Oral is a low risk exposure but it is a risk for certain STDs such as HSV1/2, syphilis, Gono, NGU. Although and STD would cause throat issues it would not cause laryngitis... but your doctor could have misdiagnosed you. Best suggestion would be to get tested.

I was diagnosed with low risk HPV a year and a half ago. I never had treatment for the purpose of not being able to afford it. At first I had cauliflower like warts and after a month, they were replaced with flesh toned warts. I'm sorry for being too graphic. So fast forward to now.... Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.
However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed.
She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.

I am on a research protocol and there are now more people, including some physicians, who believe that Th1 diseases, including fibromyalgia, are not contagious... but communicable. Transmission of bacteria requires close contact and perhaps this is why we've seen husband and wives come down with the same type of illness ? However, there haven't been any studies yet to prove this theory.

I was reading and I was told by two different sources on the same issue, however i got contradicting answers about it and I don't know which seems more right to you.
the situation is the following:

I am a married male and last year, I had an encounter with another man, I gave him oral sex using a condom. I know that this make for a virtually nil risk, but I had a couple of complicating factors. One, is that the condom kept riding up and I kept having to push it back down. As a result, I am not sure if I was exposed to his semen when he ejaculated (from the bottom of the condom).
As someone who is still recovering from acid reflux laryngitis, I will say that it took MONTHS for my voice to return. My laryngitis started in October 2009 and continued into April 2010 with slight improvements starting in late February. When I was first diagnosed as acid reflux causing my laryngitis, I was told it would take at least three months to get my voice back.
However I have been sick a few times since then and every time the virus turns straight into terrible laryngitis. Before the surgery I very rarely ever got laryngitis but now it comes on so easily and lasts for a while. Is there any reason that this would be connected to my thyroid surgery? Wondering if this is still part of the healing process or not? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

your comments about when herpes is contagious are inaccurate. herpes is contagious in between obvious symptoms too.

In some patients, acid can reflux into the throat causing inflammation of the back of the throat which can lead to pharyngitis, or into the vocal cords, which can lead to laryngitis and hoarseness. Although there are many other causes for sore throat and laryngitis, GERD should be suspected in a patient with chronic sore throat or other GERD symptoms or when no other cause can be found.
I have developed a chronic dry cough & laryngitis, currently I have been dealing with symptoms for a month. I went thru same illness 5months ago was in the hospital & then passed around to various specialists without any real answers. I have done allergy testing, tests to rule out relfux, seen ENT, pulmonlogist, & family dr multiple times with not much success. No one can tell me why I got better last time, or why I am dealing with the same situation again.
