my whole face, both arm and underarm done. I will be going to my 8th session in Mid May. I saw results immediately. especially my underarm, 90% of the hair was gone just after 2 sessions. And after the 5th session I don't have any hair under my arm. With my face and arms its taking a little longer because the hair is finer on the face and arm than it is on the underarm.
Avatar f tn Do not use any products on the area to be treated for 48 hours before and after treatment, unless otherwise instructed. Ask your doctor if this could be a histamine response and would anti-histamines and hydrocortisone be helpful?
Avatar f tn 5 as i have been given treatment of laser barrage in my right eye 45 days back and i have got it checked as it is perfectly cued pls reply for lasik ?
Avatar n tn This is my second time getting this mole removed (I got it done about two years ago and it grew back). Last time I got it removed it scabbed and quickly healed and everything was great. This time it didn't seem like the dermo was very thorough and now (two weeks-ish later) I have a small bump (about the size the mole was before) and it's quite pink.. I have a follow up appointment in a month but I don't feel like it's going to go away.. What should I do?
Avatar f tn Side effects of laser hair removal can include blistering, discoloration after treatment, swelling, redness, and scarring. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used (e.g.
Avatar n tn Skin should be thoroughly assessed (especially pigmented moles) by a physician before use of any therapeutic electromagnetic radiation (including laser and/or IPL) for medical and/or cosmetic reasons. Presence of a pigmented mole with variable color and more than 0.5 cm in diameter requires complete analysis and regular follow up checks. 2.
Avatar f tn I have very pale skin and was informed that I was a perfect candidate for laser hair removal on the face; however, the skin on the upper lip is far too sensitive for laser hair removal, whatever your skin tone. I have spent a fortune on creams such as Clinique's dark spot corrector with little effect. The issue is that the damage caused by the laser is so deep no topical solution is effective.
Avatar n tn these hairs are very faint, and I've never touched most of them before. Just in case the laser treatment doesn't fully work, will this cause these areas to become... gross? Meaning darker and thicker hair growing, bumps, and dryness. I do not want to make my hair situation worse! Thank you for your time and advice.
Avatar f tn If you're not following a low fat diet, you may want to consider doing so. Some people have problems handling fats after GB removal and it can cause a variety of different problems. It may take several weeks to find out, but it might be worth a try.
Avatar n tn Can you provide the pros and cons of this surgery and any information on this condition and the doctors request for bladder removal Thanks Rica's Mom
Avatar n tn For better or worse, laser hair removal is not always permanent--hair often grows back, and most of the time the hair comes in the same color as before, if not necessarily the same thickness. I have not seen hair come in white as a result of laser hair removal. I suspect that the hair looks lighter because it's thinner. In time it is likely to look even with your other hair.
11358238 tn?1430413563 I'm growing hair like crazy on my face. I used to do laser Hair removal before I found out I was pregnant. Now I can't do them anymore till after the baby. I did wax my face and now have ingrown hairs on my neck. I exfoliate daily and don't know what to do. Anyone experiencing this problem? I need Help I love my baby, I need this hair gone. Has anyone done laser while pregnant?
Avatar n tn Has anyone had laser surgery for genital warts removal before? I am worried about the scarring and the recovery part of the surgery. My Dr. said I would be in bed for about 15 days following the surgery, and that it would take about 1 month to heal completely. I've heard about horror stories... bad scarring... tissue sticking together... skin not being the same afterwards, and complicated intercourse following the surgery. Does anyone have any info? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I am about to receive the Venus laser treatment (burn to peel skin off) to fight some acne scars, fine lines and large pores. I have received this treatment before and it had an amazing effect on my skin, especially when it came to wrinkles. However some weeks, possibly months after the treatment, I experienced a rather speedy aging of my skin, especially around my eyes, even a little on my forehead.

1044425 tn?1257546110 I had hypo-pigmentation for laser burn and after 4 months when the marks didnt disappear, the doctor said they would be permanent. So I decided to try and sun tan the area. I put lots and lots of sunscreen around the marks (it was time consuming) and then tanned myself for about 40 minutes each time. In about 6 session the marks have completely gone. My skin (olive- asian skin) is almost normal. I can still see little difference, but others cant.
Avatar f tn Do you mean that ALL laser spot will leave a blind spot in my eye sight post laser? In that case, my eye sight is pretty normal. After laser, i will have disadvantage of a blind spot in certain areas. The advantage is i would reduce my risk of retine detachment. 5. As a generalization laser treatment of lattice, holes, thin areas, tears is NOT ultra-serious and carries with no where near the risks of the eye having a retinal detachment. a.
