Common Questions and Answers about Laryngitis contagious adults

laryngitis

Avatar f tn [25]Children are more susceptible to MRSA because they are more likely to exhibit minor scrapes, cuts, bruises, and insect bites than adults. Children (and adults, as well) who come in contact with day-care centers, playgrounds, locker rooms, camps, dormitories, classrooms and other school settings, and gyms and workout facilities are at higher risk of getting MRSA .
Avatar n tn ve read there is research showing that the Enterovirus have been found in people with Type 1 diabetes but this study was done in children not adults. And two years is way too long for her to be contagious from a virus that last roughly 10 days. But if you are showing signs and symptoms of diabetes I would get that checked out by your family doctor. Do you have a family history of it? Are you obese? do you have any other symptoms?
Avatar f tn No but It's commonly only in kids 10 and under but young adults and older adults can catch it. It's blister like bumps on the hand feet and mouth. It's starts out with a fever and thenough the bumps will occur.
Avatar m tn we do know that hepatitis b is very contagious from blood , 100x more contagious then HIV. You should start checking for acute infection. most adults cure hep b with an immune response and if you were acutely infected only 2 - 3 % of the adults become chronic carriers. most of us infected are either at birth or very early age, or unlucky.
Avatar f tn Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.
Avatar n tn However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.
Avatar m tn You may have occasional outbreaks on your mouth. It won't spread to other parts on its own. It is contagious when sores are present and slightly when no sores are not present. I wouldn't be concerned as something like 85% of the US population has this. You can take meds as soon as you feel the tingle and it will help reduce the outbreak. There is lots of info in the STD section regarding this.
Avatar n tn for chicken pox virus which I had as a child. Does anyone know if this is possible to have the virus effect 2 adults? Been to many doctors and they dismiss it at exema or dermititis or scabies. Would love anyone who can point me in the right direction.
Avatar n tn Hi, I think its possible if the other person has out break when you kiss(Herpes 1) because more like skin to skin. Ofcourse not by being around.
Avatar f tn I've had laryngitis before, at least about a couple times. The vocal cords get inflamed and that's why you can't talk. It does feel like there is something stuck in there. Likely that's part of the inflammation. I don't have asthma but I do get seasonal allergies on top of perennial allergies. Add a cold to the mix and it does leave one feeling very miserable. Do you get a lot of post nasal drip? That could add to your coughing.
Avatar m tn Am I at risk for HIV or some drug induced rash?
Avatar f tn Shingles is contagious and can be spread from an affected person to babies, children, or adults who have not had chickenpox. But instead of developing shingles, these people develop chickenpox. Once they have had chickenpox, people cannot catch shingles (or contract the virus) from someone else. Once infected, however, people have the potential to develop shingles later in life.
Avatar f tn I got really worried so I was referred to an ENT doctor, he said it was just reflux laryngitis since he examined it with an endoscopy. So he prescribed me amoxicillin for 7 days which helped a little but the bumps never went away. Sometimes, I would experience bad chills with no fever at all especially when I sleep. They would come back one day & another day, I would feel normal. I also noticed one white small tonsil stone above one of my tonsils.
Avatar n tn As someone who is still recovering from acid reflux laryngitis, I will say that it took MONTHS for my voice to return. My laryngitis started in October 2009 and continued into April 2010 with slight improvements starting in late February. When I was first diagnosed as acid reflux causing my laryngitis, I was told it would take at least three months to get my voice back.
Avatar n tn WC is very contagious. Adults WILL get this very often. It starts as a cold. They pass it to their non-immune kids. Then a week later the cough starts picking up-long after the adults think it is just a cold. Infants throats spasm shut and cannot get air. even adults can pass out while unable to get air in their lungs. I have it now, but still got my TDaP booster vax today because I have a 2 month old nephew. My brother just passed out coughing in the bathroom and woke up on the floor.
Avatar n tn he said, I was not sexually contagious and did not need to disclose this to any potential partners. This seems odd to me, since I thought all anogenital warts are sexually transmittable. Can you really tell the difference between a sexually-transmittable wart and non-wart in the genial region just from a biopsy? HPV must be present in that region either way, right? And that wouldn't that mean I'm contagious?
Avatar f tn However I have been sick a few times since then and every time the virus turns straight into terrible laryngitis. Before the surgery I very rarely ever got laryngitis but now it comes on so easily and lasts for a while. Is there any reason that this would be connected to my thyroid surgery? Wondering if this is still part of the healing process or not? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!
Avatar m tn In November-2nd week (after 11 weeks of the massage) I had a sore-throat for a few days followed by laryngitis. My doc said it was not bacterial but was some virus moving around and I could be contagious. I had 99 degrees fever and some mucous in my nose, throat. 1. My question is how risky is fingering for quarter-inch for 3 seconds? 2. Also are any of my symptoms consistent with ARS? Does ARS show itself with different symptoms weeks apart? 3. Should I get a HIV test?
Avatar f tn My co workers son had this, but I still dont know much about this disease. I would call your dr.
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm 21 years old, male at around 65 kgs. My girlfriend is of the age (more on this later) I just have a few questions regarding pneumonia, and how easily (or difficult) it is transmitted in healthy young adults. Context: My girlfriend's aunt recently got hospitalized due to pneumonia, and my girlfriend has been taking care of her for about 3 days now. Now this may sound stupid and selfish, but my concern is her and me catching pneumonia too.
Avatar n tn Hi Dear Yes, baed on the signs and symptoms cited by you, it seems that you have contacted chicken pox. Chickenpox is a highly contagious disease that is caused by the varicella-zoster virus (VZV). It is generally characterized by a fever and itchy, red spots usually appearing on the chest and stomach first, then appearing in crops over the entire body. The red spots turn into small blisters (filled with fluid) that dry up and form scabs (crusts) over about a week.
